I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Bill and his son. When I was in the market for an engagement ring a few years ago, I had no idea what to expect, or really what I was doing.
This was the first place I visited, based primarily on location and a few mentions online. I was blow away both by the quality of the jewelry and the gregariousness of Bill and his son Andy. This is a family run business that truly reflects their joy in craftsmanship.
I didn’t really know what I wanted, and they were great about talking me through different options and helping me come up with something that was uniquely suited for us. Among other things they helped come up with a design that would incorporate a family stone as well as some additional color.
One of the most meaningful things they did however was to encourage me to visit other stores before making a final decision. I did, and after having visited several other places, I was eager to return.
I really felt like Bill and Andy provided a level of individual attention and detail that was noticeably missing from other stores. With them I felt like I was buying a work of art, not a piece of commodity jewelry.
We went back to get our wedding bands from them as well, and every time I look at them or my wife’s engagement ring I am incredibly thankful that they were made with such care and attention!

I have worked with Bill and his son Andy over the past six months to create an engagement ring for my fiancé and our wedding bands. Their customer service has been excellent, only being outclassed by the quality of their work. They strive to only create the best jewelry, and that includes the selection of the stones. I did my research before working with them, and the prices they quoted me for the diamonds was competitive to, if not slightly less than, the costs that I found online. However, unlike a large online diamond wholesaler, they have hand selected and bought (not leased) all of the diamonds in their store, choosing only the best of each grade and those with excellent cuts.
When I went to their store, Bill and Andy both spent much time explaining their creative process, accurately describing the optical physics of diamonds, and helping me view each stone individually under the scope. They worked with my budget to select the perfect diamond for my fiancé, understanding that as a graduate student my budget was limited. Both Bill and Andy are friendly, easy to talk to, and never pressured me to make a purchase. They took incredible pride in their work, and even if I move from Columbus I will continue working with them.
Besides their quality of work and excellent service, the biggest draw for me was the unique shape of their ring bands. Instead of a circular shape, the band is trapezoidal to prevent the ring from rotating and to create a comfortable fit that doesn’t pinch at any point. This is a difficult design to produce, so be prepared to pay for the hours that these artists put into hand crafting each ring. This is a cost well worth paying for a ring that will be worn for the rest of ones life.
TL:DR — Incredible, friendly, and honest business capable of creating beautiful designs. Highly recommended on a personal and professional level.

Absolutely fabulous service and craftmanship. I had them create a new ring from a diamond that was too beautiful to sit in a drawer any longer. Andy and Bill spent a lot of time consulting with me and making sure that the design was what I wanted. The ring is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend if you are looking for a creative, honest, service oriented jeweler.

My fiancé got my engagement ring made here and it is absolutely gorgeous. I love the comfortable and uniquely shaped band, and the diamond itself is stunning (They only sell the best!). I truly feel like my ring is set apart from the rest; I fall in love with it more and more every day!
We came back here a few weeks later to get our wedding bands made. The guys here are really nice and take their time with you. They make you feel valued and not like you’re just a customer giving them money. Never rushing you into a decision or purchase, they really want you to make as informed of a decision as possible. They take great pride in what they do, and they love sharing their knowledge so that you are truly educated on the quality of their work. I can’t wait to see how our wedding bands look once they’re done!
Update 8÷12÷15:
My fiancé and I just picked up our wedding bands a few moments ago. I couldn’t be more satisfied and amazed by the incredible rings! They hit the nail on the head with the style and designs that we had discussed. My fiancé’s textured (round planish) and collett edge band is truly distinct and unique. It looks so stylish and classy, yet also very timeless. My band is absolutely stunning. I can’t fathom how Bill hand-​set all the diamonds so perfectly! The design compliments my engagement ring and diamond very elegantly. And of course the unique shape of the bands make for a very comfortable fit. Bill was friendly, patient, and a little silly as always. :) I could not be happier with our choice to come back! Thank you Bill, Andy and staff for your skillful and hard work.

I walked into Bill’s store many years ago. Bill was working on something, so I prowled around, looking in the cases.
In the opal case, I came across something rare. I exclaimed, «That’s the prettiest precious Mexican fire opal I’ve seen for years!» (My father had bought a couple of them years ago in Mexico.)
Bill’s head came up. «You’re the first person who’s known what that stone is!» He was pleased; I was flattered. And Bill’s cases are filled with the most gorgeous custom pieces I’ve seen (and I love custom jewelry).
I took my husband-​to-​be in to look at Bill’s work. We wanted custom bands, and very special stones. We picked out the stones that day — a cobalt blue sapphire for me, a green sapphire for Julian. We didn’t see a setting that was quite what we wanted, so some time later, we brought in a sketch. Bill worked with us until both he and we approved of the sketch. The rings are on our fingers now, and they are everything we could have wanted.
A couple of years later, Julian surprised me with the opal ring I had seen on my first visit.
We visit Bill, his wife Annabelle, and their shop every time we’re in Columbus. If we were wealthy, we’d own dozens of his creations. We’re not wealthy, but Bill always makes time to chat with us, and show us anything new and different. He knows we’re fans of colored gemstones, and I’ve seen things at his shop that I’ve never seen anywhere else.
We’ve never seen anything in Bill’s shop that we wouldn’t be absolutely thrilled to own.

Simply put, Bill is phenomenal. I had already been turned away by two prominent jewelers in town when I went to him. I had a sterling silver ring, of much sentimental value to me, that was literally broken into two pieces. The other jewelers told me that the ring would melt as soon as they tried to repair it. Bill, on the other hand, has decades of experience working with different metals, and assured me that he could repair it. His kind spirit and knowledge of his craft put me at ease when I was wary to leave the ring with anyone. Though it isn’t worth anything, Bill recognized that the ring was important to me and agreed to take it on. In the end, he literally had to rebuild my ring, but still ended up charging me less than the top of my quoted price. I could not imagine a more ideal experience, and I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in need of custom jewelry design or repair.

My fiancé bought my engagement ring online from an antique dealer and it was about a size too big. I was driving by Weidinger’s and on a whim decided to stop in and ask how long it would take to size down (fearing that I’d have to give up my new ring for at least a few days). Bill (the owner) came out of the back room and offered to size it right then, and he walked me through exactly how it is done and the aspects of the ring (like the baguette side stones) that affected how the process would go. He then let me sit in the back shop with him and watch him do it, explaining all the while what everything was and just generally chatting. When he was finished (which he had me try it on and took it back three times to get it absolutely right) it looked flawless.
He then sat with me for a good fifteen minutes, showing me the ring under the microscope and showing me how one of the prongs had been shoddily repaired in the past (remember it’s an antique), and talking about our options if we wanted to repair it in the future. He then gave me the info for a ring appraiser so that we could get it added to our insurance. He also gave me advice about general upkeep and the best way to clean it.
While he was polishing the ring I had a chance to walk around his showroom. All of his pieces are incredibly beautiful and unique, and most of them seemed very based in nature (which is a style I love). I mentally picked out a necklace to ask for when the holidays come!
We will be shopping for wedding bands in the next few months, and I guarantee we’ll be back.

My wife and I came here in with high hopes but not certain what to expect. We walked in to the cozy store tucked away in the corner of a small strip mall and were warmly greeted by the owner, Bill, who was as enthusiastic to help as as he was welcoming. We told him we needed a ring to be resized; he instantly showered us with information and expertise drawn from years of experience. He got my wife’s finger sized and explained exactly how he would do it, all the while maintaining his undeniable amiability. He then sat us down to look for a defining characteristic in our diamond as a way to assure us it was ours when we came back to pick it up later that day.
Two short hours later, he calls me to let me know the ring is done. We get back to the store to Bill who is all smiles. He shows us the ring, flawlessly resized and cleaned. It fit my wife’s tiny size 4 finger and looked essentially unadulterated. Before we pay and leave, he takes us back to his work station and shows us around which was a real pleasure to see. Frankly, for the experience and workmanship, I would have paid double his very reasonable price.
In summary, a complete pleasure to have met and dealt with. I will be coming back, probably exclusively.

mr. weidinger was EXCEPTIONAL!!! He is not only an artist, he iseeducator. I nearly headed over a diamond and walked out. he was insistant that I was capable of properly identifying my diamond that he’s a trade me for 20 minutes under a microscope. it was not onlyndi impressive, it was extremely fascinating.

If you want to wow your sweetie with fine jewelry or buy her that diamond engagement ring, Weidinger’s is a great place for that. Each of the exquisite pieces that you see in the display case are handcrafted by Mr. Weidinger himself, with very few exceptions. It’s more like an art gallery than a jewelry store. The pieces that you see in the cases are unique, and can be individual. Postcards lying on top of the cases in the corners have testimonials of some work that Mr. Weidinger has created with and specifically for particular people.
A suggestion that I have for you is that you know ahead of time exactly what you are looking for or want created.
Like artwork sold at an art gallery, the pieces are not cheap price at all. The prices are not obvious as they are on tiny tags attached to the piece, so it is best to ask about the prices. One necklace could cost you thousands. However, if you want something that is distinctive and will last a long time, this is the place. It will be well worth it if you can manage, since what you are getting is something matchless and high quality.

I’ve had this ring in my mind for a long, long time: a trinity rolling ring with two platinum bands and one band of diamonds. I didn’t have it in mind for any reason. It’s just what I would want if I was getting a ring.
I was ecstatic when my boyfriend Greg surprised me by saying he wanted to get it for our anniversary/Valentine’s day.
We paid a visit to William A Weidinger, owner of Weidinger’s jewelry. William made Greg’s mother’s wedding band years ago, and at the time, Greg and his brothers were enlisting William to make their mom a special Mother’s Day heart pendant. I guess you could say William’s the family jeweler.
William was a bit suspicious of us until he recognized Greg, then he warmed right up. We told him what we wanted, and he listened closely. Then, with a frown, he told me my dream ring was impossible to make, not impossible, but I guess unwise. William said he could make the ring, but it would be cannibalistic. The diamond band would roll over and over the platinum bands, slowly scratching them and chipping them away. Bummer. At least the guy was honest and didn’t rip me off by making me a ring that would destroy itself in the end.
William told me to keep thinking then come back.
I went home and researched for a few more months; I’m very picky. I literally looked at thousands of rings online and in stores. By chance, I finally found a style that I liked, at Sears of all places. It was unique, but poorly made. I tried the ring on to make sure it looked right on my finger, then I snuck a few photos of it through the display case when the lady at the counter wasn’t looking.
I took the photo back to William who again declined my request. He said he couldn’t in good conscious make a ring similar to one that’s already out there. I was crushed.
William let us try on a few of the rings he had in the display. He makes the bands in a boxier finger shape instead of a round shape; they are super comfortable, but none of them were my style. He studied my photos again then came out with the mold of a ring he’d done twenty years ago. It was nice, not what I had in mind, but I was willing to give it a shot.
William ran the specs for Greg and I and estimated that the ring would cost a few thousand dollars — we hadn’t budgeted for jewels in the hundreds, not the thousands.
We thanked him and politely left.
William is a great jeweler. I respect that he’s independent, creative, and moralistic. His designs are a little crazy sometimes, but his real talent is in custom jewelry. If you have a good idea and enough bank, go see William. He’s guaranteed to make a special piece for a special occasion. He understands romance and sentiment. He’ll get it right.
