Magellan Storage

Great storage facility! Magellan has a lot to offer. Some things other storage places offer as well, however, this place stands above the rest. First of all it is in a good location with good security. It is well lit, I always feel safe no matter what time I come by. It is very clean and is easily accessible. Prices are reasonable but the best part about these guys is their customer service!!! The office staff is phenomenal. They recently had a change of management due to promoting the previous mgr. Well I loved the last mgr so much frankly I didn’t think he could be replaced with an equal… and was skeptical. I am very happy to say I was mistaken, Monica is awesome and just as communicative as Joe was. I never have any problem getting in touch with her, she gets back to me right away whether I email or call. And I always know what is going on at the site. They have annual customer bbqs… who does that anymore? They offer free beverages in the office and the restroom is immaculate, Way to go Magellan! I have been there going on 2 years now, Figured it was due time to write a review.

Do NOT get a storage unit here. Please read this. We got a unit about a year ago. Since then they keep raising the price due to «keeping the place clean». That is a lie. EVERY.SINGLE. TIME I go there it is filthy. My unit has moths and my things are now completely covered in dirt.
The worst part are the employees. I went there on sunday and the girl in the front office blatantly had huge hickies on her neck. She didnt even try to cover them. If any of my employees came to work with that showing… they would immediately get written up. How gross and sloppy is that??? Dayum girl, have you no shame? to top it off… she was rude as all hell.
As soon as I can find an affordable CLEAN storage unit, I am getting the hell out of there.

Pros: Location is great, moving in and out was simple. Staff is nice.
Cons: Do not offer refunds, make sure to move out as close to the 1^st as possible.
Loved everything about this place up until I moved out. When I moved into this unit I received ½ off my first months rent because of a special going on. Since there were only 8 days left in the month, the staff pro rated me the 8 days at full cost and gave me the second month ½ off so I could utilize the promotion. Awesome! :) Since they prorated when moving in I thought they would do the same when moving out. Wrong! Since they do not offer refunds I will be paying for a full months of rent even though the unit is free for them to rent for the last 22 days of the month. This alone knocked the score down from 5 stars to 3.

Not a typical dirty, dingy storage facility. This is probably the OC-​iest storage facility around. The staff is polite and professional. The facility is spotlessly clean. They even have a nice conference room that my fiancé has used to hold a meeting. They also have a rather impressive wine storage space. You get the impression that Magellan Storage really does appreciate their customers… in fact they just had a customer appreciation day, catered by the In N Out truck :)

Excellent location with huge storage units. I used this location when I was with a residential constriction company. Excellent prices, easy to find, clean units, and plenty of space to move our big trucks in and out as needed. They also offer bus/​limo/​RV parking.

Customer-​centric service is what makes all the difference at Magellan. The manager, Joe, is helpful, friendly, and professional! Storage facility and units are well taken care of and clean. Security is great and the property is well lit.
Units are priced better than self-​storage and the office and maintenance staff at Magellan provide far superior service. I wouldn’t store my items anywhere else!

Joe was the man! Explained thoroughly the perks of storing at their facility. Overall a solid booking experience. Looking forward to storing our stuff here. You get wifi, conference rooms, and it’s 24 hr access!

Joe was great! Was helpful in getting me set up with the right sized unit and flexible around some trouble spots I hit. All in all a very good experience.

I have had an OK experience here so far. Some good, some bad.
The bad: when I first reserved a unit I was quoted a price and when I went in to obtain the unit, the representative stated that the unit I reserved did not qualify for the special, as previously stated. However, he resolved that issue and gave it to me for the price I was originally quoted. Then, I was charged a $ 15.00 admin fee twice, however, this was also resolved and I received a credit to my account for the following month. Finally, I have been trying to make a payment online, as I was told you could do, however, the website does not work. I have tried twice now and wasted a solid 20 minutes each time trying to set up and account online and it doesn’t work. I called to find out an alternative method and they don’t take payments over the phone. The representative said I could bring a check in… pretty inconvenient.
The good: the prices are not too bad, so long as you are given the special you are originally quoted. They also provide a moving truck free of charge, less gas (as long as it is available and used within a certain distance of the facility). And, they have corrected the issues stated above, aside from the payment issue. Finally, it is a pretty nice facility.

I’m so impressed with this company. I came across them on accident when looking for storage for my mom. I got a lot if outrageous quotes from others for nothing!!! Magellan had coffee and snacks waiting (after moving all day this helps). They were able to give me a downstairs unit and excellent position. There were plenty of dollies for my use. Also was offered a FREE moving truck. This place is great!

This review is for their Costa Mesa location. We have been at Magellan for nearly 2 years now. Their staff is friendly and courteous and always available. We have our RV stored on the premises. There is a great place to wash your RV and it has been a very secure location. Their rates are reasonable and it is easy access to get on and off of the freeways.

I just want to make a note here that my review is for the location in Downtown LA at 801 Commercial Street. I have had amazing serve since moving in two years ago. I moved from a storage facility nearby (I won’t mention any names) that was just horrible, and I wish I had moved sooner. Bob, the manager will bend over backward to make sure you are happy and always makes transactions easy. Can’t recommend Magellan (at 801 Commercial Street) enough. Make sure you ask for Bob!

I chose this place based on price and location. However, the service is what really makes it top notch.
The people who work there are extremely nice and helpful. Every time I’ve had a question she’s been great and happy to help.
I’d definitely recommend this place. It’s well lit and I had a unit there for almost a year without any incident.

Magellan is fantastic!
When clients deliver items, the staff will put them in our unit.
They have a conference room you can reserve and even wine storage.
The CM location is centrally located so easy for access from anywhere in OC.

I have been a customer here for well sometime, and what got me into the RV parking spots was that they offered the security of cameras and definitely made me feel good about it.
1^st incident, my truck was ran into by a neighboring parked vehicle and the gentleman refused to take responsibility, although all the marks and heights of scratches indents on my truck were evident he still refused to take accountability.
I brought this incident to Management at magellan storage and they said they would review the videos, 3 weeks later I went in and to my surprise nothing had been taken care of,
Bob benson (great guy) said he would follow up with them, 2 weeks later no call, so when I finally went into the office, they told me they had no luck viewing anything on the video cameras as they didn’t reach as far as where I parked my truck $ 190 a month, those cameras should be able to reach everywhere.
Magellan said they would try to reach the person responsible and see what the situation was, yet… no luck yup…
So i Shrugged it off $ 450 worth of damage later…
2^nd incident.
MY driver who parks in truck in place of the work truck. Notified me the night of Friday April 13^th that someone had tried to break into his truck.
A break-​in at a SECURE STORAGE? wow this is insanity, no way someone would be that foolish, oh wait, yes only the guys who know that the cameras don’t reach that far and clearly know they are out of sights view.
I brought this up to BOB, and he offered his sympathies, but a great person can’t keep me in a bad situation,
I had to pick up and move after this, paying way to much for UN-​secure storage, Parking

I was really disappointed how my storage rental ended here.
When I initially signed up for my storage unit everything was great — friendly service, clean facilities, etc. I signed up for auto pay and everything seemed fine.
However, in December my bank sent me a new credit card because my account had been compromised. So when auto pay tried to collect their rental fee the credit card was declined. Magellan mailed me a bill to say my account was delinquent. I called right away to explain the situation and went in to give them a new credit card. They were nice enough to wave the late fee. Awesome. Done, right? Wrong. Magellan called me the next week and said my payment was delinquent. I explained that I already updated my card info. She said she’d call me back. She did. We’re all good. But an hour or two later, they called me again to tell me my payment was delinquent. I again explained the situation and things seemed fine.
A month later I went to move out. I rented a truck, gathered some friends, and got to my storage unit. It was locked by Magellan. They had not removed the lock from my «delinquent account» several weeks earlier. The office was closed so I had no choice but to return the truck and pay for it. I left a message that day. I waited over 24 hours for a call back. Nothing. When I called the office manager said she got my message. «What do you want from us?», she said. No apology, no explanation, just that. I explained that the day I was there was the last day I was free to move out for a couple of weeks. I asked to be extended. She wanted me to pay. I thought that was silly since this was not my fault. I asked if it would help if I told her about my recent experiences with their company to put this incident into perspective.
She replied, «You can if it will make you feel better.»
I was floored by this customer service. I asked to speak to her boss. She refused and would not give me the name. Ultimately I had to search they website and cold call corporate to get this done.
After I moved out I thought I was done. Nope. The next week they called to tell me there is a credit of $ 8 on my account. I asked if they can just credit my credit card they have on file. «No. We don’t do refunds.» I asked what can I do with that $ 8 then. «Nothing. I can send you a receipt for your records.» So basically you called to say you have $ 8 of mine that I cannot have. Wonderful.
