I called a week ago about my sti having an occasional smoking problem and was told they were booked but were glad to make time to check it if I brought it the following week. I went yesterday and was helped out by Nick. Never had such great customer service from an auto shop as I did here. Nick was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He explained everything that was going on with the car and was happy to answer my numerous questions. He also checked for other issues all over the car and showed me what was going on and what is recommended. Definitely recommend this shop for all your subaru needs, even learned new things about my car.

There is no place I would ever take any Subaru I own other than Forman. Andrew kept me up to date on the status of my 2008 wrx almost every other day. Nick and Dave are the most thorough mechanics I have ever dealt with. I called one day with a question and no one answered the phone but I didn’t leave a message and Nick actually called me back later. These guys worked with me as the dealer I bought it from sold me a lemon. (Blown turbo and heads and failed to disclose it). As long as I or anyone in my family owns a Subie, no one will touch it except the guys at Forman. Customer for life!

Couldn’t be more pleased. I’m very, very anal about who touches my car. I came in with a misfire issue. Nick talked to me for 10 – 15 minutes, asking me questions about this history of my car, modifications, etc. I then told him to drive my car and drive it hard, hoping he’d know what it was. He took it back in the shop, looked around it, drove it, took it back in the shop, then drove it to the front as he handed me the keys. He promptly said my engine was healthy and all I need is a tune! Some places would say that an ignition coil is bad, or a boost leak, but he was honest and straightforward.
Glad that I took my car somewhere trustworthy. They’ve earned my business as long as I’m owning Subaru’s. Honestly, don’t go to untrustworthy shops. These guys are worth the wait!

Just got my 105k service done on my 06 Forester XT. Nick and Andrew are knowledgeable, easy going and always make me feel comfortable with my car in their hands. Besides the fact that their prices are EXTREMELY reasonable, I drive from L.A. anytime I need service simply because they’re the best Subaru shop in Southern California!

I’ve had a lot of services performed here, 60k, steering rack and pump rebuilds, oil changes etc. Nick & Andrew are very knowledgeable and friendly. Avoid the overpriced «stealership». Come here instead.

Really knowledable

Just wanted to take a second to reiterate all the positive reviews about Forman Performance. I took my WRX in for the 60k service and couldn’t be more impressed with their customer service and knowledge. They did run about an hour behind but Nick was more than accommodating keeping me up to date and making sure I was comfortable waiting. When Dave finished, he spent almost 30 minutes going over every detail of my car about what he did and what he recommends in the future… wow, I’ve never had anyone deconstruct my car like that. Most shops will just hand over your keys and send your right out the door to make room for the next customer but Dave and his team legitimately have passion for Subaru’s and its very transparent with just a few minutes speaking with them. I look forward to my next stop, thanks guys!

Got my WRX rebuilt after a thrown rod.
I always spoke with Nick he was relax and easy to work.
The shop is growing and they were extremely busy when i got my work done this lead to the car being finished after the original quoted time.
The best thing about this place is that they are always easy to get a hold of them just keep calling the shop because they are likely working on a project in the back but will get to the phone. They make you feel very comfortable and take their time to answer any questions you may have. I honestly feel like they work with the customer and keep their best keep interest in mind at all times. I was working on a budget and they stayed within it.

I called around looking for the best price for my 30k mile service. Upon speaking on the phone to «Nick» I knew I was going to bring my car to Forman Performance and that was before I even got the quote! I was impressed with the professionalism and friendliness over the phone and wasn’t disappointed when I spoke to Nick in person. I didn’t even realize at the time that this place only services Subarus. I got extremely lucky. I feel like I got fair and honest treatment for a gal that knows not much about cars. They didn’t do any unnecessary work. And they even gave me a little discount for paying cash. You can tell that the people at Forman Performance take pride in their work. I feel that I have found a place I can trust with my Subaru! Finally!

I took my 2008 WRX here for her 60K service and Forman Performance is one of the best mechanic /​performance shops ever. I have a history of bad experiences with dealers (South Coast, Monrovia), so I am very happy I found this place.
They quoted me right off the bat, which was nice, so I knew what to expect prior to taking my car in. They didn’t have an available appointment the same week, so I had to wait till the following week, which I really didn’t mind. Good quality work /​service is always worth the wait.
When I got my car back, they ended up charging me $ 60 – 80 less because they didn’t need to change my coolant, since I had the «long-​lasting» kind already. I loved the fact that they were so honest — they could have very easily said they changed it and charged me for it. Also, the guy I had been dealing with (I think his name was Nick) noticed that my sun visor arm was broken and offered to fix it for free if I brought in the parts. That was so nice of him to offer that to me!
I will definitely be back for future maintenance and may even ask them for advice on tuning it up a little — I’ve always wanted a down pipe!

Thanks Dave (my hero) for welding my cracked exhaust flange. Took me in on short notice and took his time to get my lowered car on the lift without damaging my side skirts. The staff is always super friendly, Nick at the front counter offered me a drink while I waited on the sofa. No wonder this shops grown so fast in the last couple years. Go FORMAN!

Easiest 5 Star review I’ve ever written.
Last week, Anthony installed a downpipe and heatshield on my WRX.
It was a brand of downpipe he was unfamiliar with, and he went out of his way to call the owner of the company that manufactured it to make sure he was installing it correctly.
The installation took longer than the quoted time, but that was due to a seized bolt on the stock downpipe. No big deal — shit happens. I’m just glad that seized bolt wasn’t MY problem.
They kept me updated throughout.
Their facility is in the middle of an expansion, so it’s not currently set up with more than a couch to sit on in the waiting area.
There’s a Starbucks just around the corner if you want to get some work done while you wait.
Conclusion: True Subaru enthusiasts who will take great care of your car. I’ll be back for future service and installs.

My friend recommended this place to me and all I have to say is. super friendly and helpful. This SHOULD be your place to go! I’m a girl who doesn’t know anything about cars but…
My boyfriend drives a Subaru WRX and he’s been mod’ing it like it’s his baby. Maybe I get a little jealous, but whatever, I still try to help pay for his mods nonetheless. This is the place to call if you have no idea what you’re doing but you wanna help your man out with his car. Just call this place, let them know what your man wants, and they’ll give you recommendations.
It’s totally worth it because we’ve been here a few times and the results were phenomenal (I mean, my boyfriend was happy so I can’t complain).
As far as Subarus go… they know exactly what they’re doing to your car… as long as you know what you wanna do ;).

We have three Subaru (s) in our family. Right after we used all the free manufacturer maintenances, we «happily turn to Forman». They’ve been providing very good service at a lower cost compared to dealerships.
They helped me ordering aftermarket parts for my WRX at shocking cheap price. Parts come fast, I pay way less than any other places on/​offline. Plus you get free consultation from the specialists who know what works and what doesn’t.
I can’t thank them enough, especially Vim and Dave who spent time to educate me how to take care of my Subaru (s), and all other guys who have worked on my car, my sister’s, and my mom’s.
If you love your Subaru, you have to let these guys take care of it. They rock.

I only created a Unilocal account to review these guys. My expectations have been exceeded. I’m a proud owner of a 2004 wrx sti, the car had always been good to me but I was young reckless and blew my engine.
Vim and Dave gave me a reasonable price and kept me inform step by step. If you are looking for trustworthy guys who know what they are doing come here they will take care of you.

I have a SWP 2011 WRX sedan and I have taken my car here twice.
First time was for a coilover install and second time was for an upgraded throttle body hose.
Both times I had a positive experience. They are usually quite punctual with the time estimates they give you and the prices are fair as well. They are also usually pretty busy so make sure to make an appointment.
The work done on my car was very professional and I am satisfied with my experiences.
This place is also the most popular Subaru shop in Orange County. The majority of the people you ask will recommend this place.
I plan to continue taking my car here for installs that are beyond my mechanic skill level.

As a WRX/​STi owner in Orange County, it’s hard to find an HONEST Subaru mechanic. Vim and Dave are top notch! They will never pressure to spend any extra money on anything and always have the best pricing for parts and services.

Had my 90k service done here along with some other miscellaneous things I needed to get done. They are booked out weeks in advance and I was lucky to get a slot in. Like others have mentioned, they actually care, while also telling you what it is. Rather than try and steer you one way or another, they give you options and lend a recommendation. This service you can hold off, while this likely needs to get done sooner than later.
