Not only the best food, but overwhelming the best service. From the hostess seating is to the waiter and kitchen staff– top notch. Sit at the kitchen bar stool area best experience!

Another great meal at Cap City! Our waiter, Vince, was hilarious!!! Great waiter with a wonderful sense of humor and exceptional attention to detail. I had my usual Black and Blue Salmon Salad… always wonderful. A friend had the steak and said it was one of best she has ever had… I had a bite and indeed it was wonderfully marbled and tender, cooked to perfection. The other person in our party is vegetarian and Vince took it upon himself to order a special entrée for our friend. We were all very pleased with our meals.

We scoped out the menu before arriving and were able to get the best deals on our combined meals by eating between their happy hour times. We were able to dine early, thus avoiding the Friday night crowd. I can not say enough about the service and our food. I wanted a crab cake and wanted to try their Maytag Blue Cheese chips appetizer. The happy hour menu had the chips for $ 5, a crab cake for $ 7 and I found a nice Pinot Noir on their Happy hour menu for just $ 5. You can’t beat that! It proved to be plenty of food. My husband wanted the Meatloaf, which he had tried before and was not disappointed either. I can’t put into words how good those chips were!

This is another place I don’t go to alone or regularly. I seem to always end up here for work related lunch or dinner. The food is always good and consistant for the price. They also have a gluten free menu for those who need it. I cannot think of anything stellar or outstanding that I have had and need to go back for sadly. I do know some people go back for the desserts but that isn’t my thing haha.

This is a solid, semi-upscale diner. By that I mean, it has a sort-of classic diner feel in some areas, but more of a upscale setting elsewhere. People were casual to dressy in attire, which made me unsure if I was dressed appropriately. I think other things made up for this, but I think I’d still rate it as just over 3 stars. I also had to deduct some points for it being difficult to find with lacking signage in front. I circled the block 3 times before finding the place! If you’re going on a weekend, I definitely recommend this because the place was PACKED when we left(we reserved for 5 pm, so it was just starting to fill in when we arrived). There’s also limited parking spots and the whole lot was totally full with people parking where there weren’t actually any spots marked. I ordered off the gluten free menu(I have to be gluten free due to celiac), which I requested when I made the reservation. Had no issues with receiving my meal and ate safely! We ordered the shrimp cocktail starter — Yum! The girl child did not care for the legs still being on them, though. I ordered a Ruben on a gluten free sandwich roll with jalapeño coleslaw on the side. The sandwich was quite good, could have used a little more dressing. The coleslaw wasn’t really spicy at all, but did have good flavor. My dining companions(boyfriend and his daughter) ordered a burger and a meat loaf sandwich, which they both quite enjoyed. If we were back in the area and wanted a solid gluten-free dining spot and could make reservations in advance, we would definitely return.

Came here with my boyfriend and his family. Cap City has good and solid food. Everything has huge portions(one entrée is like for two people). I ordered the Fish and Chips. The beer battered fish was cooked very well with nice breading. I could even slightly taste the beer part. The coleslaw was well done and everything was nice and crispy. My boyfriend ordered the crusted chicken and it was great as well. My boyfriend’s dad ordered the cheese burger and his mom ordered the Club, both solid and delicious choices. We ended the night with chocolate cake and it was huge and delicious as well.

Went here for lunch with my boyfriend. I had the pecan crusted pork chop and he the meatloaf. Both excellent and juicy! We’ve also tried the Cup O Chocolate and Big Chocolate Cake and can easily say some of the best desserts we’ve had! Cute little diner and service was great as well.

Cute little diner, I loved the ambiance. When we first arrived the hostess completely ignored us because she was too busy chit chatting with one of her friends. Everyone knows the golden rule: It’s All about the FIRST impression! I ordered a rib eye and the peanut butter chocolate cheese cake which was extra yummy! I had a margarita on the rocks, it was pretty strong. The bread is extra buttery. It’s a nice little diner but for the price of a rib eye I’d much better go to a steak house who specializes in providing better steaks. The restrooms are clean, the bartender was a little occupied but quick to bring us our tab.

Literally enough food to feed 2 people! Good value. I tried the meatloaf(yummy) off of a friend’s plate. I and ordered the pork chop. When I was stuffed(couldn’t eat another bite) a friend joined late and ate the rest of my meal. Too good

This is a cute little restaurant in Columbus The hostess was rude and chatted with a friend instead of seating us. The waitress is curt also. Other than that the bread was delicious, the ambiance is ok. Art Deco style with homage to late 40’s early 50’s automobile diner. My beer came quickly. Ribeye tasted liked they added too much butter to give it flavor. The meatloaf was really good but probably because the bread it was on had added sugar and butter.

Came in for lunch on a Thursday at noon. Parking was very hard to find and a wait for 4 was 20 minutes, luckily we found 4 «counter seats» overlooking the kitchen, which were available for immediate occupation. I was between the Ruben and the fish sandwich, the waitress told me the Ruben is popular but she personally adores the fish sandwich. So I went with the fish sandwich and fries. Our meals were out in what felt like 5 minutes or less! My fish sandwich was amazing, huge, crispy, so amazing. The best fish sandwich I’ve had since moving to Ohio! One friend got the philly cheese steak, I tried it and it was a great flavor! Also a great choice. Another friend got the fish and chips, smaller pieces of fish than my sandwich but also crispy and wonderful. The fourth of us got a cup of soup and a key lime pie, which was a very large portion of pie. There was a lot of crust to it, but it was good none the less! It was its own individual very tall pie. We did have to hunt the waitress down for water refills, which a few other people on Unilocal mentioned. The waitress did take care of our checks in lightning fast time. And like other reviews on Unilocal said, none of the staff standing around the door tells you goodbye when you leave(which is fine by me.) I’ll be back for sure, for $ 11 that fish sandwich was huge and amazing and I can’t wait to bring my mother here to try it!

Cap City is a classic Cameron Mitchell restaurant, and they have been a staple in Columbus for over 20 years now. They have a wonderful menu, an awesome happy hour, and a good location in terms of highway access and being close enough to downtown without being in the middle of the chaos(there is an actual parking lot!). I will say that the restaurant could be about twice the size it is today and it would still be crazy busy. Do not expect to walk in and be seated right away, even with a small party. I personally would recommend reservations, especially for dinner, and even still, I have experienced waits of about 15 minutes with a reservation. The big problem with that is there is a very small area to wait for your table, and chances are the bar will be full which leaves you literally almost nowhere to stand. Once you’re able to make it to a table though, the experience improves significantly. At dinner they serve hot, fresh butter rolls which are so addicting, and at brunch they serve cinnamon buns which are even more addicting… they have a variety of great appetizers too. Check out their happy hour M-F 4 – 6 to get apps for $ 3, $ 5, or $ 7 including pretzel sticks and awesome wings! As for entrees, my personal favorite is the Ponzu glazed salmon, but they have a large variety of choices from sandwiches to their famous meatloaf to a spicy rigatoni pasta dish. They really have something for everyone! And for dessert I have to recommend the carrot cake. It is a HUGE serving, so be prepared to share, but it is so rich and decadent you’ll forget that it actually contains fruit and veggies! Also the chocolate mug cake is very good, and the apple pie. In reality, you can’t go wrong with their desserts. Overall, aside from a few logistical challenges, Cap City really knows what they’re doing when it comes to running a restaurant. I will keep coming back for years to come!

Had out annual office Christmas lunch here. Ordered the Romano crusted chicken. It’s incredible. The cheese is perfectly crusted onto the chicken. The flavor of the Romano has that perfect bite. And the chicken is always cooked perfectly. I have had the meatloaf here before and can say that it is equally delicious. I can’t imagine a bad item on their menu. Only downfall is the parking situation and maybe the seating in the building when busy. Gets a tiny bit cramped.

Love this little diner. Service is excellent, and so is the food. As a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, customer service is at the top of their list. Whatever you ask them, they will make it happen. Get the house chips with alfredo sauce — sooo ridiculously good. The triple decker grilled cheese is also really good, and I haven’t tried a salad I didn’t like. Molten chocolate dessert is also the best. Don’t miss this place.

This Cameron Mitchell restaurant was a nice changeup from their typical fine-dining establishments. It was a fun little throw back diner with great service and great food! We got two appetizers as we couldnt decide on just one, the crab cake and the peel and eat shrimp. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. Nothing crazy but considering they are going for a «diner» atmosphere, its better than you would expect! I got the tamarind chicken wings and fries as my meal and they were wonderful. A great sauce flavor that ive never seem anywhere else was smokey and had a good amount of kick, they were delicious with the blue cheese dressing. My dad got the blue plate special for the night, which was liver and onions, a dish he is very fond of. I had never tried it but after it got his approval, i gave it a whirl and was not disappointed! Will definitely be going back to Cap City.

Nothing bad at all about this spot. But nothing is great either. Consider it a step above a chain brunch joint. Friendly staff and good food make me think that people keep coming here because both stay consistent. The is a huge line to get in– which should spell superb. But in this case it spells–«Arby’s isn’t open yet» or «my sports coat won’t allow me to go to Denny’s» Not worth a wait. But if you can sit right away you might as well come in and take part in a group yawn.

Happy to have discovered Cap City while in Columbus over the weekend. This place has the NYC/Miami diner charm with a polished feel. We came on a Sunday during lunch, and were pleased that we were able to order from an expansive menu of brunch options in addition to the traditional menu. I opted for a tried-and-true cheeseburger, which didn’t disappoint. The burger was cooked to medium rare perfection, and the toasted sesame bun was buttery and warm. French fries were delicious, too. One of the most enjoyable surprises were the complementary cinnamon buns. They were warm, fluffy and had just the right amount of sweetness to them. I’m drooling just thinking about them again now. Our server was great and the dining experience was one I won’t quickly forget. I’ll certainly be back on my next visit to town.

I read a lot about Cap City’s meatloaf on Unilocal and was eager to try the dish. I am a fan of Cameron Mitchell’s restaurants in general and I’ve only had excellent experiences at his other restaurants. I was expecting no less from Cap City Diner. However, this was a case of expectations exceeding reality. Overall, I was disappointed with their meatloaf dish. Cap City does get an A for presentation though. It is an impressive plate of meatloaf topped with mashed potatoes and fried onions reaching almost half a foot in height. Taste-wise however, I found the dish to be lacking. To be honest, I think I prefer Boston Market meatloaf. Especially for $ 17.50, I was expecting some sort of twist on the classic or at least more flavor. I found the BBQ gravy to be a little bland and overly sweet. My favorite part of the dish was probably the mashed potatoes. I could also do without the broccoli. My buddy ordered the pork dish and said it was excellent. Judging from other reviews, that’s also another popular dish at Cap City Diner. I’ll be back to give Cap City another shot, I just will not be ordering the meatloaf again. ***3.5 stars***

Tried Cap City with my girlfriend and was pretty blown away in our first visit. We decided to split a pecan pork chop because it was lunch time, we knew we’d be getting dessert, and we weren’t looking to eat too heavy. Even after splitting, the pork chop was fairly large. The pecan topping was amazing, the meat was very tender, and the whole thing was extremely flavorful. The spinach and mashed potatoes on the side were very good as well. For dessert we tried the Big Cup of Chocolate, which is essentially a bottomless pit of chocolate lava cake topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Both my girlfriend and I dug in on the super delicious cake and kept eating scoop after scoop of ice cream and cake… but that big cup of chocolate was truly BIG! We weren’t even able to finish; however, the taste was amazing. Our server was friendly as well, and everything about Cap City was very pleasant!
