Choco Amore

I stopped by here while I was wandering around Coronado. The store has one of my favorite things a chocolate covered apple covered with cinnamon.
I am not a complete fan of cinnamon for some reason. However when it is paired with apples and white chocolate, then count me a fan. This store had one of those when I stopped in and walked out with my purchase. The treat tasted good. This chocolate covered apple is called the Apple Pie.
I also bought a few other caramel chocolate and caramel covered apples. The Rocky Road, which was really rich in flavor. I can’t remember what the third flavor was. The pricing was fair. about the same price that i have paid when i have bought other apple sweet treats.
The guy behind the counter helping me was not a stand out for customer service. Even when i tried to engage him in conversation.
The interior of the store was basic. They offered a few drinks for purchase. There was also other chocolate treats available like truffles, chocolate covered marshmallows and chocolate covered bananas.
Choco Amore also offers Catering for events. Which can be personalized to themes according to the event. They also make gift baskets. i don’t recall seeing any sample gift baskets on display.

We went there with our 6 year old son as a part of his birthday adventures that day.
We walked in and the female cashier behind the counter didn’t even offer a hello or welcome, in fact she seemed annoyed we were there.
So we only purchased him «Mint Chocolate Chip Bark with Oreo»
Was not going to fork over anymore cash to the rude classless worker of theirs.
Onto their Mint Chocolate Chip Bark w Oreo…
1^st off there wasn’t any mint flavoring whatsoever… And if their were chips they must have been invisible.
The oreo cookie looked brown… NOT black like an oreo should be.
The green bar looked and tasted exactly like something my mom would use to scrub out my foul mouth as a kid.
BTW they will not let you use your debit card for $ 5.00 or under.

This is as good as it gets! The chocolate is fantastic. The caramel is made right there on the premises. The crisp green apples are coated with this lush gooey caramel. There are many different toppings to choose from. You want it topped with pretzels, M&M’s, or just plain, it is all good. My favorite is the caramel apples with pecans. The service is great and the beautiful location makes it worth the cross over to Coronado if you don’t live there.

I loved this little shop. Conveniently located on Coronado near the ferry, I simply took the ferry from the other side to get here. It’s a tiny little shop with so much character. The chocolate aroma fills the air, and the glass displays make decision making tough. The staff was quite friendly and there were a variety of things to chose from. What particularly fit my fancy here was the array of candy apples. Traditional candy apple, caramel apple, but then caramel with pecans, caramel with peanuts, caramel with walnuts, m&m apple, white and dark chocolate apple, white and dark chocolate with nuts, coconut apple, the list goes on and on. I regret only buying one caramel pecan apple because it was quite possibly one of the best ones I’ve had in my life. Note for next time, buy at least 3. I’m hold the 5^th star for now because I can’t quite attest to the freshness of the other chocolate items. I’m not voting one way or the other yet, but I’ll need to visit again and test before I award a perfect.

Went here on a weekday evening with the family. It was off-​season, so the area was pretty quiet.
The girl working behind the counter was friendly.
I’ve tasted their caramel/​chocolate covered apples on a previous visit when my friend purchased it, and it tasted pretty good…
But honestly, a lot of the chocolates look old. It had that dry gray look that old chocolates get, you know what I mean? We ended up getting chocolate covered marshmallows for the kids, and good thing the girl behind the counter grabbed the non-​faded fresh looking ones. (Otherwise I would have specifically asked for them!) taste of those are as you expect. I tried a milk chocolate with caramel piece. It tasted okay, not overly rich or sweet.
The quality of alot of chocolates (aside from the freshness) look like they were made at home by anybody. But yea. It’s hard to look past the stale look. Maybe this company needs to invest in a different type of storage? It’s hard to imagine their employees/​owners don’t see what we see.
I would like better, especially considering the prices.

What an awesome little place! If you buy a good amount of candy it’s worth the price you pay. I walked into heaven here.
I had a bit of a sweet tooth after lunch, so I decided to stop by here. I was tempted to get their truffles (they looked soooooooo good) but I decided to go with their peanut butter dipped Oreo. I’m a pb fanatic and well. I had to. Originally I thought it was regular on, but it was not! It was nutty with a slightly sweet taste, and it worked with the Oreo. In the heat it melted everywhere (which made it better in my opinion).

Everytime we are at Coronado Ferry Landing we visit this cute little shop. I love that they have a variety of truffles and chocolates to choose from not to mention the sugar free versions. The caramel apples are to die for and very decently priced. Love this place.

Decided to get a truffle or two as we were walking around after dinner. My husband and I walked in and stood in front of the counter while the guy sitting behind the counter continued to peruse his phone. My husband finally asked him if he was ready, he looked up and shot back «I don’t know? Are you ready?» We should have walked out then but I’m a chocolate enthusiast. We picked out the Carmel truffles, coffee truffles and caramels in dark and milk chocolate. Honestly, we could have done better going to See’s Candies. $ 12 for 4 truffles and 4 caramels and you would expect them to be good but they were just ok. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it, especially with the rude people.
Update: After this review, I was contacted by the owner. He issued us a full refund, apologized for the bad service and offered a free specialty Apple.
Unfortunately, we never did make it back to try the apple but I appreciate that he contacted me and tried to make up for the problems we experienced so I changed my review from 1 star to 3.

This little store is warm and inviting, the young lady, Evy, at the register was super friendly and willing to help. I ordered one box of six dark and milk chocolate strawberries that were delicious! At 2.99 each that was a splurge for me, but it was well worth it.
I would recommend this shop if you’re in the mood for sweets and good customer service.

I had two of their caramel apples and I thought they were pretty good. My only complaint with them would be that the chocolate drizzle seemed almost old. My friends had their turtles and the chocolate covered pretzel sticks and did not like either, to the point where one friend wouldn’t even eat it.

5 stars for their apples, 2 stars for their turtles. The chocolate last time. tasted like soap.
But you will find me here every week getting a delicious caramel apple, so many choices!

Their chocolate dipped cheesecake is awesome! My wife loves their chocolate dipped strawberries and they sell it at less than half the price that u pay at Godiva. A must stop everytime you are in Coronado!!!

Yummmmm my favorite is the cheesecake apple… So delish, my son gets the normal Carmel and we are in pure bliss until it’s gone that is lol… Then for a stroll to see the amazing views of downtown perfect for a sweet tooth or something quick after diner.

I got m&ms chocolate bark and chocolate marshmallow pop (I took a menu just for future reference. The picture looked nothing like the actual marshmallow pop. But it still tasted delicious)
Service was mediocre at best. Dry and never made eye contact.
I would go back if I was in the area

One peaceful afternoon by the Coronado bay we walked by this place. The guy at the counter recommended sea salt and coffee truffle…
Sea salt one tastes like something sea salt bath scrub with old tootsie roll aka YUCK! The coffee truffle wasn’t bad a lot.
If you check in on Unilocal you get a free chocolate strawberry which wasn’t bad either.

When you check in on Unilocal you receive a free chocolate dipped strawberry. We got the Non-​alcoholic Piña colada it was delicious! Service was great and they workers pretty fast. We will be returning when we come back to Pacific Beach

Yummy chocolate covered apples! Been here a few times and tried a variety of them. These apples are great quality and the chocolate just melts in your mouth. Keep coming back here with the family just because they taste so good!
Wouldn’t come here for the service though, the guy at the cashier always seems like he’s not happy to be there, has bit of an attitude, & looks annoyed when you ask for a bag to put your apple into. Never really feels welcoming in here, luckily the apples are ready to eat & you don’t have to wait. I think that this guy should really have a better attitude, or at least have some other people working in there, someone who’s happy to be there!
Overall, really great if you don’t care about the way you’re being serviced. I recommend that people most definitely come here for the apples of course!

Imagine the worst off the shelf chocolate you could buy in a liquor store. Now imagine that chocolate with the sugar taken out and sitting on that shelf for a few months in an unsealed wrapper. That approximates the taste of the chocolate used here.
And they will charge you Godiva prices for it.

This is now one of our favorite stops when we’re at Coronado Ferry Landing. The chocolate candy and frozen desserts are really good here!
On our last visit to Coronado, a very sweet older couple, sitting at table next to us, were enjoying their desserts from Choco Amore. The gentleman mentioned that he loves getting the chocolate covered frozen banana with nuts. He said they were so delicious, and we needed to try them soon. Since he really seemed to know what he was talking about, my son and I decided to stop by here and grab one.
He was so right! These were so good. My son chose the chocolate covered banana covered with mini M&Ms. These frozen treats were messy and delicious. Choco Amore also had a great selection of chocolate candy and other wonderful things (cheesecake, strawberries, apples) dipped in chocolate with a ton of great toppings.
The service was good too. The employee who worked here was friendly and really wanted to get our desserts just right. She also made some great suggestions on toppings which made the chocolate covered desserts even more yummy.
This will definitely be a place we stop at when were back at Coronado Ferry Landing!

Choco Amore — absolutely delectable desserts!!! For those who love chocolates like Godiva, Guylian, and the likes — this is the place for you. The truffles will melt in your mouth, and the chocolate clusters are oh so delizioso!
The apples covered in cheesecake and rich dark chocolates cater to kids, adults, people of all ages! For those that are health conscious — this is your place as well! There is an endless platter of heavenly gratifying sugar free chocolates!
The staff is friendly, amicable and will help you pick out a flavor that suits your palette! All in all Choco Amore truly does pamper your sweet tooth.
