Best Western Plus Cooperstown Inn & Suites

Stayed here for just one night. The night mgr was a very sweet helpful man. I explained that i was having a medical procedure in the morning and was very nervous so he made sure that he put my me & my husband in an upstairs room, with no «neighbors». The room was clean and very comfortable. Extra blankets and pillows, lots of towels and contrary to some of the other reviews we had no issues with lights from outside, noise or odors from the surrounding restaurants. They were under a little bit of construction in the lobby area but it did not affect my stay at all. Standard room with a King size bed for 90 bucks free wifi, parking and brekkie. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

My dad and I came up for a night to check out the baseball hall of fame.
$ 81 for a ground floor double queen bed room with a flat screen tv and fridge, you can’t beat the price
Clean hotel with many amenities, a few miles from the town center, strip mall adjacent to the hotel with grocery/​Chinese restaurant is convieanant

There are two buildings – the main building, and an annex. We were given a room in the annex. The walls are paper thin, and you will hear absolutely everything –above you, in the room next to you, from the hall. We got a pretty good price on the room (which was ok– clean and pedestrian), but I would have paid twice as much for a good night’s sleep! Don’t waste your money – stay someplace nicer.

The manager was very unhelpful and unfriendly when we tried to book rooms at the hotel. While we understand there is high demand for the hotel rooms, we did not appreciate the «either you take it or don’t» attitude from him. We had hoped for better service at an established franchise.
We found out each Best Western is independently owned and this particular one has some really unreasonable policies when it comes to booking hotel room blocks.
I would advise anyone who is planning on booking rooms at this hotel not to. I rarely have such negative experiences with a business. This is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had when it comes to working with a hotel and I have traveled far and wide.

This hotel is incredibly over rated. While the service was nice be warned that the hotel room itself is small and dirty. The room is cramped and the floor carpets, bed cover and the curtains were all dirty and stained. We found a silverfish on the curtain when we pulled it closed! The bathroom had no tissues both nights. Another inconvenience is that the swimming pool is indoors and so the hours are relatively short. Only open 8:30am– 9pm, so there’s no night time hot tub enjoyment. The continental breakfast, helpful front desk, and the free coffee bar is the only reason they got 3 stars.

This 20+year old hotel looks brand new, located just a short drive from downtown Cooperstown, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
It’s between two competing hotels that we were also considering, however after reading the reviews, the Best Western had a better rating, better value, better price than the Holiday Inn Express and the Country Inn and Suites. Out of the three, only the Best Western offered Queen beds for the same price!
This hotel is also right in a shopping plaza where there are ample eateries, grocery store, mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, subway, and a Chinese Place!
Rooms are clean and updated with a flat screen TV even though there were very few HD channels! Medium refrigerator and microwave was standard. Indoor heated pool and fitness was clean and just good enough for a short stay!
The only con to this almost 5 star rating is the noisy AC unit below the window! Otherwise for this under $ 100 room, it’s a 400ft Home Run!
Why anyone would stay here in this area would only be for the Cooperstown Baseball Hall Of Fame. This area is very rural, desolate and country farm infested! Big city visitors feel a reality check for sure!
Front desk check in was friendly, fast, and polite! Parking was free, wifi relatively fast and free, hot breakfast choices along with continental fares was also complimentary!
So don’t assume just because it’s a Best Western that you’re not getting a better experience from their reputation, this location, in Cooperstown no less, definitely impressed this frequent hotelier.
If I’m ever in this small town again, which I highly doubt, I’m definitely staying here!

My family and I stayed at Best Western Plus in Cooperstown last weekend. We had a wonderful time. Everyone we encountered who worked at the hotel was helpful and very gracious and willing to assist with any issues or questions. The indoor pool/​hot tub was a great addition for my children and the buffet breakfast was outstanding. Besides visiting The Baseball Hall of Fame which was wonderful, our stay at Best Western Plus in Cooperstown was excellent and would recommend it to everyone.
I think the time of year has a lot to do with many of the negative reviews. If you come directly in the middle of the summer or during an induction, it will be very pricey and exhausting I would think. Off season so much more enjoyable.

Not the great deal that others wrote about. We paid about 250 a night for a junior suite. Did we get screwed or what? Perhaps it was due to the start of baseball camp season.
PROS
Spacious room with comfy beds.
Attractive grounds with gorgeous views of rolling hills.
Convenient location to Dreams Park. Located near a strip mall with fast food places plus a great little Chinese restaurant, China Wok.
CONS
Room was way overpriced.
Housekeeping glitches included loose toilet seat and housekeeper locking us out of our bathroom TWICE.
Staff is completely lacking hospitality skills. Every interaction showed that lack.

It’s a chain hotel. Nothing very special. If your hungry there’s a few chain restaurants close. Pizza Hut and McDonalds are about 20 steps away. There a liquor store as well. The room it self was not bad at all. Two beds a shower and tv. It’s all you really need especially when you have no plan on staying in your room all day and night. It’s just outside the cooperstown prices from hotels that jack up prices for being a walk away. You can expect a 15 min drive which was fine by me. All in all. For a place to sleep shower. Best western was just right. There was nothing overly fabulous warranting 5 stars. Just good to get RandR after long day.

great value and convenient to everything in the area! …free and wasy wifi, easy parking, and located in a little shopping complex with a supermarket that stays open late… the indoor pool and hot tub is a welcome site. Our room was clean as a whistle… as was the breakfast area… which had all your basic breakfast carbs… nuttin’ special… but, at least they had two of those awesome waffle makers… and plenty of hot coffee… and considering the price we paid for the room…90 bucks including tax for a saturday nite… I can’t complain. I’d stay here again inna heartbeat.

This hotel is located quite a ways from the main strip in Cooperstown. The main reason we ended up here is because many of the other hotels in the area don’t allow online reservations and I didn’t have time to call around to try to reserve a room.
It was clean enough and typical of a Best Western. It was also typical of what I found in Cooperstown – large groups of people traveling together with lots of kids who acted as if they owned the place. These larger groups were uncouth and wandered around overtaking various venues with their loud obnoxiousness.
This hotel was no exception. When we came back from dinner around 9 pm on a Monday night, the lobby was packed with a large group consisting of ~12 kids of various ages and perhaps 8 adults drinking at the bar. Some of the older kids were lounging around on chairs in front of the tv with their legs hanging over the arms of the chairs. Others were running around yelling. The adults seemed to feel no need to control or admonish them and simply went about drinking. This was pretty much par for the course in Cooperstown, we discovered. You could even hear the kids in the lobby in the hallway outside of our room even though there was a glass partition at the end of the hallway that separated the lobby from the rest of the hotel.
This Best Western cost a bit more than your typical Best Western. Perhaps it’s because of the «Plus» although I’m not sure what was plus about this particular hotel.
Anyway, the hotel was ok – no major complaints aside from the other lodgers. Oh and the free wifi was very dependable.

FIVE STARS REALLY?
When we arrived into the two rooms we booked both smelled like a
Pizza Hut entrée. One room it was garlic breadsticks and the other a bad sub sandwich. Pizza Hut and McDonald’s are located within a stone’s throw of the hotel. Over the two nights we stayed in those rooms the smell never disappeared. The sheets in all four beds were like heavy gauged sandpaper. One morning both rooms had no hot water. When it was reported to the front desk, I was told «really? the engineer just checked the water heater a moment ago and it’s fine.» My response was «Do you think I am lying to you?» Wrong response to make to a paying customer.

Good value in a great location for access to Cooperstown area activities.
Very family friendly.
Pros:
–Very clean and comfortable room with added benefit of nice flat screen TV, microwave, and moderate size refrigerator.
–Friendly and helpful staff.
–Free Wi-​Fi, small, but adequate, in-​door pool and hot tub.
–Free Breakfast with a variety of hot or cold options to choose from.
Cons:
-«safe item» charge of $ 1.00/day. This fee is charged whether or not you use the room safe. We objected and it was appropriately removed.
–currently being partially renovated but that is a good sign.
Overall, I recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel Best Western Hotel and Suites Plus to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame and was very happy with our stay. The price was right and the accommodations were very nice and clean including the bathrooms. The staff was pleasant and checking in and out was a breeze. Great place to stay but 4 miles away from downtown. It is conveniently located next to a supermarket, liquor store, McDonald’s, Subway and Pizza Hut. I’m not really into staying at a Bed and Breakfast or Inn and the large hotel was just too expensive. Very happy with my choice and would definitely go back and stay at this hotel again.

We had an amazing experience. We booked the hotel a few minutes before we planed to check in to rest up from the long ride from Boston and from an amazing day visiting Cooperstown Main Street and the HOF.
It is in a great location. There’s a McDonald’s and Pizza Hut in the complex along with a grocery store. When we were there, there was a dollar store, and since our return I don’t remember seeing one there.
The pool was a good size for the newly hotel. It was perfect for what its purposed. The hotel lobby was very clean and welcoming and the staff was friendly. There are two parts to this hotel the main branch of the hotel where the lobby and pool and breakfast is. We stayed in the other building across from the main building. Our room was very nice and at the time affordable. We only paid 89 dollars and it was in April. (Note: for hall of fame weekend prices range from 350– 495 dollars a night give or take) The room had a seating area when you first walked in and then separating the seating area was a island bar that had a microwave and mini fridge. After you walked pass the island bar there were two queen beds, which were very comfortable. There was a TV in the bed area and you could rotate so you can see it in the seating room area. It was a very spacious and good hotel room.
I would recommend this to a friend and I would stay here again. This is a great hotel to stay in for the off season and even for HOF weekend if you want to splurge and are looking to stay a couple miles from the main streets of cooperstown. if your looking for something close to the HOF. The room we stayed in was a great room for a large family visiting. It was clean and comfortable.

Stayed here a few days to visit the baseball HoF and had a great time. Pool was smallish but adequate for the kids to take a dip. Breakfast was nice with sausage, eggs and self made waffles, fresh fruit and coffee/​tee. Everything is clean and staff was polite and helpful. Well worth it, not the Ritz but more than nice enough for family.

Even though they are currently renovating the hotel was very nice. The staff was super friendly, and the hotel ammenities are top notch.

This is a terrific value, in my view. It’s 4.7 miles from the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, and it’s located in a strip mall off Route 28 with a supermarket, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, video store, and several other businesses. There’s plenty of parking, and it’s a low-​crime area (you would never feel unsafe here).
I paid $ 61.99 plus tax ($ 72 altogether), at the AAA rate, for a room with two queen-​size beds. The room was clean and spacious; the furniture seems to be of recent vintage, and the beds were firm and comfortable. The pillows were incredibly comfortable, in fact; I considered buying them, which I have never, ever contemplated at a hotel or motel.
My room had a four-​foot-​tall dormitory-​style fridge that worked fine; above it in a nook designed for the appliance was a newish microwave, which I didn’t use. The TV is a tube model and kind of small, but I wasn’t here to watch TV. There were about 90 channels, all of which worked, and even better, I was able to tune the TV to static and use that as my sleep white noise. That’s not always the case on hotel TVs (often, the TV will mute the static automatically).
The room also had coffee and accessories, which I didn’t use, a hair dryer/​ironing board (didn’t use), a wall safe (did use), and soaps and shampoo (didn’t use). The bathroom was clean and spacious. There were no stains anywhere on the walls or ceilings. Water pressure and temperature were excellent.
Free Wi-​Fi is provided in the room, and though it was sometimes a bit slow, it worked fine.
I didn’t have many dealings with the front desk (just to check in and out and to set a wakeup call, which I ended up not needing), but those I did have were pleasant.
There is an indoor pool which I had no interest in but looked clean enough. A family seemed to be in the kiddie portion of the pool on my second night.
My room was on the first floor; all entries are interior, as far as I could tell. My room was abutting the sidewalk and parking lot, so I had to keep the drapes closed.
Oh, the one minor irritation, if you could call it that: the heating/​air conditioning unit (which worked fine) is located directly below the curtains, so they would billow when the unit was on (which was all the time, given the single-​digit temps for most of my stay). I just put one of the side chairs in front of the center of the curtains to keep them essentially closed.
I know the rates here are seasonal and go way up in the summertime to make as much money as possible off people coming to the Hall of Fame, which is why I come up here in the winter. (This is my first time staying at this hotel; I have stayed at other hotels in the vicinity.) So I think this hotel is way undervalued (and thus a steal) at $ 71 a night; at checkout, the front-​desk manager told me the summertime rate is $ 235, and you know what? It would be worth every penny.
