Red Kiwi

It’s not Self Serve Yogurt, but they have a good selection of flavors and toppings. The Nutella Yogurt had a good flavor, consistency and didn’t melt too quickly. With the Unilocal discount I found on my iPhone, it was a better deal than the Self Serve places.

All I need to say is… Nutella and Birthday Cake was delicious! Didn’t have the apple pie, but I know what I’m doing next sunday!

I knew I couldn’t base my review off the first time I came because I was breaking up with my then boyfriend. But it turns out, that isn’t what made this place less than stellar, because this time I came with a very talkative and funny 8 year old girl who is my «little sister».
We both ordered the strawberry frozen yogurt. The plain was disgusting (i recommend samples!) and the with blueberry as the other option, strawberry was the sad winner. Both times (Chocolate Raspberry), the yogurt has seemed a bit sour. They offer a wide variety of toppings and are pretty generous (with the sprinkles, at least!)
Anyway, it’s nothing to rave about. Especially at $ 9.00 for two small cups!

I really love that the delicious nutella flavor is always available. Toppings are a reasonable $.50 (versus $.95 at other local spots.) They have good mochi too. I always come here after lunch at George’s.

This place has nothing on Yogurbella, Pink Berry, or Yogurtland. My yogurt was melting before I walked out the door and just did not taste that great. I recommend Yogurbella, which is just one block over from this Froyuck place.
FINAL VERDICT: The original home of the Froyuck

I moved from LA 3 years ago and have had cravings for Pinkberry every since. Red Kiwi matched the décor and flavor of Pinkberry plus one upped them by adding other flavors. I tried the blueberry yogurt which was really good and tasted like fresh blueberries but I opted for the original since I was adding toppings. The yogurt was nice and tangy and was a perfect addition to a hot summer day. The fruit toppings were fresh and sweet. The person working behind the counter was very nice and helpful. I’m docking it one star because it is really expensive. Two small cups of frozen yogurt ended up costing over $ 11. Good but not sure it’s worth it to eat it often.

Pretty good yogurt place, the shop is clean and the ladies working behind the counter have always been pleasant and helpful. As for the yogurt, the original is great. It’s nice and tart and the consistency is similar to Pinkberry’s. They advertise that the yogurt is fat free, but when I asked about the delicious nuetella, they said it was only low fat.
The fruit toppings at Red Kiwi are all fresh and ripe. I like how they take their time when serving and put toppings in the bottom of the cup as well as spread them prettily around the top of your yogurt for you, but the amount of yogurt is kind of inconsistent. Sometimes you’ll get a ton of yogurt and other times there will be barely any in your cup. It’s also kinda expensive for a small at $ 5.50 with 2 toppings, but I guess that fresh fruit is expensive and they give you a lot. I just wish they always gave you a consistent amount of yogurt to go with all that fruit.

I regret to say that the consistency and flavor of the froyo has declined considerably. That coupled with consistently failing customer service from the employees has led me to no longer be a patron.

This kind of tastes like a yawn. Even the Nutella.

If I had never in my life tasted bubble tea before I still wouldn’t have liked the mango bubble tea at Red Kiwi. There just seems to be something wrong. The consistency is off and that changes the flavor leaving you with something that tastes more like a mango slushy with some tapioca balls.
I’d stick to the fro-​yo and steer clear of the bubble tea.

I’m addicted to this frozen yogurt!!! It’s velvety and thick like Greek yogurt and is really fat free, even the Nutella flavor. I love that they are generous with the toppings and let you try all the flavors (4 flavors only at a time through). I prefer this over Tasty Delight for sure!

4.5. Finally made it to Red Kiwi, another stop on my frozen yogurt mission. This is another healthy, or as some people call it — «tart» froyo joint. What makes this place especially good is that they have mochi — which is really the perfect topping, in my humble opinion. Just love the chewy texture.
I tried the green tea, which was tasty, but I went with strawberry. Delightfully creamy and delicious. Another feature I LOVE about this place is that they put toppings on the bottom and in the middle of your yogurt — maybe they read Maria A’s review suggesting it? Anyway, that’s just the icing on the cake — so to speak. The yogurt is really tasty, and the staff was nice — all young, but friendly enough. They have outdoor tables, and I sat at one with my pup, enjoying the gorgeous weather and my strawberry treat.
They also have smoothies — one of these days maybe I’ll give those a try. But I’m so addicted to yogurt as is … not sure I can stray. Prices aren’t cheap here (you can get a lot more for the same price at, say, My Yogurt Bliss), but they’re comparable to Yogurbella, also in the Grove.
Two froyo places within walking distance of my house — and two more just minutes away! Damn, I’m lucky. :) Who needs food when you have froyo?

Red Kiwi is delicious! I just came from getting yogurt for the family there, and the staff was excellent! Joey took great care of us, explained the flavors to us, and was extremely helpful!
Definitely going to go back very soon!
Plus they have curbside pick up, what more could you want!

I am sorely disappointed and unbelievably shamed when I brought an out-​of-​town friend to have some non-​fat goodness at Red Kiwi.
1. The guys working there that day were different from the usual punk-​looking-​but-​nice guys. the one making the yoghurt looked like he has been smoking and drinking all night and day (we were in there at 4pm on a Saturday!) My friend asked for a sample of the 4 flavors, the guy reluctantly churned out small samples and put it on the window display out of reach from my friend. The other guy (cashier) even made a comment of «how is she suppose to reach it if it’s here?» as he slid the samples closer to use.
2. The yoghurt were more like… sorbet, watery-icy…not the usual creamy goodness! I was so disappointed. :(I finally tried the original flavor… which tasted like any other regular yoghurt you buy at the store.
3. My friend got mango and mochi as toppings… and she had to pick out the mochi. as it was bad. According to her… it had the long-​frozen-​over taste and consistency. I had to try it to know. and have to agree. I ordered my usual nutella yoghurt with the cookies and almond bits… the toppings made the watery icy yoghurt edible.
4. What really disgusts me was… the hungover/​high guy allowed this chick from the store two doors down help herself to a huge ass serving of yoghurt! (I don’t know if they were friends or he was trying to impress her…) either way, it was just WRONG! She didn’t work there, she didn’t wear gloves, she didn’t pay… and she did this ALL in while there were customers in line!!! UGH!
If I really gave a s*** about this place, I would call the manager/​owner of this place and let him or her know what is going down. Tsktsk!
I probably won’t go back in… not for a long time, and not unless I got a sample of the day’s batch of yoghurt.

Sample the flavors before committing to a $ 7 yoghurt, I reckon the quality changes day to day.

This place is the devil. In a Good way. I admit to having the nutella over, and over, and over… and over again. Sooooo good. I’ve heard that there are other flavors but can’t resist the nutella. Parking is def an issue unless you live nearby. There is a parking lot on the same street but it is run by the parking gestapo most of the week, so good luck. Have not used the curb side pickup but it seams like a good idea. Who said «I am not cool enough to like this new trend in frozen yogurt»? Really? You are not cool enough to like something that makes sweet flavor love to your tongue? Then you don’t deserve to eat.

This place is just like Pinkberry in NYC. The yogurt style, and the smooth plastic chairs and white décor is pretty much, the same as PB, so I knew what I was getting into when I tried this place.
I have to agree with Carmen W. If you don’t like the tart frozen yogurt style, then simply go to TCBY or get soft serve ice cream. I love all soft serve equally, so this is just another style to like for me. For most, though, I think it might be something different to get used to. Maybe knowing that it will be tart, not a creamy sweet vanilla will help break you in when you try this place. That said, in my opinion, fruity toppings seem to go better with the original flavor.
I personally like the nutella flavored soft serve here, sans toppings. I don’t know how, but I was told a small cup of this is only 100 calories! Since we moved here a little over a week ago, my friends and I have come here enough to fill up one of those little punch cards and start a new one! The people here are really nice, and when we bring the dog along, they always bring out a water bowl for her!
I know there are other ice cream/​dessert places nearby, but I really like this place! And 100 cals? Guilt free dessert! So is it really that bad to put off trying others?

I’m not cool enough to like this new trend in frozen yogurt. I had never had frozen yogurt that tasted like plain yogurt without much sugar. Ack, it’s dessert people I need loads of sugar.

tastes pretty good. toppings are nice. I think it’s best compared to just frozen yogurt rather than the pinkberry style of fro-​yo. cold, smooth but on the sweeter side and less tangy. I wish they all wouldn’t copy each other’s store interiors… now that there are so many of these imitations popping up (another new one coming to the beach), I don’t think they can all make it with their limited flavors.
