I don’t like to bash other people and their reviews. However, if you’re complaining about bikers being at this place during bike week, or anytime during the summer, stay indoors until the winter. Seriously. We showed up, the bar area was packed and loud due to a great band(The Living Deads) playing everything from The Misfits to Johnny Cash. Heather was our waitress and considering how slammed they were, drinks never went empty and everything showed up in a timely manner, which is also a compliment to the kitchen. I mean there wasn’t an empty seat in the place and we didn’t even have to wait for new napkins. My wife enjoyed the clam chowder and I had a dozen oysters to start. Now as I’ll mention about lobsters and most local restaurants, oysters are typically ridiculously priced. I tend to a save my oyster ordering for when I’m in New Orleans and can get them for a buck a piece. Here, they were 19.99 for a dozen, which for this area, is a great price. We both had baked stuffed lobsters and considering how many places in New England gouge people for stuff we pull out of the ocean 15 miles away, their prices were very reasonable. The stuffing wasn’t all bread like a lot of places and the lobsters were cooked perfectly. Again, with as packed as the place was, we were very pleased. Beer prices were also good, staff was great, if we lived closer it would become our new weekly place. So we may have to settle for once a month. But it’s worth the trip.

This place is great in so many ways. First of all during the summer and a little into the fall, the bar and patio are the place to be at night. Great bands are always playing and there is great food and drink to accommodate you. The food is awesome, especially anything fried. If you’re really hungry then go for the the Yankee platter. Other great dishes include the baked scallops with newburg sauce, lobster flatbread, the pepper cheese burger and the stuffed lobster. There really isn’t anything on the menu I don’t enjoy. This place can get packed though, especially with large parties so sometimes service can be slow but that’s really out of the servers’ control.

This place is not that great. The deck seating isn’t open til May. In NH we see nice weather way before May. I’m a vodka drinker so when I go to a bar I expect to have Titos or Kettle one on the rocks. They had neither. I ordered chicken tenders thinking how can you mess that up… they were super bland. After seeing so many people give this place 5 stars I’m really confused and expected a lot more.

This restaurant has been here forever! After a couple of appointments and a little shopping, it was time for lunch before heading home. We hadn’t been here for a few years and it was right on our way, so why not?!? We were seated right upon entering and given menus — regular menu and special St Patrick’s Day menu. Our server came right over to take beverage order and answer any questions. When she returned I did have a question. She admitted she didn’t know the answer, had only been working there a couple of weeks and would go find out rather than guessing. I liked that honesty — much better than fudging her way thru it. She was right back with the info I needed. The menu is extensive with the emphasis on seafood. There were so many yummy sounding choices, it was difficult to decide. One thing they offer is fried oysters as a side. Terrific!!! Love those! We both ordered the same thing — blackened pan seared swordfish in the smaller size — another nice option, some of the meals are offered in 2 sizes. Two sides accompany the meals and there were several typical choices. Along with the swordfish, we ordered the side of fried oysters. The swordfish and sides were very good, but the oysters were to die for! Sweet and fried with a very light batter. Oh so good! Our server was attentive, food was very good and we enjoyed our lunch. Can’t wait to go back for some more oysters!

this is a true go to spot for great food. weather in the mood for seafood(oysters on the half or fried are great) or an awesome burger this place doesn’t disappoint. It is like a Jekyll and hide type place. Taken mom out for mothers day enter through the main entrance and be seated in a very clean nice family style restaurant. Popping in for some good food and a beer and friends enter through the side door and it’s an awesome casual restaurant bar with tv’s in view of every seat. I say give this place a try if you haven’t been there yet.

Solid food decent prices Pros: Great portions, cooked wonderfully truly one of the best cooked steaks I have ever had, the prices were good. Really great tasting food. Cons: have a smoking section outside in the deck which has made its ways somewhat indoors. Friday and Saturday evenings could be a bit of a wait. The tar tar sauce has no taste and did not adhere to the food well. Difficult tar tar sauce? Could be. Note: folks rip out your deck and rebuild it. Its an accident waiting to happen Overall: most certainly going back. Really great service, great food at a really decent price.

We were here race weekend and pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately. Our server was very nice but a little limited on his understanding of what was on the the menu. He may have been new because my husband asked him a couple questions about the preparation of certain items and he really couldn’t answer. I ordered the clam chowder which was excellent. The lobster and green salad was good but was lobster on a green salad. No dressing of any type was offered. My husband had prime rib and a whole lobster with steamers as an appetizer. Steamers were TERRIBLE. Not cleaned very well and still had the«foot» which made them slimey. His prime rib was tasty but the lobster badly overcooked and rubbery. All the dishes could have benefited from a bit more salt and pepper. Finished with key lime pie which was delicious.

We were in NH for two weeks, we went our first night here and it was good. We went another night and it was outstanding. The beef tips and grilled salmon are fabulous!

We use to make a habit of it stopping in to Makris’s for seafood during race weekends. Now, we watch most NHMS races from home. So, when in the area we try to stop in. Seafood chowder is still as awesome as it has ever been. We both had the ½ & ½ platters. One with fantail shrimp and sea scallops the other with fried clams and sea scallops. You get your money’s worth. Beer is always cold and the wait staff are very friendly. Learned something new today: serve melted butter with fried shrimp. If not, there’s alway cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. When in NH do as the NH ites do.

When I’m in New Hampshire, I like to eat at Makris. Never have had a bad meal here. Today, I took three people to lunch at Makris, Service was great. The food was, as usual, good. However, they’ve instituted a new policy of charging for every serving of soft drinks. It used to be that a diner would pay for the first iced tea/soda and the subsequent refills would be on the house; especially since I was picking up the tab for three other people who were drinking alcohol. Remember, the most expensive part of a large soda is the paper cup it comes in. I learned that from my uncle’s restaurants many years ago. I’m pretty sure that costs in New Hampshire have not become THAT exorbitant. I didn’t bitch, piss, moan, gripe or whine. In the future, I’ll just be taking my business to Newick’s — until they pull the same stunt…

There is NO way this is a 4 star restaurant. NH does not have very nice patio weather often and when you get that first weekend in May where its 75 and sunny the entire time, you want to enjoy it on a patio, well we had that weekend this past weekend and guess what, the patio was NOT open??? I should have known better because the same exact thing happened last year when a bunch of us tried to get a lunch there on a 75 degree and sunny day. Why have an amazing patio if your not going to open it during nice weather? The food was just EH. definitely not 4 stars. The bread tasted like it was a week old and someone nuked it to make it soft again, even butter could not help. The fried clams/scallops were just OK, pretty bland and needed a lot of tarter sauce. fresh lemon would have helped. The fries were good. The beers were good and cheap. The service was average. This place(the bar in particular) may be the go-to place for bikers. But their«loud pipes save lives» are nothing but a non-stop annoyance for everyone else. The décor could also benefit from a facelift.

Went there last week with a coworker and split a twin 1lb lobster dinner and a twin lobster roll dinner. Both were really good, but I liked the plain old lobster the best(only because I’m a bit of a purist with regard to seafood). With that said, the lobster rolls weren’t loaded with mayonnaise and delivered more lobster than I expected, which was also a very nice surprise. The chowder was also amazing! The waitress was super accommodating and personable. It was refreshing to have a waitress that actually seemed like a real person with personality who was interested in making our experience enjoyable. I wish I had gotten her name because I would highly recommend her to anyone. In fact, the restaurant moved from a steady 4.5 stars, to a definite 5 star rating because of her excellent service!

A great place to stop and grab a drink and great food after a ride up north. Always get some oysters when we stop in and they were again great and cheap. Two dozen oysters for under $ 40 can’t be beat. Had the Virginia and Bluepoints. Friends rave about the lobster rolls.

Always enjoy dinner here. Fresh fish at decent prices. The wait staff is attentive without being overbearing. If you are looking for good food, a totally relaxed atmosphere at reasonable prices this is the place to come. This is one of the few places that appeals to the entire family — nice to not have that argument when wanting to go out.
