Schick Moving & Storage

I used allied from san Antonio to OC. everything was fantastic, schick was contracted to deliver and that was fine. My move out using Tustin allied aka schick began as expected. until the move in, it was a nightmare. Too much detail to write here, but the electronics were the worse. 1 of cable boxes were returned, our 30K dollar plasma system was in 9 pieces piled in a box with no protection and left in the box. I had 6 boxes just dumped and not unpacked. remotes and cords were not wrapped together and some missing. I called the company to ask about the missing electronics, three times and never received a return call.
they insisted we pay BEFORE they left the house load of furniture and I can see why, they took away my bargaining tool. I chalked it up to a lesson learned. But you can learn from my mistake of choosing this company. I would go with a national company and not an independent company. Be sure you insist on paying when the job is complete. give 50% down payment that should be satisfactory. Watch how they wrap and protect sensitive items such as electronics. I had my own crew pack my fragile items.

It’s very hard to find reviews or recommendations for good movers. I’ve moved a lot around the country and in-​state — on my own, with expensive companies, with cheap companies. We hired Schick for our move from Southern California to Colorado. Best experience yet as far as the intangibles. There are ALWAYS going to be things that don’t go great in a move. Nicks on furniture, things lost, scratches on floors. Please be careful about reading reviews and judging a moving company on these things, because it goes with the territory — the only way to prevent that is doing it yourself, and I promise the odds are you’ll do a worse job. WHAT MATTERS most to me is that we dealt with friendly pros at Schick. 99% of our interaction was with Kevin Schick, who came to our home and gave us a fair, competitive estimate. He gave us his email and cell for any questions. He was easy to deal with throughout. And our quoted price went DOWN. We were underweight — the quote they give you is guaranteed not to go up, and it’s nice that it went down.
They work with Allied Moving so your truck driver and loaders are employees of a national company, trained, background checked and more. The Allied guys were great. Solid. Fast, on time, etc. But it was Schick moving that felt like our friendly, trusted partner. We didn’t have many questions, but they helped with anything we asked. We looked for ways to save money, and Kevin was helpful in guiding us through that, honestly and graciously. They also provide FREE boxes (standard boxes mostly — TV boxes are on you, go to Home Depot for those at a great price). That’s a perk to working with Schick and Allied. When we went to sign our contract (in their very nice and huge office), Kevin helped load in the boxes to our car himself, noting what he thought we needed and telling us to come back anytime for more. Very hands-​on and great. NOTE TO MOVERS: besides assuming that you may lose some material things, there may be breakage, and so on, you also need to understand that unless you pay a huge price to a door to door mover where only your items are on the truck, there may be delays. Schick gave us the window and the Allied driver was in touch by phone — he gave us his cell too, btw. It took longer than we had hoped, but that’s part of the business as the truck had a few other loads on it.
All in all a great experience — highly recommend you use Schick.

Best movers I have ever used and I have moved A LOT in my life. They were on time, wrapped and protected everything and were pleasant, hardworking and respectful during both days of our move. I will recommend them to all my friends.

I cannot covey how much I owe these guys (and Ladies).
We were moving to Austin TX from Orange County and I had interviewed Allied. Chad cam over and created a fully computerized estimate based on my homes contents, the need for two trucks and storage in their climate controlled warehouse in Tustin on the 5 frwy. It was a very big house with more stuff than I can imagine how we accumulated, and with a mult-​thousand mile trip, it was expensive… Well my wife has Atlantic Moving from Anaheim come in, the were not computerized and I thought they were not as professional (man was I right). They were a little cheaper and so my wife insisted. well the day cam and we had to be out because of the home closing… Atlantic shows of with one small truck, three puny guys and no packing materials! I WAS SCREWED! I blew up at them and called the office, they were no help and after barking at the people once more. THEY WALKED OUT!!! they would not come back and left me high and dry… Unprofessional and bordering on fraudulent.
What Could I do? I called Chad and begged him for his help. He was completely cool and understanding, he told me to hang in there and let me see what he could do. he told me it might be a few days before he got a crew and the trucks together. I could do nothing but pray. Sure enough I got a call three hours later and the crew leader was at my house telling me that he would have two trucks and a full crew here tomorrow at 8:)) AM!!! Thank you Thank you thank you. I wish I remembered the crews names, they were big, strong, fast and efficient, they had that home done in seven hours and it was done perfectly… not a problem…

They were a very good company! We would definitely recommend them to anyone who is moving. We are going to use them for our next move! Great company!

This company was not the cheapest but I felt comfortable with the fact that they use their own employees not people recruited as day workers and given shirts as some of the other companies i talked to. The pick up and packing of my goods was quick and done as planned. I had my items stored for 30 days until my new place was ready. I have given 4 not 5 stars because on delivery they did not put my furniture back together as I was told they would because they do not unbox anything unless you pay extra. Rather than telling me this they just left and didn’t really check out with me first… I called the main office and they did return quickly, I unpacked the mirror and they assembled it as previously promised. They also scratched my new wood floor which I did not see until after they left so just make sure to check everything as they leave. All in all I would use this company again.

This is not the best company… it awful. We just moved from placentia to Washington and one of our boxes full of DVD’s collector editions worth a lot of money went missing, we didnt realize it until 3 days later. We put a claim in and they denied it because I had signed that we recieved everything but it was impossible for me to track inventory when 4 different guys were taking the boxes off the truck including the guy who was supposed to be taking inventory. The driver told me he was exhausted because he had to bust ass to drive up here because the shipment he was supposed to get after ours was delayed so he only had a day to get to washington. He was supposed to have given me an inventory list before they started unloading but he didnt so my husband did the best he could to do their job… he asked the movers where his dvd box was and they just kept saying its here its here. Finally at the end i was presented with two things to sign, one which was the inventory list he was supposed to have given me at the beginning which he apparently filled out himself and told me it was HIS inventory list so I signed it besides what was i going to do after the fact, make them sit there for 3 more hours while i tracked down every box? I was sympathetic to the driver and even gave him 40 $ tip. Well now they denied our claim because i signed that CUSTOMER inventory list saying that i had everything… I didnt even realize what it was until after the box was missing. Now they say the are not responsible, the box went on their truck and didnt come off… thats what i know, and on top of that i paid an extra 500 for insurance… they screwed us and they will screw you too.
The drivers name was Jamie (spanish pronounciation) had very bad english, and he hired day laborers that had nothing to do with the company.
Im disgusted and appalled by their «investigation» of the whole issue and Allied should be held responsible as well as «Schick»
They are probably going to have this comment erased so not to tarnish their reputation thats how corruption works. Thats ok because we are going to keep reposting everywhere every week.

This is the best company you can find for a long-​distance move — hands down. I move residences quite often and find there are pros and cons with every mover I’ve used in the past. There are only pros with this one. Paul Arborn was my estimator, he is very experienced, accurate, professional and helpful.
The moving team, John & Susan Holliday, brought professional helpers with them, not day laborers. My move took only 2−½ hours on each side (pack-​up & delivery). I was very lucky to get John & Susan as my mover team, they cover the west coast area — let’s hope you get them for your move, too. They made the whole moving process much easier and less stressful. It makes a big difference when the movers know their job well and are organized — I just can not say enough good things about them!
