I purchased 2 standard black scoop necked tops with no sleeve(different knit finish) for $ 300 each at the Wailea, Maui St. John’s store on January 7, 2015. Arrived home 3 weeks later and worn one of the tops and the hem unravelled completely first time I had it on! Someone had said I had a string hanging and they pulled the hem out. I am embarrassed but took it the next day(1÷26÷15 to South Coast Plaza store asking for a replacement. The clerk said they didn’t do replacements, but would fix it and I could come back for it. I said«no» I want a new one as I plan to wear it in a couple of days to an event. The clerk called someone else, who found a new one at their Beverly Hills store(they didn’t have one in my size). Said she had to check with the manager, who never came to talk to me. After waiting again, the 2nd clerk returned saying they would fix it today and mail it to me. I would have it by Wednesday. It is now the following Monday, one week later, I still don’t have the repaired top, and have received no call from the store about why the delay? Why would I ever shop at St. John’s again, when Nordatrom would give me a new top with no questions asked. South Coast Plaza store gets an «F» and St. John’s does as a corporation for they created these rules for their store. I am very displeased!

i have had the worst experience of purchasing anything let alone a luxury item such as a st. john jacket. Kim Duong the«store manager» is the worst case of passive aggressive insulting manager on power trip i have ever experienced. my situation has not been resolved, i am unhappy because i can not possibly buy another st john unless the zone manager takes care of the issue and trains Kim Duong on customer treatment.

I’ve coming here for several years now too purchase knit 2 pieces for my mom. She loves St. John. We haven’t had any real issues with anyone here. Our sales women were usually friendly and helped us out whenever we needed a new size or different color. The alterations done for us were always decent as well. One of the sales ladies we purchased things from even remembered us several months later. I did get a «snooty» vibe from a couple of other sales people, but whatever, its their loss because I would never purchase anything from them. The best thing about the place for me is their spacious dressing rooms, with soft benches to sit on. While my mom tries on outfits, I can just sit and play on my phone and critique her outfits. Its nice because she doesn’t have to constantly open the door, outfit after outfit, try to find me in the store, and ask how she looks. Consistently my mom is satisfied with her overpriced knits from St. John. Judging from the other reviews, there are several disgruntled customers to this store, but we’ve had nothing but good experiences in here. I guess it really depends on what sales person you are blessed(or cursed) with!

i’m writing this review for my mommy cus i sure as hell can’t afford an outfit from st johns. i did personally speak to the sales associate and her manager on the phone though. my mom wanted a specific suit in size 4, but this location only had a size 6 in stock so the sales associate offered a free alteration to bring the suit down a size. i should note that my mom knew nordstrom had her size in stock and she shared that with the st john sales associate which is why my mom was offered a complimentary alteration. when my mom went to pick up her suit, she was told there was a fee for the alteration. i spoke to both the sales associate and store manager and they claimed that they never offer free alterations. i asked why anyone would pay to alter a suit a whole size down when she can just purchased the right size. i also questioned why she was not quoted a price for the alteration. the manager told me something along the lines of «st johns clientele aren’t concerned with prices.» even more than the sales associate lying to make a sale, the manager’s snide comment was unnecessary, insulting, and completely ridiculous. despite our complaints and a number of phone calls back and forth, the manager refused to waive the fee, my mom really had no choice but to pay since her suit was already paid for. the horrible service was so unexpected, especially for a high end boutique to a repeat customer. what a stark difference from the customer service at nordstrom! i don’t expect anyone not to purchase a st john knit(they ARE beautiful and well made) but if you have the choice, save yourself a potential headache and purchase at nordstrom!

Do not have Caroline, the store manager, as your sales person. One of the most unprofessional sales rep I have dealt with in my lifetime. She will only be nice and helpful when you’re buying something. My mom purchased an outfit here for my wedding and had the most horrific experience. The alteration came out wrong and it took them over 2 months to fix it. With only a week away from my wedding they FINALLY got it together. This would have been a better experience if only the store manager Caroline would have done her job. Her words on the phone with me was«I don’t bother with little day to day problems.» This outfit was for my mom, on my WEDDINGDAY and after spending a great deal of money that’s the kind of service she gave us. She completely ruined our experience with St. John.

located near the nordstrom on the 2nd level of south coast plaza, i personally cannot afford a single item of clothing at St. John since it is super expensive… but i came here for a sponsored free cocktail & appetizer event/fashion show. the clothing is beautiful and definitely for a more mature, working woman. as an example of pricing, a snake-skin looking belt cost $ 400 while a black/knit cocktail dress was almost $ 1300! St. John Knits definitely knows how to throw a classy party though, that’s for sure! champagne and white wine were flowing as well as chic appetizers like caviar and beef wellington. all were delicious! they also announced a brand new remodel for their boutique coming in october 2008. apparently there will be a new«penthouse» level at south coast and st. john will be a part of it. although i’ll probably never shop here for maybe another 20 years or so haha… i can appreciate the sophistication and quality of their clothing… also had a chance to hear the president of St. John Knits speak and he seems like a nice guy haha
