My first time here. I like my hair cut. The head massage while they wash my hair was super nice too. 50 bucks. I came without an appointment but didn’t wait at all.

Love this hair salon! Asako is amazing! Love her haircuts and the awesome scalp massage! I also had my hair and makeup done there for an event and got many compliments.

This is the best hair salon that I have been so far! Absolutely great customer service and awesome hairstylists! I will definitely come back for my next visit and highly recommend to all my friends! Ask for Mai, she is such a sweet hairstylist. She knows what’s best for you!

I’m surprised there are even any negative reviews. I’ve been coming here for a year or so despite the heft price tag. Recently, when I went back to my favorite cheap salon in Westminster I could immediately tell the difference and had to get my ugly hair fixed here pronto. I will never leave Aruka’s again ;)
I always schedule an appointment because I know they can get busy. My stylist is Nao, and he is the sweetest, most consistent guy I’ve ever met. When you first sit down, you let them know how you want your hair cut. You can order a complimentary drink, but don’t expect too much. I guess it’s more about the gesture. Then you’ll be taken to get your hair washed along with a very nice head massage. Afterwards you’re taken back to your station, they cut your hair, dry it, recut some details, and style it. The whole ordeal lasted an hour while I sipped my coffee and flipped through fashion magazines. I always feel so spoiled.
I also sent my boyfriend and mom here. My mom LOVES this place and my boyfriend’s hair has never looked better haha ;)
Beverages, massages, consistently elegant cuts – there’s no way to say no. If you’re on the edge about this place, take a look at the photos; your hair will most likely turn out like this. If you’re not a fan, go somewhere else.
Another tip: they get very busy on weekends. Book wisely.

i’ve got my hair cut here twice by two different people and can say that this place is not for me.
while i appreciate the long massage and the kindness of the staff, the cut is just NO BUENO.
during my recent visit, I showed the stylist a picture of the cut I wanted: long layers without looking choppy and longer bangs. my haircut turned out to be the opposite of what I wanted: really choppy and bad layering.
worst of all, my bangs look terrible and i am waiting desperately for them to grow out. there is just no finesse to the hair cut and the «layering» makes my hair look unhealthy. the way they style your hair is very outdated, very 90s.
i would not recommend this place and i won’t be coming here.

I finally found one!!! I went to Arukas Hair had my hair colored and got a little trim. Asako was the stylist. She is so talented and experienced. She knew exactly what I wanted and gave very sincere advise. So happy to find a stylist, who has great taste, talented and experienced. Highly recommended!!!

What: got a hair cut (it is my first time at this location but my second time at arukas)
Pros: the hair wash is nice, long, and relaxing
People were nice and polite
Cons: It was super crowded (kind of messy for my taste)
My hair stylist Mai I think was her name probably went back and fourth from me to 2 other people 4 – 5 times while she was doing my hair. She would cut my hair then leave and cut someone else’s hair and repeat for the next hour.
While Mai was off doing someone else’s hair a man stepped in to dry my hair and he was so ruff and it hurt so bad the whole time
It was really choppy when I left and I was just going to see if it would just grow out okay, but everyday I have to look at it makes me more and more upset and I don’t feel like spending another $ 60 for another hair cut. I would avoid this place. You can get a better hair cut for this price.

Walked in and needed an up-​do for a formal event later that day. Madoka was so professional, sweet, and attentive, I felt like a masterpiece when she was finished. I’ll definitely be back for routine cuts soon!

This salon is located in front of Mitsuwa, right to the side of the entrance. Parking can be a hit or miss depending on how crowded Mitsuwa is at the time.
I had my hair cut here with Madoka and she did a pretty good job! She cleaned and massaged my hair before getting it cut, and she sat and listened to me and heard my feedback on what kind of hairstyle I wanted, and she did cut the hair as I had described. It was an overall quite pleasant experience. I conversed with her for a bit and she talked about how she was from Japan and had been cutting hair over there for quite some time before coming to this location in the US.
I booked the appointment online through their app on Facebook and it did schedule through. I ended up having to be switched to another stylist from my first choice because it seemed he left or wasn’t available. The person calling recommended Madoka, since I said I had slightly longer hair for a guy and she was supposed to be good at it, and she indeed was!

My local hair cut place. I used to drive to West LA to get hair cut. Man. it was 1.5 hours of driving one way. So I was looking for local place and found here. They used to be in Tustin, but now they moved right next to Mitsuwa in Costa Mesa. Just like its name, it feels like your hair is at a resort. They take time to wash your hair and does some scalp massage. If they do it longer, I may have fallen asleep. Check this place out.

Madoka did exactly the way I wanted my hair to look like! I showed her some photos and she recommended Digital perm instead of the air pressure perm. I led the expert do the job and Voila! she did her magic!!! I couldn’t believe my own eyes… That’s how good it came out~ I know how to style my hair and I m pretty good with curling iron but after the baby just didn’t have time to do the pretty stuff anymore… Even though I didn’t expect the perm to give me the natural look like the curling iron gives, I needed some volume since I have a long hair.
Madoka fully explained to me that the perm can give natural look depends on how I style it. The DP was a perfect choice since it makes the definite look of a curl.
She did an amazing job with the hair cut first!!! Long n thin layers since I have too much hair. Mid length bangs on side and the 3D thin layer cut all through out, but keeping the length so it still looks long!
She taught me several different ways to style my hair.
Basically, it depends on how I dry my curls after the wash. She showed me how to make it firm or more natural using my fingers when blow drying.
I was so happy with my hair when I got out from the store and came home and my hair even looked prettier!!! I uploaded my new hair on the FB and my friends are going crazy how good I look!!!

Jun Ida is a splendid stylist!
I wasn’t sure what I wanted, so I let him pick both the cut and dye color. It was a pleasant surprise and I loved both of them!
His suggestions were very good!
He is very good at recommending styles that will suit the person.
And he is very kind and friendly.
I want him to do my hair cut and color all the time, because he is the best hair stylist.

What a great place! My boyfriend and I came in here for a haircut and were super impressed by the quality of the work and the friendly service. I had Madoka for my haircut and I showed her a photo of what I wanted, which she followed exactly. My boyfriend also was really happy with his cut. Another big plus is their point card system.
We will be coming back here for sure!

I came here on the recommendation of my friend, and I was impressed! What pushed me to try this place over any other place was the fantastic service and the scalp massages.
It was about time I got a proper hair cut, as the last time I cut my hair was January of 2013. Yikes, I know. What I’ve always done before is grow my hair out long, and then cut short to donate. This time around, I wanted a change and an actual hair cut at an actual salon.
I called to make an appointment for a haircut a week before, and 2 days before my appointment, I got a call confirming my appointment. When I arrived for my haircut, I was welcomed by the girl at the front, and she quickly checked for my name. I was then quickly asked to have a seat at my hairstylist’s chair. My hairstylist (I forgot his name) was very friendly. Before anything, he asked how I wanted my hair cut, and I showed him a photo. He then walked me through every step that he was going to take. From there was the shampoo & head massage, and boy did the head massage feel good. I just wished it was a bit longer. But before they shampoo/​condition & massage your head, they put a mask on your face, probably so that water/​shampoo/​conditioner won’t splash on your face.
Afterwards, was the haircut. They give you magazines to read & there’s also the wifi password pasted at every station, so you don’t have to drain your data browsing the interwebz. They also have a list of drinks that you can choose from as well.
Once your haircut is finished with, you’ll get a blow dry and a styling. The hairstylist curled my hair with what looked like a 2″ curling iron. The curls looked so good that I bought myself a 2″ curling iron when I got home.
Haircut for women is $ 50. Now, you might think that is expensive, but you really are getting what you pay for, in terms of excellent hair cutting/​styling abilities & customer service. Service is excellent. They are so friendly and courteous here; it’s such a nice change, and makes customer service anywhere else look terrible.

I found Arukas on Unilocal and I’m very happy with my experience there! When I first went in, I was a little surprised by the size of the salon. It is a little bit smaller, with I think 4 salon chairs. I chose Arukas because of the great reviews and their very reasonable pricing for hair coloring that I found on their website.
Service was great here and communication was always clear. I appreciated that they walked me through every step even though they were very busy at the time. They offer some free drinks and have wifi, so I was able to watch some Netflix while getting my hair done.
Although I just got a color and no cut, I would definitely return for any of my hair needs. It’s right next door to Mitsuwa so I was able to buy a small lunch before going in. They accept credit cards, yay! I made an appointment over the phone the day before without any problems.

This is my third time gong to Arukas. I don’t remember who did my hair the first two times, but this time I got it cut by Mai. She’s super sweet and super patient. I’m extremely picky with my hairstyle after my incident last year. I’ve learned to speak up more and say what I do and don’t like. I also make sure to bring in a picture of what I am looking for.
Before they cut the hair, they give a head massage. It’s awesome.
The haircut experience was great. She really took her time and made sure everything was perfect. She gave styling tips as well so I would look great every day. I told her I’d like to tie my hair up and she did! So wonderful.
I’ve never been disappointed with my hair cut when I come here. Be sure to get a stamp card! Also, the stamps are worth DOUBLE if you go during your birthday month! I didn’t know– I wish I had waited just a few more weeks! Oh well!
