AAA Smog Check Testing

Quick, great customer service!
It was really nice to go in, get all the paperwork processed quickly. I was only in there for massive 10 minutes. Very friendly as well! I would recommend!

Excellent customer service. Came in around a week ago and talked to a young girl, I believe her name started with a «J» was very informative and friendly. All around good place/​will come back.

I’ve always like these guys, and have been going there for several years. However, I think I may have been overcharged for my last smog test back around November, 2015 (and possibly for my previous test as well). It seems, that as of January 1, 2013, AB-​2289 went into effect which makes the dyno test (and tailpipe sniffer) necessary for any vehicle 2000 and newer, under 14,000 pounds GVWR (which is probably 90% of their business). On these newer cars, SUVs and light trucks, all they need to do is connect their computer to the OBD-​II port and that’s it. This move away from the dyno testing is supposed to make the smog checks quicker and less costly for consumers. However, it’s only less costly if they do what they’re supposed to do and not run your vehicle on the dyno.
If they tell you they need to run a dyno test on your car, ask about AB-​2289.

I came here recently to get my daughter’s car a smog check. They work very fast, we did not have to wait that long. I would reccomend George if anyone goes. He is very kind & patient when we were asking questions about our car. I highly reccomend this place.

I had been dragging my feet on getting my smog check but the guy who helped me (I wish I remembered his name! Dark haired young guy) literally had me out of there in under 10minutes. He was friendly and very helpful. If I had known it was this painless I would have come in waaay sooner!!!

I arrived early Saturday in the morning just after they had opened and asked them how long it would take because I had an appointment. They said it would only take 10 minutes. I was surprised because every other smog I had done has taken about 30 minutes, and that was once they started on my car.
This place under promises and over delivers. I tracked the time and including the time it took for him to get my car into the bay, it took 8 minutes. Now that’s what I call customer service.
Both the secretary and the owner were very personable and friendly. I wish I could get this kind of service at other places. That’s the bad part that I only get to see these guys every 2 years.

The service was FAST. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. They also honored my $ 10 off coupon from Unilocal.Last, the lone employee running the entire operation today was friendly.

It’s time for a smog check? Head over to AAA. It is located in the back off the parking lot. A one man operation and His name is German. I was pleasantly greeted and got it done in about 10 – 15 minutes. I even got a $ 10 discount by using Unilocal.Nice.

Got in and out quick even though I had a bit of an issue. They helped me sort it out and I was on my way.

So here’s the deal… With the online coupon, you can get away with paying $ 45 for a smog check (including tax and everything). But if your vehicle does not pass smog, you will have to pay again for the retest. I think that is crumby. The smog check itself took like 5 minutes altogether, and I know this because I was the only customer in there.
It failed because I had just bought a new battery the day before since my car died. So I was told that when you buy a new battery or do any work to the engine etc it resets the computer in the car. And then they can’t get an accurate reading for the smog check. And I was told to drive it for 200 miles and come back for the retest. I did the 200 miles and came back. It passed smog. I paid the additional $ 30 for the smog retest. I was not happy about having to pay another $ 30 on top of the original $ 45, but whatever. So I guess what I’m saying is if you put a new battery in your car or had some work done, you made need to drive it a bit before taking it in for a smog check.
To be honest I think that question (do you have a new battery or have you done any work to it recently?) should be asked when you first walk in and ask for a smog check. That way your time and money isn’t wasted. But I’m sure smog places love leaving that little tidbit out because it gets them more money.
I took off a star because the receptionist working the front desk when I went in the first time was lazy and rude. I got the impression that I was annoying her because I wanted my car smogged. She just seemed like she didn’t want to be there, which is fine. I get that work is not fun, but as a customer service person you should put in some effort.

My buddy sent me to smog his car since he was at work. DB German at the counter asks if the car has any mods in which I replied yes a modified exhaust and then he says «don’t worry about it» and still proceeded to test the car. Keep in mind the car has been smogged 3 times since he has owned it and it has always passed with flying colors with the exact same mod. Car has factory Tune and primary cats. Also has CARB legal charge pipes. He pops the hood and clearly sees them installed and still smogs the car. Fails the car based off of visual inspection, but the emissions passed like always. Why didn’t he stop the smog the moment he saw the charge pipes? Why didn’t he say something at that point like «hey I can’t smog it because of this and that?» Instead he continued and failed it on purpose, I guess he really needed the $ 45 which he still charged on the «visual» fail. Car passed every emissions test and visual but because it had 1 shiny part he failed it, what a clown. Maybe he needs to go back to school and learn about carb legal parts or at least check the carb legal badge and run the numbers off of it. Rookies. Will never take any of my cars here and I will tell everyone else not to either. They’ll take your money knowing the car won’t pass and tell u after you’ve been charged lol. Could’ve told me before even running it and I wouldn’t have bothered trying. After a car has passed 3 times and nothing has changed you’d think it would be ok but this guy clearly doesn’t know high end vehicles. What a joke ALV con German. All good I’ll put the 1 part back on in 30 mins and take my business elsewhere.
**** The part is CARB legal so I figured there would not be an issue, as it never was an issue the past 3 times it was smogged across the freeway. That is why there was no need to replace it. He could have told me he was going to make it a big deal when he popped the hood and saw that part before he even started the test like every other shop would do. He didn’t even know what the parts on the car were, he said it had a modified intake when it clearly still has the factory intakes and filters. Wether a car is highly modified or if it has an intake or if it bone stock the rep should always take a look at the car before instead of «taking the persons word for it» because after all, he goes to school to learn what is good and bad correct? So why take the word of someone that is doing a favor for a buddy? Why not double check himself to make sure it doesn’t have any issues. I don’t care if he failed it, just should have been professional about it and checked for himself before he even started anything, That is all. Took the car somewhere else today, which is also star certified and once again emissions passed with flying colors and inspection also passed due to the 1 pipe being CARB legal. This guy actually referenced the carb number and did his job.

Highly recommended, especially for RV’s.
Today I received skilled and friendly service for a smog check on my RV. Relatively few stations can handle large motorhomes. The attendant, «German,» was very friendly on the phone and in person. He made sure to guide me into the testing bay very carefully, and helped me back out of the shopping center safely.
German performed the test quickly, and politely explained what he was doing at each step. He made sure that I was satisfied. Thanks for great service.

Great experience, was in and out within 15 minutes with no hassle and this was during lunch time. I had trouble remembering my Unilocal password and he gave me the discount anyway despite my amnesia.
Highly recommended.

Walked in at 12:22 p.m. Showed him coupon online. Walked out with passing smog at 12:39 p.m., and that was with another car ahead of me.
Doesn’t get any easier than that. The guy was working by himself, spoke English, very friendly, and the shop was clean.
