Mathnasium of Commack is a Math Learning Center that provides individualized assistance for students in grade levels K-​12. We offer an initial check-​up to identify strengths and weaknesses. We then design a custom learning plan to address the needs of the student. It is our belief that students do not hate math, they hate being confused by math. We strive to make math make sense for kids.

History

Established in 2007.

Since 2007, Mathnasium of Lake Grove has had great success in helping to make mathematics more understandable and enjoyable for students. In addition to the Lake Grove location, owner Ken T. opened the Mathnasium of Commack center in May 2013. While providing specialized attention, students gain confidence in approaching new mathematical concepts. Important critical thinking and problem solving skills are emphasized during each visit to the center.

Ken taught middle and high school physics for 9 years and ran a successful competitive robotics team. In 2007 he was named the Suffolk County Science Teacher of the year. Ken believes that a strong background in math is essential to be competitive in the global marketplace. If the US is to keep its competitive edge as a world innovator it must commit to improving math and science literacy among its population. Math is a challenging subject to teach to large groups of students since people think and work at different paces. Mathnasium allows students to work at their own pace in a low pressure environment with individualized help.
