Would give zero stars if I could. Gave this place a second chance after a bad first experience only because we received a $ 20 credit but completely regret doing so. The first visit, my daughter had a keratin treatment which in all fairness was fine. However, the stylist asked if she wanted the ends trimmed after the treatment and we agreed. An end trim is usually included in the price of a keratin treatment but even if it wasn’t, I assumed the price would be nominal for a service that literally took less than a minute. After the treatment, the stylist simply cut a tiny fraction off the bottom, straight across, as my daughter did not want any length removed. The stylist was merely evening out the bottom Bc the ends become much more apparent after keratin. Imagine my shock when they added 60 dollars!!! For the trim to the bill on top of the already expensive keratin treatment. I reiterate, we have never even encountered a charge for the end trim after keratin. After complaining to the manager, who insisted that was the stylist rate, she agreed to credit us back only 20 dollars. Why should we have been charged the full amount this stylist charges for a cut and blowout when the blowout was already billed within the keratin treatment? In essence, we were wrongfully double billed as we already paid for the blow out and style when we paid for the keratin. We left very dissatisfied as even the discounted 40 was exorbitant for a slight trim of the bottom of her hair. I’m still mad we gave it another shot but since my daughter had a party to go to today, I thought we might as well use the credit towards a blow out and style. She wanted her hair blown out with loose curls at the bottom. For this, the agreed to apply our credit to the 75 dollars they usually charge!!! To think they charge 75 for the service she received is outrageous as even the 55 we paid was not worth it. My daughter did not get any curls. Instead, she had a sub par blowout where the stylist Carla started with rollers under a hair dryer. The«curls» did not even last until we got home. She only curled the hair as she blew it out and left the top very puffy and wide. It was nothing like my daughter had requested in detail. The stylist Carla seemed to be bothered that the front desk agreed to fit my daughter in. She threw my daughter under the hair dryer and said she was hungry and went to eat her lunch. Then after complaining about my daughters hair, she did a quick rushed blow dry with a round brush. She was rude and disinterested as well as incompetent. The blow out was terrible and no style whatsoever was done other than using the dryer. BThat’s a 75 dollar(55 w our credit) service??? Come on. I have no problem paying for good service but this was the worst blowout she has ever had and we paid the additional amount to actually have it styled! Not even a haircut! This is the last time we will be at this price gouging, poor service salon.

I purchased an Amazon Local deal for a deep conditioning and blow out for a great price. I figured I’d try out this Cactus after just moving from Plainview and having a poor experience over there. The deep conditioning was great as my hair needed it. Now comes the blowout… Pretty simple, right? Nope. The stylist was friendly although distracted throughout the process while speaking to other stylists but that’s not a big deal since I figured I was getting a pretty standard blow out. She was having a hard time blowing out the right side of my hair and had no problem telling me that it was MY thick hair that was being difficult & giving her problems. She said it 4 times! As a result & after the longest blowout of my life(1 hour, 15 minutes) my hair came out pin straight on one side and full of body on the other. I’d like to think this is an isolated incident and that maybe I just got the wrong stylist but my previous experiences w other Cactus salons is telling me otherwise. Perhaps this is why these salons are closing all over Long Island at the rate they are. Amazon Local deal or not, not worth my money again.

love love love this place. I bought a massage on groupon and this was the only location of cactus salons available(on short notice) thank heaven. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a package that was offered to me that day(discounted) for two massages and a blow out for $ 75.(it was a better deal than my groupon) Happy to say Im definitely going back…

Had a groupon for a massage and facial. It was the best facial I ever had. Patricia was amazing! They were so nice there and very welcoming. Definitely recommended!

Kinda pissed about my experience at this salon for one reason that unfortunately has nothing to do with how my hair came out… I have short hair like a boy so when the girl was using a buzzer on the back of my hair she accidentally buzzed the necklace I was wearing in half… Broken. She pretended like nothing happened and kept going with the cut… Didn’t apologize or anything. Lucky for her the necklace was not very expensive but what if it had been? My stylist was Kate/Kaitlyn. She did a pretty good job with my haircut overall and the style was great but wtf… Now I have to spend money to get my necklace fixed… An apology would have been appreciated. Idk if I will go back here because of this mishap. She could’ve asked me to take my necklace off or simply pushed it aside while she buzzed the back. Not happy.

Beth. Just go to Beth. By far the best hairdresser and worth WAY more than she charges. Unfortunately, she does cut a tad short…’cause she LOVES to cut, and is really conscientious about making sure everything is even(or whatever) and perfect. Love her! My whole family goes here!

i travel all the way here from queens just to get my hair done by Angela! She is really such a great stylist, she can do it all! My hair is naturally very curly with frizzy tendencies and so i’m always nervous about who cuts my hair– but Angela makes it an art form! I swear, I told her i wanted layers and she suggested that I just let her«do her thing»… i took a leap of faith and she was right! The layers were done so perfectly, not«choppy» looking at all like some other cuts that i’ve had! She’s also great for color too! You won’t regret it.

I have had a ton of massages and been to lots of spas. And this by far was the worst place and worst massage ever. There was no mood lighting, no music, no blankets on the massage table — nothing. It was just like you said a dirty tile floor and like a clinic with a old bed sheet as the cover. I went there because I got a groupon coupon. And I had two for a massage and booked one for my friend too. Thank goodness my appointment was first because I rushed out of the room after the ordeal was over and saved from friend from the trauma! I was later told(by the manager) that the therapist was blind. I have NOTHING against him being blind or any disability. Actually, a friend of mind had a massage once by someone who was legally blind and it was one of the best massages she ever had. But this guy sucked. All he did was push down on the skin and it was very uncomfortable just to lie in a clinic like room and only be covered by a bed sheet. He also went way up my leg and to my rear. It was just a really unpleasant experience. While I was saving my friend the manager came over and asked what was wrong and I told her. She was understanding but said that he has regular clients and that she had got a massage from him and it was good. Obviously these people need to get massages at other places! Anyways, she kindly gave my groupon coupons back. And just this weekend my friend and I booked with the Cactus salon in Smithtown — which was EXCELLENT. Go there! There was a girl called Natasha who was very good. They are professional and very classy with the spa feel. Check cityseach — it has a review from someone else(and me) about this place!

I am a regular at my local Cactus Salon. I love the trendy vibe and the sweet staff. I am always offered some beverage with a smile. My current stylist is young and willing to experiment with different shades. I recently went from over processed blonde highlights to red with soft red highlights. I received a ton of compliments the first moment I walked out of the salon. Here’s a trip for you first timers, has a 25% OFF coupon for all Cactus Salons. Here’s the link:
