I went here for a Saturday lunch and it was lovely. I had a good chicken pot pie, and a blood orange tart for dessert. The crab cake appetizer had the perfect lemon flavor. The chicken pot pie was good but the whole pearl onions were tasty but ruined the whole temperature(too hot). The chicken paillard was fantastic. Had delicious rainbow carrots with the salmon. The cookie and milkshake were classic and dense. They make their own cookie dough. The blood orange tart was delicious but the tart curd could have been set more . Overall had a really great experience and I loved the decorations and atmosphere Would recommend !

The sandbar is absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious! Had the Red Delicious martini which speaks for itself. For my entrée I had the chicken pillared is was also very delicious! Beautiful ambiance and nice and quite! Everyone from the hostess to the waitress was extremely nice and made me feel comfortable! Can’t wait to come back!

Great new spot in CSH. Food was great, bar is very nice and plenty of TV’s but not with a sportsbar feel, which was nice. Will definitely be returning.

As great as any NYC restaurant. Came here for valentines eve. So pleasantly surprised. The food, décor, and service were an A++!

WOW! Although we always read reviews before heading out this one we took a chance and kept in mind most people are un-satisfiable if they are unhappy in their heart. Initial arrival we pulled up to a beautiful restaurant from the outside. Aside from the snow on main st it was a beautiful sight. There was a nice hostess who immediately greeted us and said we can sit although we wanted to have a cocktail first. Dan warmly greeted us at the bar and gave suggestions as well as drink menus(cocktail and wine). He suggested we check out the restaurant which includes a beautiful dining room complete with a fireplace and«beach feeling» décor. Then we examined the private affair room which It was love at hello. Warmly decorated, lots of LI pictures and an armoire that opens to reveal a screen if you are presenting(work, pictures, videos, remembrance or event) information to a group. The room seems to fit approx. 8 although they said can fit much more. Sat at the bar, looked up and WOW the light fixtures and overhead windows revealed a sky of beauty and snow of course. We ordered the gluten free appetizer made from chick peas which once you taste it(crisp, light, fluffy yet hardy) fries which were out of this world with a spicy sricracha sauce. We had a pomegranate cocktail without the spice, and a Chianti. Then moved over to the dining area which have some bench seat type setting. We faced the fireplace and the temperature was comfortable. Nick greeted us and shared the specials. We enjoyed a salad with vinaigrette(a bit tangy) we had it on the side. Then a seafood platter ½ order as one dinner and a pork chop with vegetables for the other person in out party. There was a gentleman at the bar enjoying the pork chop so this prompted us to order as well since he raved it was cooked to perfection. Dinner was served to temperature as requested, water glasses were filled. Our waiter brought our dinner drinks rather late into the dinner but it gave us a chance to drink h20 and talk some more. I suggest having a restroom on the main floor as it is down a considerable amt of stairs for those who are more mature and need access. The food presentation, temperature and taste were impeccable. I am a tough critic and will drive a distance again to return to this hidden gem of CSH.

I’m giving my honest opinion after dining here once. I am not impressed, I was expecting more from a Guy Reuge restaurant and one that was rated highly by Newsday! I love Mirabelle and Mirabelle tavern, so of course I was expecting excellent food. I dined with my husband and two friends. To start I had the foie gras of the day which was really good. My husband had the tuna tartare which was mediocre as he put it «no flavor». One friend had the oysters which were good. But they could not find the horseradish, so not as good as they could have been. Our other friend had the clams casino, which he let me try. Again mediocre, not great but not awful. I felt that they were a bit under cooked. But that may be my preference. I like a clam to be cooked if it is warm not warm and raw. If I want raw I will take them cold. So on to the main course… I had the scallops and risotto, again mediocre. Not a lot of flavor, I would not order this ever again(if I go back) just blah. My husband had the duck, he said it was«ok» but not great. He said it was only tasty if you ate a bite in conjunction with all the other things on the plate. The duck was bland alone. One of our friends had the wild boar dish, which was good but not great. Our other friend had salmon which was good. Dessert was not very satisfying. I had the pound cake which was stale. My husband and his friend had the«hot fudge» sundae which they both said lacked hot fudge. I will say that the ambiance is wonderful, it is a beautiful restaurant and the staff was very friendly. If the food improves I might return but for the price there are better restaurants on the island to go to.

Everything we ordered from the appetizers, to the main courses, on to the desserts was excellent. With this, the service was outstanding, the décor was understated and chic, and as we where leaving, we even got to meet the chef! There are so many places in Nassau and Suffolk that are either uninspiring or downright embarrassing. It’s great to find a place on Long Island that has food that uses what’s local and fresh in such a delicious way.

Went for our anniversary dinner and we were very happy. The waiter was friendly and helpful, the bartenders were outgoing and honest with the drink menu. We had the duck tacos and chickpea fries as an appetizer and were very impressed. I had the wild boar pasta which was very good, needed some salt and pepper. My wife had the scallops which she said was excellent. Would definitely go back again.

Just coming up for air now that the holidays are over so this review is late. Four of us visited the Teddy Roosevelt Museum right after Thanksgiving and decided to head over to Cold Spring Harbor to find a place to eat a late lunch. It was a Saturday. We found Sand Bar and went in. It was very recently open and it was a gloomy weather day so the town was empty and understandably so was the restaurant. We had a very professional waiter take care of us. The atmosphere was simple and cozy. We ordered steak sandwiches, a tuna tartar entrée, salmon a Cobb salad, soups and some appetizers. I can’t remember everything since it was a month ago, but the breads were great. Overall it was a good experience and the service was excellent. Good luck to them.

Interesting experience… went for a 6pm dinner and arrived at 5:50. We were told our table wasn’t ready although clearly, there were a few tables for two open. They suggested we wait at the bar. The bar and the dining room are extremely well done, actually, beautiful. My wife and I had been at the last restaurant which was located here so we can appreciate the work the new owners have done to the building. Our table was ready at 6:05pm. Once seated, we were shoulder to shoulder with the other tables for two in the restaurant. The seating is very tight in all areas of the dining room. Needless to say, we could hear every word of the two couples sitting on either side of us. In summary, beautiful space, very noisy and tight seating. The wait staff was very nice but not really attentive. When we ordered glasses of wine, it took over 10 minutes to arrive. For appetizers, my wife ordered the crab bisque and I ordered the clams casino. We also ordered the chickpea fries to try because it sounded very interesting. The clams casino and the chickpea fries were outstanding, A+. Unfortunately, my wife’s crab bisque was luke warm at best, but tasty. For dinner, I had the duck and my wife had the scallops. Both entrees were very good but the duck was over cooked. The biggest problem was, I ordered another glass of wine with my dinner and it arrived once I was finished, disappointing. I think the restaurant has some kinks to work out with wait staff and even in the kitchen. Food is good and very interesting. I will go again someday in the future to see if it stays on our ‘go to’ list.

Very friendly staff and the interior is done well. Stopped in for a relaxing Saturday lunch. Chickpea fries were great — I have never seen this before and I was not disappointed. Long Island Clam Chowder was a perfect choice for the somewhat chilly afternoon. Plentiful clams and a tasty broth. Solid chopped salad although perhaps a little heavy handed on the feta. I should have ordered the dressing on the side but it was not swimming in dressing. We will definitely be back!

Ate there recently and was underwhelmed. Expected better and here’s why. I booked thru open table and requested a quiet, more private table(I read the reviews that it was noisy). When we arrived, the restaurant was only 25% occupied but the hostess first offered us a table for 2 right next to an occupied table – only about 12″ between the tables. We finally got a table which was more private but I guess they don’t pay attention to special requests on reservations. My husband is a foie gras fan but this is not the true foie gras – meaning seared goose liver – this is a pâté. We specifically asked about that but, when it arrived, it was pâté. Sent it back – to spend $ 30 for an appetizer that’s pâté is crazy. Now we have to wait for his appetizer while mine has already arrived. Hate that. I think the entrée menu is limited; maybe because they are new and they’re starting small. I don’t understand why a cheeseburger is on the menu with $ 30+ entrees(for kids?). Our entrees were good and they better be when you pay what you’ll end up paying. Bottom line – we spent about $ 100 per person which included 2 drinks each, an appetizer, and an entrée, no dessert, and tip. For that I expected so much more!

Had a great lunch at this new Cold Spring Harbor restaurant. The service by Nicole was on point and the food was both presented well and tasted even better. Started off with duck tacos which had great flavor. Then for entrée I had the Cobb salad which had perfectly grilled chicken & crispy bacon along with the usual Cobb salad accompaniments. The manager James stopped by to check on us and was very cordial & gracious. Great wine list is a big plus too. Not your every day wines that you find on most lists these days. Cannot wait to come back for dinner.

Had 8:15 reservation, seated at 9:00. While waiting in the bar area, hostesses had an argument and took it out back, which was amusing to watch. We asked several times when table would be ready, they could have comped us a round of drinks at the bar, so we blew some extra dough just waiting around. Perhaps she was still to focused on the argument. Acoustically, the place is very noisy. Food was decent. Duck tacos were a hit. Says it’s open until 12:00, but at 11:00 on a Saturday night no less, we were the last table, again due in part to being seated late, and staff was antsy to get tables ready for closing so a lot of shuffling of chairs. Was hoping for a good homey place which the area needs, but this isn’t it. Pretty sure the white colored Porsche, Mercedes and range rover crowd will keeping it going for a while longer.

The dinner had last week was about the very BEST food that I’ve ever had. I’m a vegetarian and the pasta(their only veg choice) was so good — not buried in sauce, perfectly seasoned. My husband had fish and said that is was terrific. The service — great, the bread and oil — couldn’t be better. It can get noisy so make a reservation around the sides of the room. You definitely need a reservation after 6:30pm. We tried to get in at 8 one night but there were people waiting for a table outside ! Guy Ruge(?sp) from Mirabelle in Smithtown is the head Chef and you know what terrific food that was.

Came here to try a new spot for dinner and enjoyed it I was greeted with a smile and was seated right away, the décor was nice and cozy with paintings of cold spring harbor with a nice fireplace and great lighting. The music was classic rock which I enjoyed and the food was good, I had the sea scallops with Risotto Which seemed a little under cooked but was pretty good. Appetizer was the Tuna tartare which I thought was excellent. I would definitely try this place again!

Still has that new restaurant smell. The staff were top notch. Very professional and knowledgable. Had a cheese plate to start which was excellent. Also tried the foie gras of the day and Cesar salad. Both wonderful. For the main course we had the salmon and chicken Parmesan. The salmon was very good but a tad oily. Dessert was delicious, get the milk and cookies. Here is why there is one star missing. Noise level is out of control LOUD. You can’t hear yourself think that’s how LOUD it is. The ceilings are vaulted cathedral and the floor is wood. No carpet anywhere so the sound echoes and travels. I actually had to put tissue in my ears because of the noise. I don’t think the owner is to concerned about this as the people who designed this space must of known it was not going to be a moderate level for sound. It’s great to have a new non chain restaurant open up and I hope to return soon. Congrats and good luck!

Went for lunch. Beautifully renovated, very attractive with high ceilings. In fact the ceilings are so high that it was so loud with the echo. Add the close proximity of the tables-could barely converse with my lunch partner. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the duck tacos appetizer. My friend ordered the grilled cheese with French fries. The French fries were very good, and the grilled cheese was good. The duck tacos were unimpressive. The corn tortilla was chewy, like they were stale. The duck filling was delicious but it was a very skimpy portion. I don’t mind small portions but it should be proportionate-use a smaller tortilla! It looked silly. The waitress came to check on us after the food was served and when I told her the tortilla was chewy she took it back to change it to a taco shell. We waited a very long time and when it finally came back it was the same type of tortilla as the first one-although this time a bit less chewy then the first. They did put more of the duck filling in it though-but it still looked skimpy. We did not get bread until the middle of our meal. I was going to ask for more bread and just take the duck out of the tortilla and eat it with bread but at that point just wanted to finish. My cocktail was delicious. Pretty pricy-one cocktail, one appetizer, and one sandwich with fries– came to $ 49. $ 60 with tip. Maybe my experience was a one off-but I won’t be going back to try again.
