Mover’s Choice Moving & Storage

Mover’s Choice did a terrible job because of their lack of communication. The people who packed the truck and the people who delivered did a good job. All could have gone smoothly if we could have had the Mover’s Choice office answer emails or phone messages. No one answers the phone and no one returns phone calls. Many emails were sent which were ignored. Our delivery was delayed for weeks because of the poor communication.

Worst moving service ever. She was over an hour and a half late and was rude about it. She had excuse after excuse about why they kept having to bump it back. They were very nice at first but once we scheduled it and were we’re depending on them, they became very rude. Avoid at all costs! They will just waste your time and effort!!!

Mover was over an hour late without any call to let us know. When we called to find out what the issue is the lady mover started yelling over me about how she hadn’t eaten and had to stop to get food, and was up late the night before as if any of that is my problem. She then stated she didn’t need the business, after we had been sitting waiting for over an hour. Definitely would not recommend this company.

Told me one price then doubled it after loading my things. I would recommend to go with another company.

As they say, usually you only see reviews if someone has a really good or really bad experience. This is absolutely the latter and I write it so that no one experiences what we did or uses this company. DO NOT USE MOVER’S CHOICE! This review also includes UNITED MOVING SERVICES, INC. who did not disclose they were brokers who then hired Mover’s Choice to move us.
If they had a lower rating I would pick it. My wife (who is disabled) and I recently moved across country from Denver, CO to San Jose, CA. Below is a summary (which had to be shortened down for the sake of brevity) of how bad this company is:
1. The salesperson/“broker” was professional and courteous but after that it all went downhill. I was told I had to reserve my move for $ 1K at that time or the price would change. When I asked if I could cancel I was told numerous times that yes I was still in the 14day window. I called back THAT NIGHT (two hours later) and no one answered. First issue they only keep East Coast hours when they service people all over the US… second was, when we did reach them the next day they refused to let us cancel so we were handcuffed to this company… which then led us to our horrible experience with Simon and Mover’s Choice.
2. Inventory confusion/​misdirection: I was told numerous times «a box is a box» and we average it out so just tell me how many medium boxes you have. WE called back three times to update our inventory to ensure it was accurate for the movers. When the movers got there they told us they wouldn’t take our non-​medium boxes. Phones calls and emails later no resolution so we had to pay since our stuff was already loaded on the truck (add $ 800 extra dollars). You will be «nickled and dimed» for everything such as your vacuum cleaner and a light weight fan. We were very organized and had everything that could be boxed, boxed…
3. Move date lies: My wife refused to initial the clause giving them a 21 day arrival window and Simon insisted it was «just paperwork, just paperwork, see you have the date right here» as he pointed to ⁴⁄₃₀. She verbally confirmed, with our son as a witness, «our furniture will be there on the 30^th, definitely»? Simon was insistent and this set of paperwork was done after all of our furniture was already loaded, he waived away her concern and she initialed the clause since he was very convincing and came off as confident and helpful. I called the morning of the 30^th and guess what? My furniture had not even LEFT the warehouse in Colorado. Simon became evasive and we felt brushed off. After having to pay additional funds for hotel, meals, etc. and losing days off at work they did nothing and a week later our stuff finally arrived. Only one guy showed up to unload so I had to help the movers I HIRED to move me… and I had to put together my beds.
4. Customer Service. I reached out many times and every time I called I was redirected to someone else. No one has offered to reimburse us for anything and has not even said I’m sorry.
These two companies don’t care about you as a person or how they can help make your move less stressful, they lack ethics, communication skills, broker/​mover coordination and then charge you more and more money (our final bill including hotels due to the missed delivery date was $ 1500 more than our original quote).
In summary: worst move I have ever done, worst moving company I have ever worked with. You can clearly tell as brokers they only want your money and once they have it you are on your own. The movers seem to resent the brokers and we got caught in the middle!!!

In the last three years I’ve had the misfortune of needing to relocate three times due to work. The first two moves were absolute nightmares. The first, I was new to having a moving company relocate me, so I made the mistake of thinking the best deal was the lowest price I found. I could not of been more wrong. Second time I moved with a professional service, my company picked the best of three bids they had received, the move ended up being 2,000 $ more but thankfully I was not responsible to pay for the overages. Come the third move, I thankfully learned exactly what not to do when selecting a mover, took my time, did my homework, and went with Movers Choice. Since I had to pay for this out of pocket, a guaranteed rate was the most important factor in deciding a moving company. No moving company will call you and tell you they are bad movers. With that being said, I took to the internet to hear what people had to say about the three I was considering. Movers Choice wasnt the cheapest of the three, but they had by far the best reviews and most consistent pricing based on my size move and the references they gave me that I spoke to. Very pleased boys, if I ever have to move again, I know who to call!

Took care of all moving needs at the drop of a hat! I needed reliable moving services in a short amount of time. I was able to talk to a representative immediately and get my move booked. Payment was easy and reasonable. I would recommend these guys!

moved from colorado to houston… not the first time i have moved states but the first time i used this service. pretty solid company and did not have any problems with pick up or delivery.

This just proves how unprofessional your company is. If you really wanted to resolve the issue with my experience you would have contacted me directly, instead of trying to do it through Unilocal.You have my contact information. Your company delivered my belongings to Los Angeles, instead of San Diego and charged me a $ 700 re-​delivery fee for your mistake. The 3 zip code on file excuse is ridiculous. I only gave you one address, one zip code, one time. I never gave a LA zip code or even mentioned Los Angeles. This was clearly an error by your company. And instead of apologizing, you are still clinging to this lie. I paid it because you had all my belongings, but it was a horrible and frustrating experience.

I can not leave any stars for this company they are so despicable. However, Unilocal wants stars. I was moving a few things for Denver to Chicago. I listed the items to be moved and cushioned it with extra boxes so I could get a fair price. Anthony suggested I had 375 cubic feet to move. It was Nov 14 and I wanted the items in Chicago by Nov 30. He thought Movers Choice could get it there by then. Because they use their own employees I went with them. There is nothing on the copy of the contract that you keep that says the deposit is non refundable. I spoke to Anthony later because I had to buy a plane ticket to Chicago and he assured me the goods would be delivered before ¹¹⁄₃₀. Curtis came on ¹¹⁄₁₈ and he thought I had 450 cubic feet of items and wanted to charge more. I asked him how that could be when I has less items than I gave to Anthony. Curtis just knew more than Anthony. He also wanted to charge extra for stairs and wrapping the glass items. Then he said the goods would get there in 21 days. I felt very uncomfortable putting my items on the truck because Curtis employed many bait and switch deals and he couldn’t help assure me that the goods would arrive in time. Reviews for this company do say that for long distances the goods can get delayed. I tried to work out my uncomfortable feeling with Anthony but when Brianna from dispatch would not give a reasonable assurance that the goods would get to Chicago by 11/​30, I chose not to go forward with using Movers Choice. I drove a 10 foot Budget Truck that holds 380 cubic feet of goods. I filled it with every item I listed with Movers Choice and added items and still it was only ¾ full. Movers Choice pulls bait and switch tactics and would not return my deposit. I do no recommend them.
