Pam’s Place

After reading awesome reviews about this place and the big portions I thought I check this out.
When I got there it was quiet and the people there were very friendly. There was a couple there eating, but it was still super quiet in there.
I ordered the two piece catfish and two butterfly shrimp combo. My dad ordered the gumbo. He offered to give him a taste so he can check it out before he ordered it. I thought that was pretty cool of them. I got the sweet tea and the tea is in the other room where they have tea (sweet & unsweet), lids, straws. When the plate came out since the pieces were small he gave me another piece of catfish on the house. Awesome! Now that does prove they have awesome service.
Only downside is that when I read the huge portions they had here I was envisioning huge pieces of shrimp or catfish. I am thinking they must mean the fact that you get two side dishes. The food was good. The catfish and shrimp were cooked just right with not a lot of grease. The sides were good. I loved the hush puppies having jalapeño pieces in it. The customer service here makes me feel super welcome.

Service was great! Portions are huge! The food was good and order the Dr pepper cake it’s fantasitic.

Great value for large meal portions and catfish is best around. Friendly owner/​operators and staff. Small family run business that has great food and service!

Love pams place! Speaking from someone who was born and raised in New Orleans, they have great catfish. We order from them all the time. Best potato salad and fried okra too. Recommend highly.

The catfish here is the best in town. I try and go here as often as I can and I am never disappointed. The wait staff is so good. I am glad this restaurant has opened in cove.

What a great little surprise! The Catfish was perfect and not over breaded. The only bad thing was that it wouldn’t cool off fast enough for me to eat it. Only 8 little tables, so don’t be late for lunch.

Such sweet ladies working the register and a welcoming atmosphere. Food was fresh and generously served. Not a place you would pop into off the street cause it wasn’t the best drive up appeal. BUT, those type places are generally the best and this place definitely fit the bill.

Go here, but not on weekends because they’re closed. Wait. What?!
I wish I could’ve found them sooner to visit more than once during my brief temp work assignment. It’s a small, family run establishment, serving up well prepared meals with a smile. I didn’t actually get to meet Pam in person, but I chatted with her sister, who was helpful and hospitable.
As with most food cooked to order there’s a bit of a wait for them to prepare it. It’s worth the wait. You can call ahead to save some time if you’re picking up a carryout order, but experiencing the kindness from nice folks and their cozy dining room is another level of awesome. Those sweet tea refills, though. It hits the spot.
I enjoyed a tasty combo platter which included: catfish, shrimp, clam strips, and hush puppies. Oh wait, it also comes with a choice of two sides. I went with cole slaw and green beans. Helloooo Food Baby! You could have a complete meal including dessert with just the side orders. Some items sell out and then it gets wiped from the dry erase menu board. I probably could’ve ordered bushels of these tasty snacks, but the hotel mini-​fridge can only hold so many to-​go boxes.

The hours are a little odd, but their catfish is spot on. I will definitely recommend this place to people looking for some good fresh catfish.

Pam’s place is a family owned restaurant with extremely nice staff and very helpful very friendly can’t say enough good things about them oh yeah and the food is outstanding there catfish is something to write home about

The BEST fried catfish in the area hands down! Large portions, friendly conversation, just plain good people!
The ONLY complaint that I can come up with about the Pam’s Place is that it is a bit warm in the dining area some days, yes I know that this is Texas but that’s the single complaint that I have. The temperature is generally tolerable by the time I’ve placed my order and gotten my iced tea.
My wife and I are regulars.

Ok, I’ve already given the restaurant a 5-​star rating and will not change that but I would like to add the following caveat. The potato salad is missing something. The reason I did not review it was that I have never ordered it. My wife had ordered it in the past and had forgotten that she did not like it, she ended up ordering some yesterday. As I was heating up some left-​overs I pulled the lid off of the potato salad and honestly could not identify the portion as potato salad, it looked really pale, kind of like mashed potatoes. My wife ate them but had to spice them up with seasoning. It was as she was about to add the seasoning that I asked her what the potato salad was missing but she couldn’t put her finger on it, I still haven’t tried them.
I plan to mention the potato salad the next time I visit the restaurant, the STILL have great food and the potato salad may actually taste good, just not to my wife and it does not look quite right to me, your taste may differ.

Amazing, from the very first step into this place you can really feel the good vibes. Everyone who works here is extremely pleasant which is hard to find in most dining establishments now a days. The food… wow its great, can’t really say much more beyond that. I’ve only had the catfish dishes now twice with a few different side options and I haven’t had one bad thing yet (Hush puppies, fries, fried okra etc). Me and my friends visited this place a week ago and each of us agreed this was an amazing dining experience at a very low cost. Check it out!

The service was so friendly. They don’t make the fish until you order so it comes put hot and fresh. Everything is fried in peanut oil. They also offer shrimp. They have green beans, fries, cole slaw, fried okra, and peach cobbler. My husband was very impressed with his food. I enjoyed the flavor but my hush puppies were cold and my fish was mushy not flaky. The seasoning used was delish.

The food was very good we got catfish and shrimp we came in a little late though so they were out of a lot of the side. They close very early on Thursdays and Fridays they close at 8 and Monday through Wednesday they close at 4 saturday and sunday their clothes but they do deliver and the food is very good you could tell that it is fresh and homemade one more downfall if you have kids they do not have a high chair.

I have been on the hunt for a good catfish place since I moved from Columbus, GA and the excellent Ezell’s Catfish Cabin. I can finally end my hunt, the catfish here is excellent by far the best I’ve had in Central Texas. I had the 4 piece Catfish plate with fried okra and green beans all of which were excellent. As an added bonus they offer a 15% discount if you have an active duty or retired military ID a much appreciated gesture.
