Great souvlaki, Greek chicken salad and dressings(which I buy all the time by the bottle). Everything else is ok. The fried calamari is not too great and grilled octopus is not that great– was disappointed as this is my favorite and it was quite expensive. Would come back all the time if just for the chicken souvlaki, greek chicken salad and the awesome dressings and tzatziki. And the service is always very gracious.

One of my favorite places to eat in the area. The food is always on point and the owner John is a great guy. I’ve been coming here for years and will continue for years to come.

Best Greek restaurant in Commack. The free orzo appetizer is delicious as well as the free pita and tzatziki. Salads are a little pricey, but deliciously worth it.

Had lunch here with the wife, the food was pretty decent. Beer was cheap and they give you some free pita. No the greatest ambiance but in line with the price, I think I can recommend as a lunch spot if you’re feeling like some Greek!

Good food and awesome service. The yogurt sauce is on point. Checked in on Unilocal and got the free glass of wine too.

I can obviously only speak to the two dishes I had but they were both phenomenal. I ordered a small Greek Salad with Falafel and an appetizer of Yia Yia’s Eggplant for takeout. Both are A+‘s in my book. I do not think it possible to like eggplant and not like it. The salad was definitely one of the best salad’s I’ve ever had. The falafel was top-notch. If you’re in the area don’t miss out on this place.

One of the better Greek options in the area. Their Greek salad dressing will give you a new appreciation for a bowl of lettuce. The roast pork and roast lamb will change your impression of authentic Greek cooking. The lemon potatoes are also a must try, especially if you’re lucky enough to get the small, browned bits.

If I could give this place a ½ star I would! Me and a friend went here. They brought pita/tzatziki & orzo w/some red sauce which I didn’t eat but my fiend said it was gross! But it looked gross. The tzatziki was the only good thing abt this place. We both ordered chicken souvlaki and we didn’t like that either. The chicken was so dry and wasn’t your typical grilled chicken that you would usually get. Idk what they do or how they cook it but it even looks gross. Stay away! If u want some good tzatziki then go get some of that. Otherwise they can’t offer anything else. I’ve been here before and was giving it a second chance(it’s been abt 3yrs) and it was so greasy and bad the last time I was there and I ordered a fish dish. I will def not be back ever again.

Great place for take out. Large portions, fresh ingredients and reasonable price. The hummus is tasty and the Greek dressings are always reliable. Pita bread is excellent too!

Major disappointment. Took my Greek parents there for their wedding anniversary. The food was nothing to write home about, the décor was ugly, and the owner was very rude to my mother. I tried to make the best of it, but she was pretty disturbed and did not deserve to be spoken to like that. We will not be going back.

Great chicken gyro and tzatziki sauce. Can’t go wrong with Greek food. Ordered take out. Avgolemono was amazing.

When I want quality greek food I usually have to drive into Astoria-Queens Lucky for me I found this tasty joint(I’m not from the area) The portions are HUGE WELLPRICED!!! Fresh Fresh Fresh… did I mention how fresh the food was? All the greek staples and if you like Seafood, they got some of that too… and it’s amazing… Oh, and if you have room for dessert… Delicious… And the Wine… I could go on… Just Go…

I’m honestly extremely surprised at the number of poor ratings this place has. Maybe the service or ownership has changed recently but I’ve been there twice and both times the food was amazing and I didn’t have any problems with service. The owner greeted every person who walked through the door and people getting take out seemed very happy so I don’t know what was going on here other days. My bf and I love how they feed you right away when you come in with amazing cucumber dip and a little orzo salad. I’ve been to a lot of Greek places and I think this one has excellent food(much better than the one across Jericho on the other side). I could eat the lemon chicken soup every day and not get tired of it. The wine isn’t great but the waitress subbed the one that came with the groupon for a soda. The babaganoush was probably my least favorite thing there but the Kota al a Mykonos and the Chicken Athenian were great. I always leave here full and happy. It is a small place though so I imagine if you go on a weekend it would be a bit of a wait.

I love the food here. Gyro, roasted lemon potatoes, orzo, specials, tzaziki. Everything is great. The restaurant is a little small and maybe not the best décor, but who cares. I go to eat food. The restaurant is clean and the service is friendly. What else can you really ask for?

Hands down the best Greek food in the area. I will drive by other places just to get here. Owners are friendly and staff is very on top of their job and roles. Only thing I wish is that they start serving Gluten Free Pita

RUDERUDERUDE! Came here three times before and decided to walk in on a Sunday to place an order while at the bowling alley next door. A man with a mustache(who I assume was an owner) was so disgustingly rude to my fiancé and I– I could not believe he would talk to a customer in that way. The waitresses were also in a foul mood & very unfriendly and made us stand near the bathroom to place an order. We immediately just walked out and we were shocked by the treatment we just received. I don’t see how you can afford to act this way while running a restaurant, and this place will no longer be receiving business from my whole family/extended family(who frequently come) and I. But for anything, the man with the glasses who I also assume is an owner is always friendly… but if you see the man with the mustache– RUN!

We discovered Athenian through a Groupon. What a wonderful experience. We were well taken care of by our waitress Carolann. Her service was outstanding and she have us such wonderful recommendations. We had the Greek meatball appetizer which was delicious. I had the mt. Olympus which is a selection of lamb beef and pork! Plenty of food. My wife had the chicken with spinach and feta! Everything was perfect and the restaurant had a very cozy feel. Thank you Alex who is the owner. Your table visit was very much appreciated!

We ate here using a Groupon. We got the calamari appetizer which was just ok. It was an average portion. Not too big, but enough for two to share. We also got the lamb kabobs. Something about them was a little off. You’d expect kabobs to be cooked on some sort of charcoal grill but these seemed like they were cooked on the griddle. There was just no flavor to them other than the slight gaminess of the lamb. It was a bit chewy/tough too. Honestly, we’ve had much better kabobs off a Greek food truck. In contrast, their Tzatziki sauce was REALLY good and we enjoyed dipping our pita bread into it. The place is small and quaint with an authentic atmosphere. Overall everything seemed clean. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive. We may go back and try something different on the menu.

Stay away. Owner is rude and nasty. And heaven forbid you question him when he accuses you, the customer. Rather than admit that the waitress forgot to put in the order which we learned from another staff member, we are told it is our fault for a complicated order. Since the order was very straight forward when asked what was the part it was best not to answer and proceed to present a bill for food that just was not good that night. I have pictures of the fried zucchini and what they claim was not burnt and told me it was my perception at fault and would still charge me. Unless you want everything to be your fault — stay away. Oh yeah — I used to be a regular patron of the establishment — love the yogurt sauce though. It is some of the best around. But not enough to make me go back.

Love the food, reasonable prices, wines, desserts and more. When it’s good you don’t have to say much. Just come down and try it. You will be back.
