We are a full service Café inside Coos Bay Toyota on Hwy 101 in Coos Bay Oregon. We serve breakfast and lunch all day. We have Panninis, Salads, Soups, Waffles, Wraps, Ice Cream all made to order. Every thing is freshly made daily right here.

We also have a full selection of coffee drinks, like Lattes, Cappuccinos, Espresso, etc.

Come relax in our beautiful lounge with big screen TV and Fireplace, free wi-fi and computer for you free use.

History

Established in 2012.

When Guy and Lee Hawthorne were designing and building their new Toyota facility they thought it would be great to have a «stress free zone» and café right in the store. The Smiling Dog Café was born. Why «Smiling Dog»?, well… we have been dog friendly for years, so the name was coined by Summer Buckman, one of our Information Center assistants.

It has become the «Center» of our new facility. With 47 employees and a constant flow of customers into our new Express Service Quick Lube Drive, the café stays busy all day.

Joanna Franklin and her team; Aly Hatton, Priscilla Jeff, and Shantaya Cotton do all the cooking right here on site. Everything made by them fresh every day.

Lee Hawthorne has been in the auto industry for 46+ years and has owned Coos Bay Toyota for over 33 years. Understanding the importance of innovating for future consumer needs; from online presence to new customer oriented processes and express services, brother Guy and he have expanded the business from the original 9 employees to 47 today to ensure a quality customer experience.

Well this is an interesting idea. A little «café» inside the Toyota dealership. We were starving, passing by, and decided to try it out. Had a little grilled panini burger which helped carry me over to dinner time. Don’t think I would make a special trip here, but if you’re getting your windshield wipers serviced or your muffler bearings changed, it beats sitting around reading a year old copy of «Women’s Health» until the mechanics are done.

I’ve never been to a restaurant in a car dealership. But hah kudos to them for thinking outside the box. It doesn’t feel out of place. The sitting area transitions smoothly into the waiting area for the dealership customers. Reportedly lot of dogs come by but I have yet to see one.
Menu is pretty simple and straightforward. I tried the philly panini with chipotle mayo. Was quite good. Will be back again to try other dishes.

Love this place! Stopped by for lunch, hard to find because it’s in the Toyota, but so glad we took the chance! Simple menu, salad and panini sandwiches. It didn’t come out super fast, but we didn’t have to wait forever. Just fresh yummy food! However, if you are not a fan of dogs, this may not be the place for you. They had two adorable labs walking around. We loved them :) great for lunch!

Breakfast in a car dealership?! Well, we just went with it, and what a great little place. Two full breakfasts with coffee and bacon for $ 11.00. Fireplace, easy chairs or regular tables, unusually friendly staff, good bakery items all home made. Don’t let the car dealership location put you off, this place is a winner!

The people are super nice and they had cute corgis running (well, waddling) around. There were some comfy chairs and it seems like a nice relaxing place to hand out. The coffee was okay, but really hot. I burned my tongue a little. Not the greatest coffee in the world, but an enjoyable place none the less. They had some good oatmeal and the other food looked good.

I’m a big fan of the Smiling Dog Café. We actually look forward to servicing our Toyota as a good excuse to dine here. I love the sandwiches, my vegetarian wife can always get something delicious and the kids have yet to complain. Speaking of which, the play room for the kids is great.
