I’m wondering if it was the Patti mentioned in Allison’s review of 4 days ago that I had a very unpleasant experience with today. I had never consigned anything before. I walked in at 10:15 and said I wanted to consign a jacket. The woman said«we don’t take consignments until 11:00». I said«the sign on your door doesn’t say anything about different hours for consigning». She said that the windows were washed yesterday and the sign hadn’t been put back up. I again mentioned that there wasn’t any signage stating that consignments were taken at 11:00. Finally she told another associate to take me to the consignment desk to sign me in. When she came back, she handed me a piece of paper and said«here, this tells you how this works so next time you’ll know the rules». I asked her why she was being so rude, and she said that she didn’t like my attitude when I questioned the fact that there wasn’t any sign stating consignment hrs were different than store hours. So I took my jacket back and told her that there’s no way I’m going to give my business to someone so rude. Needless to say, I will never cross their doorway again. I tried to rate this place zero stars but not an option.

I have shopped at this store many times in the past because I can always appreciate a good deal and do not mind buying used items, as long as they are in acceptable condition for the price. That has never been an issue before until today. After grabbing multiple items to buy, I came across a pair of sandals that caught my eye. When I picked them up, I saw that they had very noticeable wear and black marks on the soles. I was very surprised to see that they were $ 26, especially since shoes of this particular brand are not more than $ 35 brand new, so I was expecting they’d be about $ 10-$ 15 with the condition they were in. I went to the front counter and explained the situation to the cashier and asked if they could offer any additional discount, based on the condition of the shoes, especially since they claim not to accept items with very little to no signs of wear. She said the only person who could give approval was the manager«Patti» and directed me to the back of the store to where she was. I went back there and noticed a woman behind the counter and asked if she was Patti. She responded«yeah?» in a very rude tone and gave me the dirtiest look, like«how dare you come back here and bother me?» I explained that the cashier had directed me to her and again explained the situation with the shoes and asked if she would consider giving a discount to reflect the condition of the shoes. Without even looking at them, she immediately said«no, they’re priced to reflect that» in her same rude tone. Well I guess that’s that. I could not bring myself to give that store any of my business after being treated that way by the«manager» or whoever she was and promptly put all the items I was going to purchase back on the shelves. Not giving me a fair price on heavily worn shoes is one thing, but there is no reason for a manager to be so rude and dismiss their customers like that. Needless to say, I went straight to DSW right afterwards and bought a very similar pair of shoes of the same brand new for only $ 8 more. I guess that says it all.
