I went to this place after looking at the reviews because I like to experience things for myself and the lady was trying to charge me 300 $ to alter my dress. I spent 260 dollars on a gown for the red carpet but why would I spend more money hemming my dress than what it cost me to get it? Im sure they do a good job but I think they do rip people off regarding what your coming in for. All I needed was the bottom, the back by the zipper, and a little adjustment on my neck. I looked at the pricing for each alteration. She was trying to charge me 120 for the bottom, 80 for the neck and 100 for the back where the zipper was. I called my friend because I never got a dress altered so I didn’t know how much it should be and thank goodness she told me to go back and get My money back with in 10 minutes of leaving so I came back and thank goodness she gave it back to me. I dropped it off at a place down the Road and they charged me 60 $ and it fit perfect for the same alterations! This place is a scam would not come here again.

I am extremely happy with the job they did on my dress! Excellent service. Like Mark said, they are definitely in a league of their own. They cut no corners on quality. European Tailoring is the only place I trust with my expensive, designer garments!

This place is truly amazing! I laugh at the reviews regarding the prices. I would highly suggest these reviewers to remember «the bitterness of poor quality will remain long after the sweetness of low price have been forgotten.» You really get what you pay for here. The best quality and customer service.

European Tailoring is in a league of it’s own. Yes, they are not cheap but when you pay a hefty price for a garment you want the best of the best to alter it. Nick and Terry is the best of the best. You can walk in to any high end store in South Coast Plaza and I guarantee you they will refer you to European Tailoring. I have used them for the past 10 years and they have never failed me.
Listen folks, you can cut corners and go to another establishment to save money but you will never come close to the quality and professionalism these people have. no wonder they’ve been the anchor tailoring shop in South Coast Village for the past 15 years.

Nick has been tailoring my clothes since 2009. I met him through Emporio Armarni. Nick definitely does a good job; otherwise, I wouldn’t have used him for so long. Pricing is definitely on the higher side but it definitely worth it. I wear a size 44 short but most of the time the pants and vests need to be recut. Just got two vests back last week from them and they look like custom made vests. No complaints.

Terri and Nick are terrific. As EBB says, if you want ‘cheap’ go someplace else. I buy beautiful clothes and expect expert tailoring on them. European Tailoring does that. It’s important to note that they do what it takes to get the clothes right — free of charge. I recently had a finely detailed Chloe’ cape that needed to be almost recut from scratch. It wasn’t perfect the first time and they kept at it (for the original cost) until it was perfect.

If your looking for cheap then go get your clothes tailored at the dry cleaners. Perfection has a price and my experience with European tailors has been impeccable. I have an athletic frame and getting suits that fit have always been an issue for me so at one point I lost hope. Last christmas Saks Fifth Avenue had a suit sale and I found a beautiful Valentino suit on sale so I figured I would take a chance and buy it even though it was two sizes too big to compensate for my big shoulders. Well after purchasing the suit I went on a quest to find the right tailor and thats when I came across this place. From prior reviews I was initially concerned about the price but after going in for a consultation I was impressed by the level of professionalism and attention to detail when fitting my body. I also was also pleasantly relieved to find that the cost was very decent especially considering the fact that they had to completely taylor my suit at almost all seems to it get it to fit my frame. Well a week went by and I went in the try on my suit. From the moment I put on my pants and jacket I was ecstatic. The attention to detail from the way my pants fit to he the arch in the back of my jacket to complement my athletic gluts. They let out where I needed it and took it in where it was loose to fit my body to perfection. Since then I have taken several suits in to be tailored and my experience has been excellent! Nick and his wife make a excellent team and there level of expertise is immaculate. All my suites I have had tailored all fit like custom suits. I am thrilled!!!

I had bought a bikini swimsuit from La Perla in the past and had it altered so when I bought a new bikini elsewhere, I called La Perla and asked where they had it altered. Hence the disastrous referral to European Tailoring.
All that need to be done was padding added to the bikini bra and the bottoms brought in on the sides because they were too loose.
I gave them 2 weeks to complete it. It was supposed to be completed on the 10^th (but Nick had said I’ll put down the 8^th for the store to have it ready). I called on the 11^th (giving them an extra day) to see what time they closed. I heard muffled discussions about the swimsuit not being done. Anyways, I arrived at 530pm and only the bikini bottom was done. Both bikini tops had not had the padding sewn in or inserted.
Terry told me that she needed me to try on the padding before she could have it sewn in? Well in the 2 wks it sat there did anyone call me to tell me this??? NO!!. Also she didn’t even have the right padding. Then she had the gall to tell me it will only take 10 minutes. (well I was heading to a class and I didn’t have time to have alterations made while I waited after leaving the items there for 2 weeks.) Furthermore, one bikini bra/​top had padding just barely sewn into the material, even an amateur could do that and it will easily fall off so I have to take it elsewhere to be done properly. The other bikini top looks like a child did it and my $ 450 bikini is ruined!
The only decent thing was that they dropped off the items that should have been done when I was at their the store the next morning.
THE COST OF ALL OF THIS WAS $ 160!!! They jack up the price and gouge you just because you are referred from a store at South Coast Plaza. I called the manager at La Perla and I told her and she said I’m the 3^rd customer to complain. After reading other reviews I see that numerous stores@SCP refer customers here for alterations and these people are just price gouging for poor quality, unprofessional work. I don’t usually write Unilocal reviews unless something is spectacular or horrendous! THIS PLACE IS HORRENDOUS please don’t make the same mistake I made or such an expensive one either. PLEASE AVOID!!!

I brought them a suit in that I had ordered from a Groupon (big mistake #1) because I work right next door.
Mistake #2, I didn’t know what alterations should cost so I just accepted what the owner Nick told me. The work was done pretty well and quickly.
When I bought my next suit (a fine Italian Zegna one,) the alterations were much less expensive leaving a bad taste in my mouth (subsidized by 3day suit broker, probably.)
When I asked Nick about this 10X discrepancy ($ 40 for full alterations versus $ 400 at European Tailoring) Nick got annoyed and just said «That’s what I charge.» I never asked him for money but he got very defensive. That makes me wonder how easy it would be to ask for a «money-​back guarantee» that he boasts about before the hard sale is closed.
In fairness, I informed him that I was going to write a Unilocal review and he replied, «Go ahead!» and hung up on me.
In summary, if you want to overpay to have something altered, then this is the place for you.
The tailoring work by 3day Suit Broker was way better, by the way. My European Tailored suit had a long, uncut string falling out of the inside pocket. When I commented that I felt the pants were too tight, Nick replied «that’s how they’re wearing it. It looks perfect.» I literally can’t put anything in my front pockets because I’m afraid the pants will split.

I wish my experience had been more like Alba’s, but unfortunately mine was just OK.
I am wearing a very complicated Donna Karan as my wedding dress, and I was referred here by the DK store in SCP for alterations. I was very nervous about getting anything done to it and was strongly considering just leaving it as is rather than risk someone ruining it, but in the end I decided to try to make the fit perfect.
My first trip to the store was very encouraging. A woman spent a lot of time discussing options for fixes etc, and I felt I was in good hands. There was an area on the dress that kind of «pooched», and I asked if an alteration could fix it. She explained why it wouldn’t work and said it could be fixed with steaming, as could an area that had gotten a little dirty. I appreciated her expertise and her willingness to say certain things wouldn’t work. I was told the dress would be «ready to wear» when I picked it up in a little over two weeks.
She called the day before pickup to say it wasn’t ready and to ask for a few more days. No big deal, and at least she called.
When I went to get it, she was out and the rest of the team couldn’t find it. Not a good feeling for a bride. When they finally did bring it out, it was on a wire hanger without a bag and was wrinkled. It definitely hadn’t been steamed (so the pooch is still very much there, as are the smudge marks). The alterations that were done were fine, though relatively minor and cost $ 200. I knew the price when I dropped it off, so it wasn’t a surprise. But I was expecting a lot more care and attention for that amount. I think it should have been steamed (especially since we discussed it), bagged, put on a decent hanger in a place where it was easily found. I told them I was coming that afternoon when they asked for more time. The 10 minutes when it was «lost» were extremely unpleasant for me. And the appearance of the «finished» product was disappointing. At this price level, the experience should have been better.

They still do great work, but these people went from a little pricey to downright outrageous. I guess that due to their location near South Coast Plaza, they figured that they get enough clients willing to drop big bucks that they can now charge whatever they want. My husband brought some jeans here to be taken in — $ 70 each. He brought in two shirts that just needed to be taken in as well (just the sides taken in — nothing done to the sleeves or the length). Those are going to be $ 45 EACH. Just to be taken in a little on each side! That is ridiculous — we will have to stop bringing our clothes here. It would almost be less expensive to just buy new clothes.

I brought my wedding dress here because the Tadashi Shoji shop recommended them for the alterations. I figured that since they have a lot of experience with the same dress, it was a no-​brainer. And it seemed that way. When I went for my fitting with Terry, she was really nice and attentive, and I even saw my same dress in the fitting room, with significant alterations done – including a change to the neckline and sash.
When I went to pick up the dress (mind you, it was now paid for – about $ 400 in alterations) I experienced entirely different service. They hadn’t done my neckline alteration because «it didn’t look good, so we took it out». It was a $ 45 fee for the sweetheart neckline that they assured me they could do at the fitting… and shouldn’t they know, since they had done so many alterations on that dress? I replied that I had really wanted it done, so they whisked the dress back and did the alteration in a few minutes, handed the dress back and tried to shoo me out the door. I was really annoyed at this point – a good tailor would have me try it on. Meanwhile, another customer came in with a pair of pants to hem, and I was told I needed to give up the dressing room for them. Fine, I said, I would wait.
I tried it on and the dress looked was fine. Terry, who I’m assuming had heard the bad service, had come out from the back room to talk with me and see the dress on. We got to chatting and I asked about the sash and how to get the bow just right. She suggested I change the sash out, and was telling me where to go to get the new material… and then suddenly she said, «Oh, no sorry it’s impossible. You can’t change the sash out, it’s sewn into the zipper.» At this point, I realized that even Terry was a phony, as I had not only seen the same dress with a different sash at my fitting, but anyone with some knowledge of sewing would know that you can just undo the stitches and replace the sash. She insisted it was impossible, so I left because there’s no way I wanted them to touch the dress anymore. I went to my usual tailor, who changed the sash without even blinking an eye.
I’m not giving one star, because they did a fine job with altering the length and taking the dress in, so I’m sure their skills are fine. The high price and flat-​out lie however… that’s a whole other story.

I had been referred to this location by a friend and brought in a couple of slacks I needed hemmed. Easy peasy stuff, not anything major to pass on. But it was when I brought in a bridesmaid gown to be fixed that I vowed never to go anywhere else. I had purchased the gown from a location that had their own tailor. The guy ruined the structure of the bodice and the skirt had this funny bump poking out at the end of the center seem. I brought the dress here two days before the wedding begging to help me fix the dress. Terry did it! She had to complete reconstruct the bodice, fix the boning, and fix the skirt. The dress looked like it had been made for my body. I was thrilled! It cost me $ 75, but I learned my lesson, good things don’t come cheap. Thanks so much Terry!
