La Quinta Inn & Suites Columbus – Edinburgh

I will definitely stay here again. Clean & updated facility. The continental breakfast was above my expectations.

What a happy find! While traveling home from spring break in Alabama to Michigan during the NCAA final four weekend (in Indianapolis), we needed a place for 3 families to stop for the night and watch the basketball games. La Quinta was the second place that I called.
First ~ the front desk worker was so helpful on the phone! I explained that we were in Alabama, but hoped to make it to Indiana in time to watch the game. She found rooms for three families, all next to each other, promised that we had time to cancel if we didn’t make it and all at a very reasonable price.
Second~ this place was so clean and updated! Rooms are large and able to accommodate several people! Our whole group was able to watch MSU lose their shot at the championship game to stupid Duke in comfort.
We were up and on the road early the next morning so I can’t speak to the free breakfast, but just knowing that it is available makes this an even better value!

* OH the beds!!! So comfortable! And when they advertise queen sized– they mean real, live queen sized– not just full sized with a queen sized comforter.

This hotel is clean and modern. They have a happy hour four days a week that is complementary as well as a complimentary breakfast. It was very enjoyable and people were friendly. I would definitely stay there again

Night manager Kim is a customer service whiz. She was friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean, new, and welcoming. All the things most important to me. After a long day of driving (and several miserable attempts at finding a room) this La Quinta was an oasis in the desert! And they’re pet friendly.

This hotel was disappointing — fortunately, we just had to endure 1 night. Upon arrival, nobody was at the front desk. Quite odd, but based on the service level stated in other reviews, quite surprising. Our room appeared clean, but as I slid the coffee table out slightly to plug in my phone, used kleenex came into view on the floor. The worst part of our stay was when anybody opened or closed a door on our floor, our door rattled. Also, we heard the constant pounding of feet on the floor above from people walking. It was relentless. Fortunately, I did have noise-​canceling headphones which allowed for a little rest.

Wow!!! We are traveling across country with newborn grandmother and two dogs, and this was our first hotel. Newer I gave 4 out of 5 stars just because wifi was Meh And Shady Motel 6 is The Next Building Over. However the rooms were super clean and really nice. I always bring my own toiletries because the toiletries at hotels are usually mediocre. Breakfast was good bagels waffles eggs sausage yogurts cereal bannanas was all available.

This particular hotel has received many awards for excellence and they deserve every one of them. They have the best staff, the best rules, the best hospitality I ever witnessed. I highly recommend this location if you’re ever traveling through the Columbus area.

What else does one want from a hotel? I’m a fan of La Quinta hotels now and will seek them out, especially when traveling with the pooches

My husband and I love taking one night get-​aways near our home, so we have stayed at a lot of hotels. The La Quinta Inn in Columbus IN outshines every other pet friendly hotel we have visited. The rooms are quiet, spacious, and immaculate with attractive décor. You would never guess they allow pets! Also, La Quinta has a great reward system for members. On our last visit we booked the king suite with in room jetted tub using our reward points. After we shared a delicious meal at Bistro 310, it was back to our room to watch Dancing with the Stars while soaking in the whirlpool. The next morning, LQ’s complimentary breakfast Then we walked around downtown Columbus and climbed onto the ampitheater stage at Mill Race park to practice our foxtrot. We finished the afternoon with ice cream at Zaharakos and then burgers and a pint of Joie de Vivre at Columbus Bar. Now that’s a trip for enjoying life!

Finally catching up on some of my reviews here, dating back to August of 2012. I’ll go in reverse chronological order starting with this La Quinta location in Columbus, Indiana. Onwards.
Location: 3 out of 5 (for general Brown County area)
This La Quinta is conveniently located right off of I-​65, but not so close that you can hear highway noise. Parking is ample and free, and there’s a gas station right across the street. If you’re looking to spend most of your time in the Brown County State Park area, it’s an easy (not technical/​curvy/​hilly) 15 miles to Nashville. Several fast food and family friendly sit down restaurants are nearby, as is a shopping plaza where you can get groceries.
Cleanliness of Public Spaces: 4.5 out of 5
This location was the cleanest of La Quinta Inn’s I’ve stayed in, and probably one of the cleanest overall hotels overall. The breakfast area was spotless because of a tireless staff, and the indoor pool area also seemed to be well-​maintained. The main carpeted hallways were also well vacuumed.

I was pleased with the breakfast offerings that this location offered, and while it wasn’t gourmet by any means, here are some items that I remember: scrambled eggs, sausage links, waffles (self serve iron), yogurt, breads/​bagels/​pastries, fruit, hard boiled eggs, granola, and cereal. As mentioned previously, they also had an indoor pool that looked well-​maintained, though I did not remember to bring my bathing suit with me. They offer a small «convenience corner» with some food items like snacks and fruit, and maybe some carbonated beverages — this convenience corner will not replace a full on grocery store, but it’s not meant to. The amenities in my king bed room were modern: flat screen/​thin LCD TV, stereo system with i-​device capabilities, a nice work desk, and a corner armchair with footrest/​ottoman come to mind. The toiletries in the restroom aren’t what I would call boutique, but they were a step above what you would usually find in a budget motel. The towels were surprisingly soft, i.e., not as itchy as I expected them to be, and providing q-​tips was a nice touch that I noticed, but did not use. The bed itself was awesome — very supportive but not overly hard, and they did a very nice job matching all of the sheets with the decorative pillows. WiFi is free, and the signal is fair. If you have reliable 3G or 4G on your smart devices, those services may be a bit faster.
Friendliness of staff: 4 out of 5
I don’t have anything negative to say about the friendliness of the staff at this location. Everyone was polite and courteous, but I should mention that the lady who works the breakfast area was extremely friendly and helpful. Not only was she constantly clearing off tables, but she also came by at least twice to make sure that I had everything that I needed.
Cost: 3 out of 5
Probably the «low» point of my stay. Regular rates are around 90 — 100 bucks a night, but I qualified for a rate which brought the total to 86 dollars, including all local taxes and fees. This is probably 20 dollars more than I would have liked to pay, but since I was only there for one evening, it wasn’t terrible. When leveraged against the other motels and hotels in the area, I think that this LQI is very reasonably priced.
Overall: 4 out of 5
If you’re just stopping on the way through, this LQI will exceed your expectations in terms of overall comfort and amenities. If you’ve got children with you and you’ve planned ahead, I would imagine that the heated indoor pool would be a great draw. For me — I chose this location because it was convenient to the highway AND not too far away from the Brown County State Park area. I expect to stay at this location again given my somewhat frequent trips down to Indiana to take my motorcycle on the beautiful roads, and I would highly recommend this location to others who are looking to do the same.

Very nice hotel. It is only a year old, so everything is new and clean. Reasonable price. It feels like you are staying in a more expensive hotel.

Out of the hotel chains in Columbus, I recommend this one over the others in a similar price range (I’ve stayed at Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn). The complimentary breakfast in the morning is nice and fresh and the lady cooking the food is really friendly. On weekdays, there’s a free happy hour with wine, draft beer, and popcorn. The wifi works throughout the hotel. The pool and hot tub are fine and there’s a good-​sized gas grill outside as well. Check in is generally quick. The rooms are modern and include a mini-​fridge and microwave, which I LOVE. Sometimes I need to be at work really early (4am), before the breakfast starts, and it’s great to able to start my morning with some cereal, oatmeal, or a Hot Pocket instead of just an energy bar. One of Columbus’s many bike trails goes by the hotel, so bring your bike if you want to ride. There are many restaurants nearby and several pizza chains deliver to this location as well. Beds are very comfortable and the shower heads are nice. Bathrooms spacious as well. No bedbug problems either (at least in my roomS)! Yay!

I rarely stay in La Qunita’s, but after this visit, that may change. I made the reservation a few days out and the confirmation was in my e-​mail before I hung up the phone.
Upon check in, the girl asked my name and whipped out the check in sheet for my signature and was given a prepared room key (no reswiping the card).
The room was brand new, very well appointed, had that ‘new hotel room smell’. Very clean. Free breakfast. Nice staff.
Very close to I-​65.
The only thing they need to fix is the flourescent bulbs in the lamps — I get efficiency, but every bulb was flourescent which kills the eyeballs.
