History

Established in 1979.

Mary Leavitt, The Flag Lady, started selling the American Flag out of the trunk of her car during the Iranian Crisis. Her son Andy Leavitt was in the Navy and she wanted to Fly her American Flag. She stopped into the local flag shop and they told her that they didn’t have any American Flags because, «It wasn’t Flag Season.»

The Flag Lady didn’t accept that answer. She went directly to the manufacturer of American Flags and asked if she could start selling the Flag out of the trunk of her car.

Mary’s love of country and Patriotism comes from a long family line of American Patriots who have served in the United States Army. At least on person has served in every single American War since the Revolutionary War.

A lot of people stepped up beside Mary to help her succeed in business and she will never forget those people. As a matter of fact, she has a list of their names sitting on her bulletin board right at her desk. God Bless You and God Bless America!

Neat store. I went there instead of buying on Amazon because I like to support local stores. They had a lot of stuff I would have liked to look through but unfortunately the woman working (owner?) saw my bumper sticker (dog rescue-​related) and felt the need to tell me every horrifically depressing story she had of her time working for a vet. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I’m sorry for the things she’s seen but perhaps an unsuspecting customer isn’t the right audience? I would have likely spent a lot more money had I been given the chance. Next time I’ll order from Amazon and save myself some depression. Yeesh.

True to their name but seriously over priced for Annin Flags! You can find the exact same product in any big box or online retailer for much less. Cons… parking just sucks. …Hate to say it but it’s true. The «Flag Lady» herself is a little odd. …made me feel uncomfortable. With so much competition and everyone selling Annin Flags now, don’t think I would ever shop there or recommend them again.

Flag Lady’s is true to their namesake. It’s a store of all things ‘flag’. So if you happen to need a ‘Welcome’ flag, a flag with flowers on it, a Bennington flag, or perhaps a flag of Uzbekistan… Then this might be your place. The place overall feels old and patriotic.
Unfortunately, the old and patriotic also means they can be old in their ways. I wouldn’t come in here expecting to purchase a gay pride flag, which is slightly unfortunate as Columbus has one of the nations largest gay communities. At least in the midwest. They’re missing out on money while catering to a dying generation’s wants. But it’s American ‘Patriotism’ at its finest.
I can’t bitch about the pride flags. The same as the dude before me shouldn’t be bitching about the lack of confederate flags… The flag lady is simply practicing her right and Freedom to be one capitalist mother effer.
And if you don’t like it… There’s always the Internet… And the next guy down the street looking to make a buck.

I bought my Gadsden flag here after hearing all the commercials on the local AM. I find it funny that this places claims to be so patriotic yet you can’t buy a Confederate flag it you want one. It is a historical flag no different than any other, yet like so many other companies they feel they need to cave to these ridiculous and uneducated people and their agenda.
I won’t be doing any more business with this place. Not because I want a Confederate flag but because I find it moronic that people in our society think they have a right to dictate what other people can/can’t purchase.
Flag Lady — Grow a spine. Do you really think your business would suffer simply by selling a particular flag? I would hope that you understand what the flag truly represents and would take the time to educate your customers if they raise a stink about you selling it. This is the sort of thing I would expect from some wifi/​liberal hotspot. Not the «Flag Lady».

Sells very high quality flags, but I was greatly surprised to see that they carry confederate flags for sale in a store that is supposedly proudly American. We were going to buy an Ohio flag and a US flag for display on our house, but our child asked if «that was the bad flag from the news.» Might be in their interest to update their standards with today’s culture.

It’s no secret that the flag lady is the flagship for flags in Columbus. Handling many types of banners, from the triangular state symbol to the historical Gladsden Flag, the Flag Lady does her craft in a charming little store on High Street just north of Henderson Road. There is no parking on the High but there is a gravel lot in back.
I came to spy the options they have for my parents who are hunting for a proper Buckeye banner to wave on their flagpole. (Although with Saturdays result and the number of spoiled, fair weather fans in this town it may be worth it to check the various dumpsters up High Street for a free one.) Boy does this place have options; they have many different designs and styles to chose from. You can also suggest your own designs, they have the proper licensing being the place Brutus gets his flag with which he leads the football squad into the stadium. Though some designs have to be ok by the school. (It can set the mind to wonder just what kind of ideas people come up with.)
They have a program were you can bring faded flags (American or Buckeye) and get 10-​percent off; they know all the proper procedures to dispose of Old Glory. They also have on-​line ordering.
The Buckeye flags are American made with American materials; and they try their best to purchase American made goods for the other kinds of flags. There is so many styles of flags here that you should find what you need. The staff is really knowledgeable, friendly, and will help you out.
The downside is price; where a box store would sell a prefab flag for 20– bucks, here a printed flag will run about $ 35, and a sewn flag around $ 45 for standard, and up to $ 45-​$ 110 for even higher quality or designs.
And it so goes the external battle of price versus quality. My advice is to find out which of those you favor beforehand.

When I lived in Clintonville, I always told myself I wanted to stop in here to see what was to offer as far as Ohio State Flags, but I never made! Two years later… I made it in this past weekend and very pleased with the experience!
My husband and I went it since it was game day and we decided we really needed to purchase that OSU flag we have been wanting and it needed to be nice. As we walked in we were immediately greeted.
We spoke with the woman (Her name escapes me) the entire time we were in the store, it was great! She shared that they make all the Flags for Ohio State, etc. She talked to us about the most commonly purchased OSU flags and provided us with a ton of useful information.
Also, when you purchase flags there, if they begin to tear, all you need to do is bring it back and they will fix it right up for you for free!
It’s a great place! We will be purchasing another OSU Flag in the future which means we will definitely be going to The Flag Lady! :)

This place is awesome!
I wanted to fly a US flag outside of our rented townhouse. I went to Meijer and I bought a 6′ pole with a 3×5 flag. Too big and they didnt have smaller options. I went to Home Depot and bought a 2.5’x4’ flag and it was still too small and didnt have smaller options. So in my frustration, I returned those and remembered The Flag Lady’s Flag Store and her commercials. So I went over there and they had flags of various sizes and flavors. From USA to other countries, sports teams (especially the Buckeyes), police and fire, etc.
I explained my issue to the employee and he fixed me up. He got me a 2’x3’ flag with a 6′ pole (but told me to only use ½ of the pole, the last one was too long). He also hooked me up with a plastic eagle for the top and bracket. I was kinda bummed he could not offer me mounting hardware (had to stop at the hardware store for stainless steel screws). When it was all said and done, I was kinda bummed at the price ($ 45.56 out the door) considering the kit at Meijer was $ 9.99 and the other flag at Home Depot was $ 19.00. The other bad thing is the parking lot in the back. It is small and I drive a full-​size car. They are limited to 9 parking spaces and its tight. You have to turn down West Weisheimer Road and go down a small alley to park back there.
Otherwise, now I have a US flag I can proudly fly in front of my house! Great service!

This store has flags in every shape and size under the sun. Of the United States and of Ohio and Buckeye stuff out the kazoo! There’s no parking on High Street but if you drive around the back of the store, down the alley, there are plenty of spots and a very cheerful entrance. I didn’t see the flag lady herself but the fellow working there was really helpful.

This is a store that takes a lot of pride in the products that they carry. Almost everything in the store is made in the USA, they have more Ohio State flag choices than anywhere else — period. They make the flags that go on the field during Ohio State Buckeye Football games!
They cover all price points as well. If you are looking for top of the line flags, poles, etc. they can get you set up with one. If you want something on a budget — they also have a wide variety of options to choose from as well.
Another really cool offer that they have is if you bring your old and faded American flag in when you come to buy a new one, they’ll give you 10% off of the new one. There is a proper way to dispose of the American flag (a ceremonial burial) and they make sure that any tattered USA flag is taken care of properly.
I splurged on a completely sewn Ohio State flag (like the one that Brutus takes on the field — only smaller) and it was extremely impressive. The attention to detail is something you’ll only find at a small business that really cares about their product.

This place is nuts. Take that darn name seriously — this is a flag store. I’m not sure what I expected from this place. I don’t have much need for flags, but if I did, this is where I would head.
They’ve got American flags, of course, in a near-​absurd number of sizes, prices and qualities. State flags, international flags, military flags, sports teams’ flags and decorative flags all find floor space here as well. This wouldn’t be too shabby of a place to pick up an OSU banner, if that’s you’re sort of thing.
Heck, the Flag Lady even has flag pins. Get that lapel ready.
There were even folks making new flags in a back room. Crazy!

If you’re a rabid member of Buckeye Nation, there is no better place to outfit your garden or homestead with polyester Buckeye goods than at The Flag Lady’s. As a matter of fact, the selection of OSU-​themed flags might seem maniacal upon first impressions. Being an avid supporter of my alma mater, I decided to briefly entertain the idea of giving my front porch a little flare on gamedays, but after browsing most of the offerings in the store I was saddened when I realized that this was not within my budget. With the exception of a flag no larger than a pillowcase, I didn’t see a single thing of worth on display that had a price tag under the $ 40 mark. The selection of MLB and NFL flags was impressive as well, but it was the same exact deal there as well. Maybe I don’t know much about the flag-​making industry, but this seemed to be at least twice what one should expect to pay for a piece of polyester with an emblem stitched on to it. Be warned, I suppose. Price aside, you’d be hard pressed to find a better selection of flags in this city. Like you’d ever be seeking that out in the first place.
The Flag Lady also does custom flags, which I’m sure aren’t cheap, but judging from a few of the examples that were proudly displayed in the annex next to the showroom, this is definitely a craft that they take seriously here. If you’re going to embark on selling nothing but flags, you might as well push it to the limit!
