I’ve been visiting Cool Beerworks since it opened. Great food and excellent Beer. Monkey Nuts is the best beer I ever had. Love this place.

We have come here for the excellent beer several times but wanted to try the sushi and poki bowls. The service was excellent but were disappointed with the food. I ordered a small ahi tuna poke bowl. It came with rice and sauce and for an extra cost, I added on avacado and cucumber. It came to over $ 10.00. The bowl had plenty of ahi tuna but it tasted old and fishy. Fresh ahi should not taste fishy. I ended up removing the ahi from the bowl and ate basically rice, sauce, avacado and cucumber. The sushi was ok, again, it was blah and it did not taste fresh. We will continue to come here for the excellent beer, ie, their triple IPA is outstanding and the coconut porter was excellent but we will skip the poki bowls and sushi.

Went in after the kitchen was closed for a couple beers. Service was good and beers were nice. I would go back.

The last time I’d been to cool beerwerks they had your typical pub food. Wings, fries, etc. It also had that typical bar feel to it also. Sometimes change is good, but not this time. Since my last visit a few months ago management/owners whoever decided it’d be a great idea to completely take the bar experience out of the establishment and make a poor, poor attempt at being the«hip» place in town by adding sushi as the go to choice for nourishment. Also, to add the craft beers are a 2⁄10 at best. Service was piss poor as well. Service to my party was non existent until I walked to the bar for a glass of water. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed with the direction of cool beerwerks. Not going back ever again.

Thought it’d be another mediocre sushi place, especially at the price. The second I opened up the take out box I couldn’t be more wrong. My eyes were blinded with fat colorful sushi rolls. My nostrils were filled with the aroma of fresh sushi. The box was warm. I was quite in shock! As I bit into it I was reminded of what good, fresh, high quality sushi is like from my Mikuni days at a way cheaper price. Awesome place especially for such a small town. Will be back! Thanks for the amazing sushi! P. S. My girlfriend got the chicken teriyaki which was also amazing. P. S.S. Didn’t have the beer so can’t comment there.

I had a similar experience as others with recent reviews. The server/bartender was a little chilly at first, but to his credit warmed up as time went on. Also wanted to order a flight and was informed they were out of 3 or 4 of their 8 beers. Also I personally am not a fan of sushi as the ONLY food option, because sometimes pub grub is what you want with beer. The sushi is decent, but I wouldn’t say excellent. The owner has always come and said hello and is so so friendly, which goes a long way! Essentially a good spot, but gets a ‘needs improvement’ for some of the above.

I’ve never been treated so poorly in my entire life. The bartender seated us and didn’t even say hello. He asked if we were having anything to drink and then mumbled what beers they were out of when we said we wanted to try a flight. After about 3 minutes of him being EXTREMELYRUDE and condescending, we decided to leave.

I like how they combine beer & sushi… that’s one of my favorite combos. We didn’t have the sushi, but just ordered a beer. My husband is a homebrewer & right away picked up that the beer(IPA) was rancid. It had the telltale ‘bandaid’ bacteria flavor. They were out of practically every other beer(and it was NYE too which was strange) so we didn’t even bother to try a different beer. I’d try it one more time hoping that was an off day… but really not impressed.

Good sushi, and food. Just wish they had more beer on tap. Super friendly service. Great addition to the community.

So yummy. Had another delicious dinner. So lucky to have this great restaurant in our tiny town… We had great service as well from one of the owners. They made one of our rolls with a couple add ons of my favorite things!!! It was soooo good!!! Thanks again!

I was planning to make this a stop on a weekend hike, and I was planning to drink a few beers and eat. I got as far as a stale tasting pilsner, ignored for a second round since I am not friends or family of the too«Cool» staff. The space is way too big for a late lunch crowd and the few customers were huddled at the bar, so no excuse for busy. A brewer was busy among the kettles — no mistake this is a real microbrewery, but he needs to have a discussion with the bar staff about attention and attitude. This brewery has a great location and a built in audience on that stretch of 49, so WAKEUP. It could be really good. I am a fan of local beers and the warehouse vibe. I don’t want themed décor or fine dining service at a brewery, but I didn’t get the chance to try the English Strong Ale or Milkbone Stout, and never will. Next time I am crossing the Divide, it’s straight to Coloma Club.

We ended up here completely by chance, since nothing was open on Sunday in the area. I don’t feel like I have enough experience to review the beers, so this review is for the food. The menu for lunch was very simple. All 5 of us ordered the burgers and we got a plate of garlic fries to share. The garlic fries and the fries that came with the burger were nice, golden, and crispy. I hate soggy fries and I wish we lived closer because I would stop in for the fries alone. Like the menu, the burgers were also very simple. Simple does not mean average or mediocre. It means keeping your ingredients minimal and using quality to let the flavors of the food shine. Hands down the best burger I have ever eaten, equally as delicious as cold leftovers the following day. The burgers are handmade and huge. I like that the patty was wide as opposed to overly thick, smaller patties. The bun had a sweetness to it that wasn’t overpowering, but just enough to complement the meat. Burgers come with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and purple onion. There is a variety of cheese to choose from if you like; I got ghost pepper. The ghost pepper cheese added a nice heat to the burger, but wasn’t so ridiculously spicy that the heat was all you could focus on. The burgers were more than most of us could finish in one sitting and living over an hour a way, we were glad to take home the rest for seconds(and thirds!). My boyfriend said he would drive an hour and a half just to come here, have a burger, and drive another hour and a half home. Definitely worth a try. Atmosphere is nice and clean. Service is casual, warm, and friendly; even as out of towners, we felt like regulars.

We drove out to Cool, CA to try out Cool Beerwerks. We had tried their beer before at a brew fest and loved it, so we decided we had to come to their brewery and try some more! When we walked in we were automatically greeted by the bartender, Steve. He was very friendly and talked to us as though he had known us for years! He was very good at making us feel welcome and made sure we were having a good time. We ordered a couple beers and they were delicious! I wish we had time to try them all! If we are ever in Cool, CA again we will make sure to stop by! Great beer and great service!

A destination for food and beer in the gold country! Don’t judge this place from the outside. Great find! Live music, great people, and pool table for just enjoying the place. My son said the garlic fries are ‘rhe second best he ever had’. They are double fried, crisp, and smothered in chopped roasted garlic. The beers we had — black silk and blonde — rocked! Food is simple and amazingly good. We had burgers and roast beef sandwiches. Very service oriented staff. Willing to make substitutions on the menu.

So first and most importantly… the beer. I am a big IPA fan and they have two decent IPAs… What surprised me is that the Pale Ale was my favorite.(two of us had the flight and chose different beers so we tasted everything.) My second favorite was their Steam Punk Ale(an English Strong or Brown). Again a surprise. I even enjoyed the Honey Wheat– A wheat? Me? Was it the heat? I don’t think so. I will drink a Lagunitas Maximus on the beach any day. The Bourbon Black had nice flavors but I am not a fan of the flatter cask beers so I didn’t like it as much as my husband did. To the food – Our friends, regulars of the spot, ordered sliders and tacos. We should have paid more attention… We asked about the jalapeño crab cakes. She implied that they were jalapenos stuffed with crab and cream cheese and deep-fried. Maybe we made that up in our minds because that sounded so AWESOME, but alas, they were little chopped up and shaped fish sticky/chicken nugget-like garbage. We also ordered the chicken flautas – another mistake. They were all grease and no chicken. Costco comes to mind – AND to really burn my butt, the guacamole listed on the menu was nowhere to be found. Plus the salsa was in a teeny tiny little ramekin. I could say«big surprise» since brew pub food has always been greasy, but not so much anymore. Many brewpubs have great food. Remove from your menu the garbage and sell the stuff you can make. If I go back, I’ll try the beers again, but I’ll stick to the tacos and/or sliders. If I could rate the food separately, it would be less stars but I rated for the beer because that is why we came.

CB is located in a commercial strip that includes a fancy grocery store and a bank. The space was large, inviting and lively with an adult birthday party celebration in the werks. The décor and high top tables seemed very spread out and there was a lot of open floor space, it would be a great venue for live music and private events. I had their specialty beer flight which consisted of 4−4oz pours; 2 guest beers and 2 house brews. I had the Chocolate Porter and Old Rasputin guest brews and their popular Blonde and Octoberfest house brews. All were good in their own right. The food menu was a little bit of an after thought. It was very limited variety and I was shocked there wasn’t even a burger option available. What?!? Where’s the beef? The hubs and I split the Korean BBQ meatballs [4 balls total] and the Kahlua pork sliders [4 sliders made with King’s Hawaiian dinner rolls]. The meatballs are described as melt in yo mouth and they did just that, so savory and delicious. The sliders were okay, really nothing special.
