IKEA – Conshohocken

Love the place. I used to even bring my kids to Small land. You get that one hour of sanity without running after the little ones. I wish they would do the same with teenagers.
We usually go in the evening and enjoy the restaurant first and then shop.
Never leave without their cinnamon rolls from the café!
I just did my entire kitchen in Ikea. So easy: just don’t rush and read the instructions or you will get frustrated.

Oh, Ikea, I pretend to hate you but I actually kind of like you.
So the good — they do have everything. Their quality has improved significantly in the last decade. So much so that when I needed a kitchen cabinet to turn into a furniture piece (and nearly fell over getting prices at the local big box and cabinet stores), when I saw a piece I liked at Ikea, it got logged on a sheet and picked up (in pieces to assemble, of course) at the furniture pick up on our way out. Staff is friendly.
The bad — this place is monstrous. I find it difficult to just get in and out for one thing. There are short cuts to an extent but I normally end up on a long wonder (and always choose the wrong shoes and end up with sore feet). Consider it a maze — they want you to see everything and wear comfy shoes! Staff can be hard to find (especially on the weekends — it’s a busy place!). When we bought the cabinet, they pulled one of the wrong pieces (we ordered 2 medium & 2 small drawers — ended up with 3 and 1). We should have double checked the cart that they gave us at furniture check out, but still annoying to have a piece built and not realize the drawers aren’t closing right because they gave you the wrong pieces.
The ugly — nothing. Except that if you are tired and hangry while you are finally waiting to check out after a few hours of wandering, you will be even hangrier as you watch the café selling ice cream in front of the registers. :)

This Ikea is great, though my personal experiences have all been had during the week when everybody is working.
Great staff, a lot of selection, the shipping option was great. We purchased a bed frame, desk chairs and a couple desk tables from them and had them bring it up to the apartment. Was a fair price, super fast same day shipping too. We live about 1 mile away though so it makes it much easier and affordable.
The food is not the best, (tastes almost the same as every other ikea i’ve been to) but if you’re going to eat, i would highly recommend the swiss meatball dish with all the fixings. It’s actually really good though it looks slightly questionable.
Also, be sure to grab one or two of their Ikea bags because they are incredibly useful for laundry, grocery shopping and all the things. Those bags are so helpful. I can 1 man all my food upstairs with one of those things. It’s great. Every ikea has one though I just thought I’d throw that out there too.

It’s the same Ikea you’d find anywhere in the world. However, I like this branch much better than my previous branch in Brooklyn because there’s tons of available parking, it’s not nearly as crowded, and the staff are much more pleasant to deal with. The bathrooms were a bit on the disgusting side, but that was the sole downside of the afternoon.
In the end, instead of leaving haggard and irritated we left in good time and got our shopping done without much fuss. All around good Ikea experience.

It’s IKEA… It’s not like we are talking Saks! You get what you pay for & that’s that. If you want high end then go somewhere else. Service has gotten scarce in past years. There used to be at least 1 – 2 people per department. Now finding one in any area can be hard!

I love this IKEA. It is huge, and has a fantastic showroom. I find it easy to navigate, and I have rarely had an issue with items being out of stock. The prices are fair and the staff is friendly and helpful.
The cafeteria is a great spot to grab a bite. The food is okay — but it hits the spot.

Been to this location twice and was disappointed both times. Again, left with very little.
Wanted a basket to organize/​conceal mail piles, but the Made in Vietnam woven ones were rotten-​quality rattan that smelled gross (not nice ‘n grassy), and the appearance was mottled and brittle. Also, there is far too much plastic that isn’t worth the price, or is weirdly designed. I want to HIDE sh*t in it, so why is it semi-​transparent, or would it have a bunch of holes placed on it (so insects and dust might have easy access, or so a cat looks über-​cute inside of it)?
They had this really cheap-​looking small bathroom organizer with wood and white painted metal sheeting and it was $ 89. Whaaaa ?
All of the bathroom sinks and cabinets are on stilts. Who are all these people in a flood zone they’re designing for? Are they the same ones that go to IKEA to buy bulk flip-​flops?
Don’t forget they have no bags anymore, unless you want to pay for a musty-​smelling IKEA blue poly tarp bag.
Oh, and they have something like 20 checkout lanes, but only two are open. In the third one, a person is shouting, «I’m closed, I’m closed, I’m closed» at five second intervals.

I admit, 75% of the time that I go to Ikea is just to eat.
Much bigger, cleaner, and less crowded than the one in South Philly. PLUS… suburb tax is 6%, compared to the South Philly one with 8% tax.

Let me just start with, I joined my long lost family, IKEA! I have no idea why they didn’t find me in Alaska, where they would’ve profited greatly by our reunion,”. But that’s okay, we are here now. If you are remodeling, shopping for a college student, shopping for your first apartment, or just looking for an amazing day, START HERE! I made the mistake of going to three other stores first in the Philly area.
I found myself wishing I was Corduroy (the children’s book character — a bear) so that I could move in. The prices were reasonable, the products and food right up to date and yummy, and the selection like a kid being in the most giant candy store! I especially want to write that I spent less than $ 10 on a huge and delicious meal (see pics) and had a great time spending lots of money on super deals and FUN things that are environmentally friendly, reasonably priced and cool to give to my daughter starting school and wonderful gifts to bring home. What more can I say: lonely, girl’s day, date? It all works! Go to Ikea and definitely join the fam. I saved more then $ 20, I won’t tell you what I spent!

Where are the EV Car Chargers?!?
I recently moved and needed new some furnishings. Decided we would try IKEA. Did a quick google search and opted for the Conshohocken store given that it is next door to Corporate HQ which might add a little pressure to be top notch. Also chose this store over other area stores because I believed it had EV car charging stations as announced in their press release from 2003. This was widely spread across the internet to help add to their green/​sustainable mystique.

No such luck as we drove around the lot and garage, No EV charging anywhere except the publicity hype. But what I did find was 110v outlets all over the garage. I plugged in and went shopping. While I lost in the center of the maze inside I overheard a page listing my car. I immediate dialed customer care as directed and received a rude message that I needed to unplug immediately. I agreed and explained to the «facilities rep» that we came here under the impression they had chargers. He stated he’s never heard of it at any Ikea store (with attitude) and those outlets weren’t set up for car charging just cell phones. We then proceeded to negotiate our way out of what felt like the center of the store, took a longtime. During this time we heard 4 more pages from the same guy even though we told him were on our way. On approach to the car we noticed 2 uniformed managerial employees and one jacketed bystander next to my car. The NON uniformed guy immediately began telling me to unplug while I was already on my way to do so. One of them stated their reason was a fire hazard, another stated grid surge might damage my car, and the third the power the car’s pulling is too much for the grid. As I complied and unplugged, I explained that the charging system was designed for these concerns and that the New Green Ikea had a press release from 2013 that they were installing at this location. The three stated they never heard of such a thing and they also new of no Ikea’s with EV charging. At the end of the exchange the non uniformed guy sarcastically said «We thank you for going green». I was annoyed to say the least.
Why was I confronted by three people at my car after agreeing to unplug with facilities rep via phone? Why were these three digging for argument/​justification points after I agreed to unplug? I guess at the public marketing level Ikea is solar/​sustainable forest/​ev charging supporting but at the «real» grass roots level their local employees are unaware and obstructive. Do better guys.
BTW, The furniture is great, sales reps helpful, and it’s packed with great deals.

It’s an Ikea. It’s always packed, you can count on seeing at least one toddler on a leash (!), and once you find what you want you walk and walk through the whole store (I guess it’s to try and make you want to buy more, but for me, it’s mostly just slogging around people) to get to the pickup area. Then you load up your pallets and check out.
This store had utterly uninterested sales staff, but the cashiers were awesome. The home delivery people were nice and the delivery fee is only $ 59! I saw people trying to shove pieces that clearly didn’t fit into their cars. To each their own…

I went here to purchase a closet system for my house, and my experience became a bad one ever since I walked though the door. The employees here are not helpful at all, and nobody knows what they’re talking about. The lady inside the door made us walk though the entire showroom, even though we already knew exactly what we needed to purchase from the self serve area.
Once getting to the self serve area with our list, we went through, grabbed the boxes we needed that were on the designated shelf, and proceeded to checkout. The cashier didn’t scan each box, which caused a difference in price. After we got home, we realized the boxes we bought weren’t even the right ones! The stock employees didn’t put the right boxes in the designated place, so we had to drive an hour back to exchange.
We waited an hour and 15 minutes just to return the 3 boxes that were initially incorrect. Since the cashier didn’t scan the right boxes, it was hard to even return it because they weren’t correctly on the receipt as they should have been. Then we had to wait in the checkout line for another hour just to purchase the correct items.
Needless to say, I will never go back to this store again, and don’t recommend this location at all!

Ikea and I have a very dysfunctional love\hate relationship. I love their prices and a lot of their options, but I don’t necessarily love the quality, and I absolutely hate how much I spend when I go there. Oh, bring your walking shoes because if you follow their suggested path, you’ll be doing a heck of a lot of walking. Last time I was there I bought a 4 cubby\cabinet type thing to hang on the wall above my desk. It was fairly easy to assemble, but a little tricky to hang overall I was pretty pleased. I tried the food here once, I was not really a fan. They definitely have some unique items and at their low prices they’re worth a look unless you are a super stickler on quality.

As a graduate student, IKEA is roughly synonymous with my idea of heaven. I’m pretty sure around 90% of the things in my apartment are from this particular store.
If you’ve never been, prepare for the experience of a lifetime. You will find yourself daydreaming about the store long after you’ve left.
This location might be the mother of all IKEA stores – it is ridiculously huge. You are sort of forced to wind through the entire store, like a hamster, by virtue of the layout. This can be very annoying if you come for a specific item, but it’s fun to browse otherwise.
I love the housewares floor! Whenever friends or guests compliment the cute things in my kitchen it is a pretty solid guarantee that whatever they picked up is an IKEA item. The prices are always amazing too.
Since IKEA has figured out that you will spend roughly 20 hours here each time you come, there is a cafeteria upstairs. It’s pretty outstanding for a furniture store, I must say. Plus, your meal is free if you spend over $ 100 at check-​out.
I am so happily addicted. Send more money to my IKEA fund, please.

Easy signage from Ridge Pike. Spacious, clean, most all of the staff were helpful, friendly, and welcoming [read: not the checkout individual], huge parking lot, easy pull up and load, easy to find the items, easy to shop. Individual snack and meal cafes.
A bit confusing to maneuver around. But a quality IKEA, as they go.

IKEA. If you’ve never been, you sure won’t understand what all the hype is about. Once you go, you’ll always want to go back!
My first trip to IKEA was when I was in the 9^th grade, many years ago. I begged my mom to buy my a comforter cover and it was the best thing I ever did. 15 years later I still have that cover and I’m still in love with it! It’s basically like a sleeping bag for your comforter, who wouldn’t love that!
Let’s list the awesome things this place offers:
–Huge carts
–Under building parking (who likes to get wet when it rains, let alone have to pack up the car in it?!)
–It’s next to Cracker Barrel (if you’re into that kinda thing)
–They have a resturant inside. Up you read that right.
–They have a grocery store, which has the BEST swedish chocolate chip cookies
–They have set ups of all the rooms in a house you could ever think of!
–They have everything that you could ever use, need, want or think of and then some!
–Their stuff is dirt cheap. Like, I’m living paycheck to paycheck, but still leave here with a car filled with goodies
–They sell their gigantic reusable bags for cheap
–I LOVE their gigantic reusable bags that are cheap
–They offer a drop off for your kids so you can shop in peace
–They offer a drop off for your kids so I can shop in peace
Cons:
–The directions are pictures of weird naked men putting your product together.

I know this is probably obvious, but this Ikea is much better than the South Philly location. It’s cleaner, seems slightly bigger, and isn’t located in a crappy place.
Plus they have the standard mac and cheese and meatballs, so they’re A-​OK in my book!
Don’t forget your reusable bags…

I think its unfair to have to assign STARS to IKEA because the experience is never bad.
AND, the experience is never great.
The experience is just IKEA.
Sometimes the place can be overly annoying because of the «trapped rat» feeling of never being able to exit quickly.
Sometimes I know where something is and want to run in and grab it. I am like a trained soldier in that I can arrive at the spot I want to and I find a short way down to the checkout only to find I was wrong and I now have to do the entire exit circuit. LOL
Other times I exit quickly and the lines are enormously long and I have only one item. Why don’t they have express lines?
With that said… I have a 21 year old and there is no better place to purchase hip, inexpensive things for her shared apartment. I just paid .69 for coffee cups she loves. Also, cheap curtains.
I will say I prefer this location over the newer one in South Philly so yes I am a fan.

Honestly, I just really loved the smoked salmon that was $ 7.99 for 7 oz. I usually pay $ 6.99 for 4 oz.
I came here for plastic storage bins. They were $ 6.99 with the lid. Although I am unhappy with the fact that the lids do not click or lock, they will do. The only reason I bought them because I end up taping bins anyway.
I also bought my trusty Tupperware set for $ 3.99 for a bunch of pieces. I bought this set and swear by it because of the variety of sizes. I make sauces a lot so I like that fact that there are smaller containers. However MR IKEA, can you please start selling them in a color other than green?!

While it’s true that coming here on a Saturday borders on insanity, I live within twenty minutes, so I can visit this IKEA HQ whenever I want to! And I do return on many an occasion.
IKEA has been my happy place since I was a kid and my mom would drop me off to hang out in the kid’s area while she shopped. Now that I’m too tall to join the ballpit, I spend my time here perusing the feng shui rooms and checking out every new item in the warehouse. My first stop is always the As-​Is section, just in case that thing I came for has a floor-​model or gently-​used version for 50% off.
In 2008, we redid our entire kitchen with IKEA cabinets and it looks amazing. We ended up using the contractor the store recommended (Chuck), and he was incredibly helpful both for the beginning process of design through the finishing touches. To this day, everything is in beautiful shape. The drawers shut quietly and with the slightest touch. The pantry with mobile shelves is an engineering marvel.
I’m currently eyeing a beautiful couch but I have to sell my only slightly old Raymour & Flanigan model first. There are so many reasons to choose IKEA over R&F and other furniture stores, but the top reason is the freedom to shop without being swarmed by overeager salespeople. Additionally, I’ve noticed that the fabric on IKEA furniture is very natural feeling, it never has that chemical off-​gas feeling of upholstered furniture from other stores.
