Strawberry Blonde Perfection! Finally I found Gina who knows how to do reds without scary orange. Gina was able to fix the mistakes of the previous stylist and gave me an awesome cut too. I couldn’t be more thrilled! Thanks Gina!

I found Gina and Sophia Salon on Unilocal today. I was looking for a mani/​pedi for a good price at a salon with a good reputation. Based on Unilocal reviews, I called around and Gina had the best price and was able to get me in this afternoon. The reviews were right. Gina is so personable and did a great job on my nails. She seems like a very caring person. She talked to me the whole time getting to know me and listening to my stories about a recent trip I took and also sharing about herself. I would recommend Sophia Salon and Spa to anyone looking for a good mani/​pedi.

I started seeing Gina in 2010. I forgot what I first came to see her for, a haircut or a manicure, but she is fantastic at both.
She has, cut, highlighted, colored, curled, styled, and blown out my hair, all with BEAUTIFUL results.
She has also given me a mani, pedi, and silk mani. Again, she is really really really good at everything.
Since she opened her shop, I see that she has become a lot busier, which is a testament to her talent and customer service.
She is a genuinely friendly person and an exceptional stylist.
I moved pretty far away, but I plan on getting a beautiful blow out next time I’m nearby.

Gina has been taking care of my family’s hair for a few years now. My wife and daughters all have long hair, my wife’s thick and full, one daughters medium weight and the other daughter lighter and thinner. Gina handles all of them well. She also gives me a masculine haircut appropriate for my age, always making me look great. She’s friendly and sweet, too. Remember, you get what you pay for. If you want a discount haircut, go somewhere and look like it. If you want to look great, spend a couple extra bucks and go see Gina.

I have been going to Gina for about three years for my hair (highlighting, color and cut), nails (manicure and pedicure) and waxing. She does a great job for all three! I love going there, the shop is very clean and Gina makes you feel like you are at a spa! I highly recommend all of Gina’s services and I always feel like a million bucks when I leave there!

I started getting my haircut by Gina because my fiancé gets her nails done by her, so I thought I would give it a shot. My fiancé won’t go anywhere else (ever ever EVER) since she found this gem, and my haircut is now approved by my fiancé! Her customer service is personal and top notch! Gina has helped me out MANY times when I needed to get cleaned up for an event and lagged on preparing myself. **She always picks up the phone and gets back to me quickly. ** We refer everyone who compliments us on hair or nails. Oh, and AWESOME PRICES!

I get my hair cut and nails done here every time I come to visit my family in the area. This salon is my first stop to visit after I get off the plane! Gina is professional and personal. Because I am from NJ, Gina always find the time to fit me in even if she has to come in early or stay a little later. She always listen to what I want done but will make suggestion to make it look better.
I always come in looking disheveled leaving looking beautiful!
The price is very reasonable for the service provided. I usually get my hair done in NYC and pays so much more! :(
Plenty of parking in the plaza. The salon is very clean and has nice décor. There are always plenty of up-​to-​date magazine to read while waiting.

I stopped here because we were staying in a hotel near by while visiting for a wedding. I decided to get a mani/​pedi the day of the wedding, and called to see if there was an opening that they could fit me into. Gina was very nice, and fit me in so that it worked for my schedule. She did a very nice job and was friendly and professional. I would be coming here often if I lived in the area. I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.
If I was planning on a cut I would feel comfortable going there as well. She just put me at ease, you could tell that she takes pride in her business and her work.
Next time we are down visiting I’ll make it a point to get in for another appointment!

Gina is the nicest person and the most professional one! Each time I stop at her salon, I feel like I am pampered, and I feel prettier and relax. Her salon is THE place to stop to enjoy a serene atmosphere and to feel great. Each week, I spent my Friday afternoon there, and Gina takes care of my hair, my nails, and waxing. She is gifted and her expertise is total. Thank you Gina for making me feel so good!

Gina does an amazing job with color and cut. I have been to soooo many stylists at very expensive salons and Gina is better than all of them. Her prices are very affordable and she is extremely accommodating with her appointment times. Gina keeps up with the industry by taking new classes and staying up on all of the new products, techniques and cuts. She is truly an amazing stylist!

I’ve followed Giao (Gina) before she even opened up her own salon. I’ve only had my hair colored and cut from her. She is super nice, and remembers exactly what she did to your hair the last time you were there. She will never try to rip you off or upsell you on any products. Giao will always make herself for you whenever you need to go in. Her salon also offers facials and nails.

I’m usually very skeptical when someone claims they can do it all. You know the saying…“a jack of all trades; master of none.!” BUT, my sister in law (who referred me) assured me that I was in good hands. And she was RIGHT. Gina trained @ Carlton Hair — so I felt a bit more comfortable knowing she had notable references.
*SALON itself is clean and well lit. Many work stations, but Gina is the only stylist/​artist in the store.
*LOCATION: kinda hidden. Drive slowly down Newport Blvd, so you do not miss it.

Gina is very sweet. When I arrived she asked to go put on a robe. Robes were folded nicely in a basket and clean. It was comforting to know that she doesn’t use the same robe for all her customers. Bathroom: clean!
She’s not nosy and sneaky like some of the other salons I’ve been to. She didn’t try to persuade me too much to do this and that. AND… she spoke English to me the whole time, not questioning my ethnicity and trying to speak Viet to me. When I voluntarily told her I was Viet, she did speak Viet on/​off to me, but I welcomed it. Another PLUS that often goes unnoticed is: TV was set on an English channel.
ONE TIP: Gina, maybe put something on TV other than the news. It’s too stressful to watch all the chaos that is going on in the world while we are being pampered.
HAIRCUT ($ 45): includes wash, cut and blowdry/​styling afterwards.
I was pleased with my haircut. I told her I wanted to keep the length, but get rid of the dead split ends. Plus, I wanted to keep my layers. She did JUST that! Product of my hair was bouncy and healthy. I was happy.
EYEBROW/​LIP WAX ($ 10/​$ 6): I wanted to make sure she used good quality product so that my skin doesn’t break out. She assured me that her product is for sensitive skin. PLUS, she puts on some chalk like product before she waxed to help reduce the redness. One day later and I am NOT red as a TOMATO. And… my brows were shaped to match my face. Nothing too dramatic. Just the way I like it. Simple and clean :)
UPDATE: about 5 – 7 days after my wax, I broke out a bit. Like I said, my skin is very sensitive and only the most sensitive products will prevent my break-​outs.

*** I really like her because she is FAST, EFFICIENT and does a GREAT JOB. Trust me, you will not feel rushed! I felt very comfortable & at ease; even happier that I didn’t have to spend 2 hours (only 1hr) of my day to get all this done. WINNER :)

I was in town visiting family and needed a cut. I stumbled on this place and decided to give it a try. The salon is clean and organized. Gina did a great job. Highly recommended.

Had about 45 minutes in between work appointments, so decided to check out Sophia Salon & Spa, since I was parked in front of it. Gina made the whole experience so enjoyable. She is such a warm and friendly person and enjoyed talking with her during the fantastic pedicure she gave me. Will definitely be back if I’m ever in the Orange County area again!

Gina is the BEST! Stop by Sophia Salon for all your beauty needs. Gina does it all — waxing, hairstyling, etc. Everyone here is friendly and fun! It’s always a party! Thank you Gina for maintaining eyebrows and for keeping me from turning into a hairy beast!
