Great service, good food and charming old hometown atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

This is a very nostalgic place located in the heart of downtown Corsicana. It is well worth the short drive off the interstate to eat here. The drive to downtown might give you the desire to turn around, but I encourage you to continue the drive to Across the Street. My wife and I stopped to have lunch. Service at the beginning was slow, but after the waitress finally showed up all went well. Food came out extremely fast and was great. I had the Patty Melt(Hamburger steak with cheese and onions) on Rye Bread. My wife had the Chicken Salad Sandwich. We both ordered Hand Cut Fries which are made fresh. This place reminds me of the old downtown drug store I used to go to when I was young. Food prices are very reasonable and the folks here are very friendly. If we are passing by again we will definitely stop in again.

Excellent!!! We stopped here for lunch on our way to Dallas due to the other reviews on Unilocal.Thank you to all those previous reviewers because this was an excellent stop! Fun atmosphere and delicious food. Husband and I both got the burgers– cooked to a perfect med-well, juicy without being greasy. My dad got the red beans and rice with sausage that he raved about and my mom, who doesn’t usually comment on food said her Italian chicken sandwich was outstanding(though the marinara sauce was a bit bland for her tastes). Stop here for sure, you won’t be sorry.

The Texas Grilled Cheese was yummy! Just the right amount of cheese and the bacon was nice and thick. The atmosphere is very laid back and the staff is friendly. Will come back next time I’m passing through town.

I only had a burger and fries, but it was better than average. The burger was juicy and had a good flavor. The service was prompt and unobtrusive, the restaurant was clean, and the folks working there were nice. I will go back the next time I’m in Corsicana. Bonus points for the restroom setup… two restrooms, both of them are unisex, and a nice lavatory in between so people don’t have to occupy a restroom just to wash up. Nice touch.

We stopped here due to the Unilocal reviews. The reviews were right about the onion rings, very good. My husband got the burger, it was pretty good, bun was tasty. I got the Monday special, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and onion rings. The meatloaf had a good flavor but came out barely warm and the potatoes weren’t good at all and came out barely warm also! No Bueno! No flavor at all.

Meh. Chocolate shake wasn’t great — watered down with milk — ordered an omelette but they don’t serve breakfast after 11. Lots of sandwiches but no diner food like meatloaf etc — ended up with a salad ordered without blue cheese(and it came with it). Now I’m staring at my empty water glass while writing this. :(

Just stopped by this lovely diner for a delicious blast to the past! We had the Texas Grilled Cheese and the Chopped Beef sandwiches with onion rings and they were delicious! The wonderful service was offered with a smile, Gabriel was very sweet and polite. We will definitely be back again on our commutes between Houston and DFW!

Reminiscing about the old days with my mom and Grandma at an older style diner back home! Great breakfast! Very charming and full of character.

Cute little place. Like going back to the 1950’s. We just did the Sundae and a Malt and it was great. People are really nice and welcoming. What an excellent little place in downtown Corsicana

My sister and I ordered the classic burger with fries. Very, very good. Fresh and tasty. Booths, tables or can eat at fountain counter. Clean restrooms.

Stopped here based on Unilocal reviews. Stop on yourself! It’s an old fashioned soda fountain and diner. Looks like 1950s. Great service. Good food. I had the Special — chicken fried rib eye.

A great little diner with really decent food! I had the BLT with perfectly toasted bread a generous portion of bacon. My wife had the Cobb salad that was huge and came with really tasty vinegrette. Portions were fair, staff was friendly, atmosphere as low-key. A very enjoyable experience.

Wow!!! I was bummed because I couldn’t get home because of weather. After finding the Across the Street WINEBISTRO(next to the Diner), I found HUGEBLESSINGS in a less than stellar scenario… First, I sit at the bar — my practice, so I don’t take an entire table as a single, plus you can more easily get the insider-scoop. Beth, tending bar, was heartily welcoming, as was Dustin. I was instantly made to feel like family. Literally, just a few seconds after, Chef Terry and the owner Susan Bruce greeted me, sincerely engaging in conversation and making suggestions when asked. I am amazed at the authentic warmth and legitimate care these folks put into their craft. After a few questions, I decide upon the Mahi Mahi and(yes) a wonderful Pinot Noir(my personal fav!). WHOA Nelly!!! I was NOT expecting the epicurean delight!!! Mahi is not easy… This delectable delight is subtle Greek-style topped with heirloom tomato mélange, balanced w a sweet and slightly salty finish that is delicate and meaningful. Rosemary, herbed potatoes accompanied… a well-balanced accompaniment. But THEN Chef Terry came to check on me and mentioned the OTHER side: Cabbage… now, I should say, I like decent cabbage, but I’m not one to order it off the menu… OMG!!! The new cabbage dish was the perfect compliment! The spectacular cabbage ribbons are cider-braised, almost a citrus finish. Perfectly balanced w pork belly and love. I’m telling you, I would order this cabbage dish a la carte! What an amazing culinary experience with a new family! Thank you, Across the Street Wine Bistro!

I would have given 5 stars but the food selection was limited. The patty melt was good. Onion rings would have been better if they were hand battered. Kids popcorn chicken wad great! Plenty of food. The BLT was good. Had plenty of bacon on it. The hometown breakfest was good. You can have your choice of. Bacon, sausage or ham. We will have to try this place again.

We were daytripping in Corsicana. We always head for downtown – the heart of a small town. We also avoid chain restaurants when daytripping. Corsicana is really proud of its history. There are historical markers everywhere. When we saw that this was the site of one of Texas’ oldest soda fountains, we knew we’d be eating lunch here. The décor was cute: cherry red upholstery and chrome. However, it clashed with the lovely old tiles on the floor. Dr. Pepper memorabilia was all over the place. I loved the old black-and-white photos of the diner in earlier incarnations. I ordered a club sandwich on toasted wheat with onion rings. My friend ordered a grown-up grilled cheese sandwich with onion rings. He’d wanted french toast with powdered sugar but they’d stopped serving breakfast 30 minutes earlier. I was hoping for a total diner experience. The soda syrup bags were in plain sight, not hidden behind the counter. The menu didn’t list any malts or shakes although the equipment was there and I watched the soda jerk make a shake for a young customer. Maybe there was a hidden menu. My club was delicious! The turkey was thick cut. The ham was salty. The bacon crispy. The onion rings were thick cut, too. The breading stuck to the onion nicely. My friend loved his grown-up grilled cheese. The pimento cheese tasted homemade to him and he loved the tomato touch. The server dropped by three times to tell us that she’d be serving as our cashier. She also stopped by three times to refill our Dr. Peppers. I love these kinds of places!
