Established in 1950.

The O’Brien family built the first Motel in Cooperstown to serve the visitors to our charming tiny Village and to the nationally famous museums. We have always featured lower accommodation prices and can serve families (up to six) is our special family wing.

Al O’Brien grew up in Cooperstown; and he shook hands personally with the legendary Babe Ruth (June 12, 1939) when the National Baseball Hall of Fame first opened.

Reviewing Albert O’Brien as a former tenant of one of his apartment houses– I warn you now– DO NOT RENT FROM THIS MAN. First of all, he never returned my security deposit after I moved out and never even provided an explanation why, even after I requested one. The apartment was left clean and undamaged. He actually hung up the phone on me. Do not force yourself to spend a year’s lease renting from this rude, uncaring landlord. His employees will tell you to pay for repairs to the apartment yourself (i.e. broken shower faucet) stating that «Al won’t pay for that. That’s just Al.» The apartments themselves are pretty crummy. The floors are *painted* which has a sticky, tacky texture in the heat– which by the way, will be all year long. My apartment was always HOT. It was also dirty when I moved in, even after I asked them to clean it first. By that point all of my stuff was in a U-​Haul and I just wanted to get moved in. I imagine there is an unpenetrable layer of filth covering the surfaces of the apartment. I have also heard terrible things about his motel. Don’t do business with this guy.
