We offers Emissions Testing services in the Colma, Daly City and South San Francisco area. We are a Star Certified station and are certified inspect all vehicles, including Out of State, Star Certified, Change of Ownership, or DMV Directed.

I have been associated automobile services industry and have been doing SMOG testing for seven (7) year at this location.

I am fully certified by Bureau of Automotive Repairs (BAR), California and have high performance and quality scores on different SMOG Check measurement standards set by BAR.

Our goal here at STAR Smog Depot is to provide honest, professional and hassle free convenient service to our customers without taking shortcuts and compromising any quality.

I like the fact you can go to this shop and be in/​out in about 30 minutes or less. It all depends though how busy it is but for the most part the techs are efficient in handling the load. Been going here for the past couple years and I’ve never had to wait long. Since this place do not conduct repairs, the tech /​techs will give you reasonable advise if your car fails.
Clean spot, it’s close enough to places with food and service is good. No complaints on my end.

Terrible service. Wouldn’t honor my check-​in coupon even thiugh it was my first time visiting! Attendant was not at all helpful. Will take my business elsewhere next time and will make sure to tell all friends and relatives to avoid this place.

SMOG Certification required at a STAR station? Look no further, this is your spot!
First off, hours are M-​F 8am — 5pm. Sat 8am — 4pm.
Needed a STAR certification for my vehicle, and luckily I received some coupons for this place in my mailbox. I showed up about 30 minutes before closing on a weekday, and the tech was able to fit me in no problem, even though he was already working on two vehicles, and expecting an appointment to show up as well. Nice guy! When you get there, just go straight up to the tech to see if he can accommodate you. There’s a small waiting room attached to the garage. The service was quick enough, considering the queue before me. I was in and out in about 40 minutes. Not too bad. Overall, I highly recommend this place.
Protip: Call in for an appointment if you choose. Look out for discount coupons in your mail, for up to $ 30 off your service. Or, since you’re already on Unilocal,simply check-​in to unlock a similar offer. Sweet!

This place is ridiculous. The person there today made us wait 3 hours. We came he said 45 mins come back after the machine starts up and we went to Target came back and he said another 45 mins. Comes back after 45 mins and says another 45 mins to an hour. All while he’s doing other damn cars!!! Like hello we’ve been there!!! And he’s just telling us the machine isn’t working right all while other customers have came and passed. He’s just lazy and didn’t not want to fit anyone in. Horrible. Will not be coming back.

Made a appointment. The guy helping me was super friendly. He was very fast and efficient, especially I had my son with me and he also honored the Unilocal discount. The total I paid was $ 48. Last time I paid $ 75 somewhere else. I will always come here now if I need a smog.

I went in the morning about an hour after they opened on Saturday, the guy who helped me out was really friendly and patient. He knew what he was doing because I didn’t have to wait so long in the waiting room. The location is also close by so it’s very convenient.

Came here a few days before my DMV registration was due. Oops! But the gentleman at the counter who was checking people in and doing the smog check was courteous and multi-​tasking at a fast and efficient pace. He honored the Unilocal deal for checking in as well. I was in and out within 20 minutes!

STAR certified. $ 88.00 for my old car. (They have to run more tests.) He gave me a $ 10 discount, which is better than zero discount. Definitely on the pricey side.
Service = friendly. I called and they said they had availability at 3:30. I arrived around 3:20 and was taken care of immediately.
Testing took less than 20 minutes. Scanned, sent to DMV, and a copy of test results for my records.
Waiting area = 8 chairs and a water cooler.
I highly suggest calling ahead of time, and making sure they’re open and/​or have availability. And definitely check Unilocal for better pricing on year 2000 and newer cars.

Great and super friendly service with a smile! I did not have to make an appointment for my Saturday morning visit. There were only two people ahead of me, with a practically zero wait time. You would spend more time in a line at Stabucks than the time you spend here. The best part is the friendly service. If you feel the price is a little high, other places are about the same. Having a car isn’t always cheap and people have to make a living too. Since most only have to smog every 2 years, the price is worth it. Thank you for a hassle-​free, fast and friendly experience!

I went here last Saturday because the posted hours on the building and on the web say that it opens at 8:00 AM on Saturdays. I arrived promptly at 8 but it was still closed so I had a donut and coffee up the street. I came back after about half an hour and it was STILL closed. I figured maybe the workers are just running late so I ran a few errands and came back at 9:30 AM but they were still CLOSED!
Frustrated I called the number but no one answered. The phone in the shop was ringing but obviously nobody showed up to work!
I wanted to go to this station because it is one of the few that is not within a gas/​repair station but I ended up going to Westlake Smog Test Station and to my surprise they were efficient, friendly and very professional. I was in and out in about 10 minutes with 1990 Miata smog certification in hand.

Brought my dad’s truck in here for a smog inspection. The tech was very friendly. The place is clean, has parking, water while you wait. Depending on who’s before you for the test– it all depends how long you’ll be there. I waited a while till someone’s test was over but once it was my turn it took no more than 15/​20minutes.

Visited the shop on MLK holiday for smog check for my 2007 Toyota Camry around noon and shop was busy with four people in front of me becoming a 45min wait. Maybe best to come an hour earlier or later as I hit the peak hour.
Although it was a one man shop at this hour, I thought the service provided was good. Attendant was very attentive with all customers and remembered who came in first and what car they drove in. If shop is busy just take a seat and attendant will get to you shortly. Just have car registration and keys ready. If wait is long take a short walk around the area or across the street to some shops.
Attendant honored the Unilocal ad of $ 36.75, provided you «check in» the shop on Unilocal.Paid a total of $ 45 ($ 36.75+$ 8.25 state certificate) for a passing smog check. Reg price for smog check is $ 69.75 + $ 8.25 State Cert.

Hella fast! Less than 15 mins, and 2 ppl in front of me. I thought i’m gettin cut in, but when i check in with them, they’re done. Tommy explained, They use the wireless bluetooth equipment.
Im still speechless. Anyway, mention Unilocal and you get $ 45 off the door. With Star certification.
