A Pat Moore Foundation

Simply put, I learned how to not only live, but laugh and enjoy life again there! That is no joke or fake outpouring of words… It has been and is continuing to be my experience.
I came to Pat Moore a broken man, family fed up with my mysterious ways, dwindling options to support even the basic functions of every day life, or the desire to even try anymore.
That has changed. Dramatically? Not necessarily… But gradually, with effort on my part to take the actions to change. I was given opportunities to participate, be free of outside pressures, and grow in an environment arranged in a way to best nurture another chance to be the man I always wanted to be.
Since my 3+ month stay there, I have returned many times to visit with clients (new and old), staff members I cherish (who know what the old life is like), volunteer to help in anyway I can, and show just in-​presence that «getting well» is possible.
There will always be a special place in my heart for Pat Moore Foundation.

Expensive and not for everyone.

I have worked with the Pat Moore Foundation on two different occasions trying to arrange help for two people I love dearly. My experience with their team both times was positive, caring, professional and compassionate. I have worked with Katy, Jennifer, Jeremy and Sherry and they all have been extraordinary. They make a huge effort to make a difference in the lives they touch, both with the patients and the families. With my son, they called me everyday during detox to give me an update on how he was doing. I have met a lot of different people in the recovery industry, and many of my experiences have not been positive. Sometimes it is hard at the beginning to tell the difference between the organizations that are really committed to the cause and those that are motivated by money with the ultimate goal of sucking every cent possible out of you. I have never had that type of experience with the Pat Moore Foundation. They have worked with me to create solutions that worked for our family, always with the best interest of the person in recovery in mind. I am grateful that someone made the recommendation to begin my son’s journey toward recovery with the Pat Moore Foundation and feel compelled to pay it forward. To the Staff at PMF, thank you. I will forever feel indebted to you for your kindness and compassion.

In Response to all the negative posts. Its Rehab People not an all inclusive Resort, there is no turn down service. My Daughter has been there since October and has adjusted well and is moving on to the next phase. as in everything you get out what you put into it. If you want luxury and pampering go to the Montage in Laguna Beach or the place in Malibu I’m sure they’ll pamper you and whisper in your ear what a great person you are all the way into your grave. as for the cost whats your life or the life of your loved one worth? There is no one size fits all recovery program AA and NA are free so is county jail. Hope this review helps !

Our initial impressions were positive when told about the program and the effort to get our son into the detox program. That turned quickly negative. Our son walked out of detox after a couple days because he was unable to manage his anxiety and was not able to find anyone to get the medication for that since he was alone in a bungalow detoxing. I was surprised that during a medically supervised detox nobody even saw him leave, but the staff did communicate with us and eventually we were able to get him to return. We were impressed that the staff sounded so compassionate and caring and our son later said that he felt they were genuine and sincere in the desire to help and support him. That’s the positive of the program. The negative is that each time he was there they were unable to find his suitcases with his clothing and toiletries within hours of him arriving. Since detox involves a great deal of sweating and physical discomfort it was upsetting that he could not change his clothing. He also felt isolated during the detox and that contributed to his severe anxiety although they did offer him the option of sitting with his counselor in her office to help once they were aware of it — also positive. Our frustration was the lack of communication from staff when we called multiple times and even sent text messages to the people who were so responsive getting him there and getting the payment. They were responsive to calls during the intake but not afterward. When our son left the program he asked for his bags and they were still unable to find them. One of the other residents stated that a staff member told several residents to feel free to go through his things and take what they want since he walked out. When he left a caring counselor followed him down the street trying to talk him into staying so she verified that he did not have his belongings, but a month after he left there we still could not get a return call and decided to physically sit in the entry until someone made the effort to look. We were told it would be hours because they were busy and they would call rather than have us wait. I didn’t get a call again. We did however get a bill from the doctor who did intake for double the amount they quoted. I called again two days later and were told they still didn’t find his things so I said I was coming down. I had provided an inventory of almost all his possessions that were in the two large bags and finally a director called back to ask us not to come because they could not find his suitcases. Suddenly there is a statement that the director is getting conflicting stories about what happened. Bottom line we got the run around and lost over $ 1000 in belongings. Heard this happened to others also. If you go, bring only the bare minimum and ask about protocol for managing property.

Pat Moore is horrible. i was just there and the staff sucks besides a couple people. josh is really cool. everyones nice the first day and then after that it sucks. Their whole program is weird and everybody else there agreed. no tv in your room and no ipods aloud. So you pretty much just get to look at the walls and think about how bad you’re feeling. The clients were really cool but there was quite a bit of stealing going on, along with using and people leaving because it sucked. Staff gets nothing done. i went Against medical advise and left and they only gave me one days worth of meds i was on, including one that a guy had a seizure from because he forgot to get meds. Place sucked end of story.

Pat Moore employs staff that wants to share the message of recovery. They work there to give back… Pay it forward. They put your needs first, they check on you very frequently and try very hard to help you with your struggles. Others have commented and complained on the living spaces… Well, they added beds in the cottages to be able to serve more people– to allow for more people to receive recovery. Pat Moore is a non-​profit organization, it’s not all about the money. They just want to pay the bills… to keep the doors open. I know this because I was gifted with a scholarship for treatment. I was in treatment for 60 days. And I know for sure that they allow many, many, many people to receive detox and treatment for no cost. (Scholarship). And also give really good deals on the cost. The upper staff has a passion for recovery and it shows through their loving approach. They just want to save lives. Those that complain on here had high expectations and weren’t humble. If you’re serious about getting clean and learning to stay clean, the environment shouldn’t matter that much. I was grateful to get clean. No matter where it was. It could’ve had tents and I’d be okay. And it IS very cute and comfortable. There’s housekeepers running around hitting rooms every day. (Treatment folks are responsible for cleaning their own rooms). Offering amenities isn’t their main focus… the program is. Clients are supposed to be working on healing and learning. You can’t get good treatment if your busy getting massages, working out, tanning and hanging out on the beach all the time. The food isn’t five star but its good. It’s just fine. There’s a great salad bar everyday.

well its hard to believe that Dr. Phil would endorse this place. it’s been on the show Intervention as well. Unfortunately this place has more people in it that are being paid to be there by the state of Calif.. So that should clue you in on the majority of the clientele. the have these little cabins that were originally built for 2 people and now they have 4. Some of the supposed «professionals» should be stocking shelve at Vons. everyone there seems overworked. the place is unclean. case worker never returned phone calls. They lack activities. lots concrete with ping pong tables.
it was told to me that the place was nothing like it is now, back when the followed their mission statement. now it’s turned into a cash cow and they are clearly milking it for all they can. such a shame.

The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because my mom is sober now. But the facility itself, awful. They are very unorganised. I feel like every time I call for any reason, they reconnect me to random number that isn’t even in service. Plus, my mom has gotten things stolen from her room and the staff has yet to do anything about it. It seems they just sit in the office all day and don’t even care what everyone is up to. The definitely dont keep the «sexes separate». Pat Moore is like one big frat house. Lucky my mom wanted sobriety enough to where she can just ignore the bad stuff and focus on herself. But Pat Moore definitely need to make some big changes.

I highly recommend The Pat Moore Foundation. Pat Moore is run by people who are in recovery themselves. They know what works and what doesn’t work. They are compassionate and respectful both to the addicted client as well as the family. Pat Moore also understands that there may be underlying conditions beyond the addiction itself and it works to identify and correct those and not all rehabs do that. My daughter found for the first time that she wasn’t alone in her challenges. Getting connected with a program and people who care is critical to healing. I like that Pat Moore also incudes the family in the recovery because understanding is critical for family members if they are to be supportive in the right way. I attended the parent meetings once a week which connected me with other parents and helped me to understand my daughter and visa versa. Ultimately, success depends on the individual themselves. They have to be willing to «do the work». I would suggest a 90 day stay for the optimum results. Statistics show that for any rehab, 90 days works best. Because of Pat Moore I’ve become dedicated to an al anon program. I can’t express enough what freedom this step has provided me in my life. I have found serenity at last. The fellowship and support I’ve found is invaluable as well. Pat Moore is truly a gift. I will always be grateful for the understanding and support I got there from the dedicated staff members. My daughter feels the same way.

They helped me, and I hear they’ve made big improvements in the 3 years since I’ve been there.
