Description

Specialties

I am a drum instructor available for students of all ages and skill levels. Lessons will focus on everything from hand technique to timekeeping to drum set application to any other areas of interest. Besides focusing on the necessary mechanics and technique, we will also keep a keen eye towards creativity, fun, expression, and applying what is learned to practical musical situations.

My specialty is the drum set and snare drum, but I am also available for instruction in hand percussion and rhythm coaching for young drummers and non-drumming performers/dancers.

Lessons are given in my home studio conveniently located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of College Park MD. My studio is complete with two drumsets, percussion, and any teaching materials we could possibly need. I am also able to record the student, so they may listen back over the week and make improvements.

History

Established in 2005.

I have been passionate about drumming since I started playing at the age of 9. When I first started teaching other drummers I realized how much I enjoyed that as well! Working with students of all ages and skill levels lets me focus on and share the thing I love. My favorite part of teaching is seeing other drummers get more and more excited about their instrument!

Meet the Business Owner

Andrew T.

Business Owner

I began playing the drums at age 9 and since then I have been honing and applying those skills to musical groups of all types, from rock and pop to big band to world music to orchestral to small combos and everything in between. In 2007, I embarked on a two and a half year gig with Princess Cruises as a show band drummer, and travelled the world on some of the world’s most modern ships while performing on stage over 1000 times. In 2011, I joined renowned Celtic/Gypsy/Americana band Scythian, a band which tours extensively and is known for their energetic live show. I 2013, I joined The Royal Noise, an exciting band that «forges an ebullient fusion of sinewy funk, gritty jazz, psychedelic rock and live hip-hop elements». At the end of 2013 I moved to the DC area, where I am excited to meet other musicians and become involved in the music scene.
