Description

Specialties

We are beginning our 36th year of showcasing artisan made work from across North America in our new (over three years now!) location at 1190 N. High St. The new neighborhood is evolving and is full of possibilities. One of the great things is abundant parking, including parking meters right out front. We are right across the street from the historic Garden Theater and the brand new Paulie Gee’s Pizzaria and next door to What The Rock and near Rivet, which suits us very well.

We carry both decorative and functional pottery including vases, platters, wall pieces and dinnerware. We have blown glass from sculptural vases to small glass balls for hanging in a window or on a tree. The jewelry comes in all price points and styles from architectural to funky in materials that range from precious metals to concrete to glass. We also carry a wide range of kaleidoscopes, bells, chimes, wooden boxes and much more. We are displaying paintings by Paul Volker, Don Marx, Charles Wince, Michael Secrest, and mixed media work by Vicki Moon Spiegel.

Maria, the owner, is making jewelry again using semiprecious stone beads, glass and lampwork beads that she makes on site. Her current work is inspired by bingewatching Poirot (thanks Netflix!).

History

Established in 1980.

We opened in the Short North before it was the Short North. In 1980 it was a derelict district with a reputation of danger and crime. However, there was also great potential and it sparked our imagination. Years of hard work on the part of many people, including us, brought forth an arts and entertainment district from what many had condemned and wanted to see leveled. Today galleries and restaurants, specialty shops and boutiques occupy space that was once vacant store fronts and vacant lots. Metal arches span the street, defining the district and lighting up the night. Gallery Hop, the first Saturday of every month, draws crowds year round.

In 2012 we moved a few blocks north to the edge of the Short North Arts District. The move was long overdue and I am excited to once again be contributing to the revitalization of the best neighborhood in the city.

Meet the Business Owner

Maria G.

Business Owner

I have owned pm gallery since it opened in 1980. Through the years I have had assorted store dogs and two store kids for company, but it has always been me behind the counter. I do all the buying, so what you see is a reflection of my own particular taste. I hope you share my sense of fun and function!
