Sully’s Detailing

I found Sully’s Detailing via Instagram and I’m glad i did. He did a wonderful job on my Black Lexus and making it look show room new again. He really knows his stuff and it shows in his work ethic. I’ll be back with my other cars and I’ll be telling my friends.

Had a full paint correction and CQuartz applied to the car. Came out looking better than the day I bought it!

I have worked with many of Miami’s and Atlanta’s top car detailers, and Shawn Sullivan is not the best, but is the best reasonable priced detailer. The only issue is he seems transactional, and so it is hard to have a comprehensive arrangement with him covering detailing and washing.
After my previous detailer moved back to Europe, my Lexus was beginning to get some swirl marks and fine scratches which really show up on the black paint. The local Swissvax certified detailers were quite pricey, so I turned once again to Autopia to find another detailer who has mastered the slow and painstaking art of paint correction and polishing.
This time I was on the lookout for a reasonably priced but high quality detailer and car wash specialist who also had experience with nano-​ceramic finishes like CQuartz. This technology is effectively better than wax because it coats your car in a small ceramic/​glass like layer which creates a slick reflective finish, but which is also hard and resists scratches better than a wax finish. It also lasts 1 – 2 years, vs. 2 months for a coat of Swissvax.
The car was looking a bit rough when I took it in, and for a very fair price, Shawn did a 90% paint correction (the slow process of polishing out any swirls and scratches through a couple of passes with a DA polisher), and then applying a coat of CQuartz to create a hard finish with a deep wet shine.
The car came back looking like new once again.
What I like about Shawn:
1) Superb work for the price. Not just on my car, but if you look at his portfolio you see a lot of before and after shots of how he has restored pretty rough looking cars to new. In the case of my car, he brought back the mirror like shine, and he also got rid of the wax build-​up in the small crevices which the previous swissvax detailer had not been able to get rid off. The attention to detail was truly distinctive for a $ 400 Platinum detail.
2) Experience with CQuartz. This product is much better value than waxing because they last longer. Many top detailers avoid this market because it hurts repeat business, but Shawn is both a quality detailer and experienced with these coatings.
3) Seems like a professional. My interactions with Shawn were very professional. He is very clear and precise in his description of his work and his pricing. He presented the car well explaining his work. He was punctual in returning the car. He wears a uniform. He has clean equipment and materials.
What Shawn could do better:
What hold’s back Shawn from the fifth star is Service:
1) Availability — it took me about 4 weeks to get a detail after he had to reschedule a couple of times.
2) Punctuality. Shawn cancelled my first two appointments with me at the last minute which was annoying.
3) Responsiveness. Not very good at answering the phone — you need to keep calling him.
4) Only does details, smaller jobs only happen if convenient to him. When I call Shawn for a car wash he usually doesn’t call back. He’s only interested in details. I think this is a mistake on his part because relationships are important to long-​term repeat business.
Bottom line — Shawn is a very good detailer for the price, and the only guy I know who does CQuartz. In terms of overall customer experience, and having someone who will wash and detail your car, you should go to Luxury Royal Detailing. Luxury Royal Detailing is more expensive, but provides a more consistent relationship.
