Friendly, lively Mexican-style atmosphere, quick service. Enjoyed margaritas and Dos Equis on tap, with entrees of chile rellenos and shrimp with mushrooms. Good but not great food. Preferred food at la casita, atmosphere at Tequilas.

Solid Gringo-Mex food, dished up with friendly service, while cruising through the Four Corners region. Great historic pictures near the entry. Good times.

We ate here in mid July 2015. Nothing bad about this place, but nothing great. Had the green enchiladas with a sauce that tasted like it came out of a can. No pieces of chile in the sauce. But it’s a chain and I completely understood that going in. They run their business on the basis of costs and you can’t hand-make your sauce by roasting peppers over a grill, grinding them in a mortar, and cooking the sauce for 3 days.

Checked in at a hotel after driving all day through the mountains. The radio tuned to rancheros(what else on an 8 hour drive) swayed us to crave some Mexican food. The receptionist at the hotel suggested this was the best in town. The portions were right, the staff was more than hospitable and our waiter Pepe got it all right from the start. Try the chile Colorado, picadillo or grilled chicken. All good.

Very generous portions and staff was very welcoming. I added shrimp wrapped in bacon with no hassle! Would definitely come back if I was in the neighborhood.

Great meal! Fajitas were good, chile rellenos were excellent! Next time I will order several rellenos, they were the best thing there. Casual, friendly place, highly recommended.

A step above the usual Mexican fare. Great service, although very speedy. They definitely don’t want you to linger. We got the dinner for two for 26.95. Great way to sample a lot of different things. Still it’s just your typical Mexican restaurant with a bit more. We had a good dinner for a reasonable price. Definitely think the dinner for two is the way to go.

Great restaurant! The service was great and the food was delicious, for a very modest price. Pulpo A la Diabla was delicious!

The food was delicious and everyone wants to go back tomorrow night. We came here on a recommendation from a few years back and other Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. Combo platters are such a bargain and huge servings and the sopapillas for dessert were amazing.

Whoa, I was expecting average but my socks were blown off by the quality! We ordered the Parrillada to share and it was fantastic, easily one of the best Mexican dishes I’ve ever had! The shrimp, chicken, beef, and carnitas were done beautifully but melty cheesy bit in the middle sealed the deal. Coming from Southern California I’ve definitely have had a lot of Mexican food but this dish, Parrillada, at this restaurant, is definitely extraordinary. If you are within a thirty mile radius of Cortez and do not come here, you are messing up.

This might have been the most pleasant surprise on the entire trip. We were tired and worn out and only a few restaurants seemed to fit what we were looking for. I took the chile verde and it was absolutely fantastic. Just spicy enough but the flavors just exploded in my mouth. My mom had the carnitas de pollo and I think it’s the best I’ve ever tasted. It seems that any entrée you choose will be a good choice. It’s just one of those places. To top it off, the beer is pretty cheap and the waiter was funny and great! If you’re in Cortez then this is a no-brainer for dinner!

I would go back to Cortez just to eat the Chile Relleno and Sopito at Tequila’s. This is one of the best Mexican places I have ever eaten at. The food was very authentic, and the portions were very large for the price and we all left full and satisfied. I will eat here every-time I go to Mesa Verde from here on.

The burritos and shredded beef enchiladas were delicious. Frozen raspberry margarita were also very good. The chips and salsa were tasty with some good spice to the sala. Service at Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant was very attentive, with multiple people checking on our table to make sure we were taken care of. Overall the restaurant had nice ambience, fun decorations, great service, and good food. I would eat here again.

The interior is bright with painted chairs, colorful decorations and peppy music to get you in the mood for Mexican. Excellent service with chips and salsa to start, and an almost-constant water refill. The fajitas are around $ 12, burritos around $ 9. The chicken with mole burrito with refried beans and rice was good. Margaritas were popular at other tables, but at around $ 5 – 7, I held back. A pretty average Mexican restaurant, but you are in Cortez, so maybe the best choice! If it was a few dollars less for the meals and drinks, I would rate it higher.

Eeh. Tex-Mex median. Having spent many years in the Southwest and in Austin, I can’t even say this is great Tex-Mex(which I’m not a fan of anyway), much less anything like New Mexico cuisine or authentic Interior Mex(or even Taqueria). But it is a solid choice in Cortez, the service is friendly, and the margs are good. There are many options on the menu and it is a local spot, but again, there aren’t many choices in Cortez.

Tequila’s offers another great meal in Cortez, CO. Again this place was suggested by our front desk help and again they did not steer us wrong. I had one of the best chili rellanos I have ever had, it was like a soufflé wrapped around a fresh chili stuffed with cheese; it came with an equally delicious cheese enchilada. The husband had a carne asada dinner’; the beans were exceptional(they come from the area). The staff was attentive, the owner checked on us, the salsa was delicious(or is that yummy) and no one frowned when we needed more. Another great road trip meal.
