What a great place to eat! If you are looking for a nice Italian restaurant, you must give Penne Lane a try. We loved Strawberry Fields and now the same owners have moved up to Penne Lane. From the hostess, to our server, to the affordable food and a wide menu selection, everything was well above the ordinary. All the dishes are fresh made in house. Give this a try!

We have been there three times now. We went the second weekend they were open. It was chaos. Food was decent. I had the chicken parm. Went a few weeks later for pizza. Again food was decent service was lacking. Last time we were there the service was a bit better but by no means spectacular. My spaghetti and meatballs however were fantastic.

GOTOTHISPLACEITWASAMAZING. Me and my husband stopped by at around 7 pm or so on Saturday, May 28, 2016. The restaurant is a LOT bigger than it appears outside. Seating was immediate. While we don’t drink alcohol, the large bar appeared well stocked and polished. I ordered the«Pollo Carciofi» boneless chicken breast with HUGE artichoke hearts, sweet, sun-dried tomatoes, with a white wine and lemon sauce. Hubby had chicken parmesan which he orders everywhere. Both were incredible, and one thing I noticed is some restaurants bury their parmesan in cheese. Not here, while it has cheese, you can actually taste the sauce and chicken. Here’s the most important thing I want to make clear: the chicken breasts were perfectly trimmed pounded, and breaded. I can’t STANDIT when I take a bite out of chicken only to chew on sinewy connective tissue. Immediate blah/spit out/appetite killer. But NOT here. They took care to assure that didn’t happen. The dinner is served with soup and a side of pasta, which was also delicious(warning: our meat sauce had small fennel seeds for those who don’t like fennel) as well as warm bread with a separate saucers of olive oil/herb dip(or butter pats), as well as large delicious sesame breadsticks. Seriously, the sticks were great! Hubby had clam chowder that truly appeared homemade and my Italian wedding soup was perfect with large meatballs. For dessert, hubby had the bread pudding/vanilla ice cream(warning: EXTREMELY rich) and I had the tiramisu, also rich and incredible. Go, you will NOTBEDISAPPOINTED :-)

I am so happy I found this place. Best spaghetti sauce I have had in any restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Décor needs to be redone but I can look past that for the food. Wedding soup is homemade and was delicious. Side pasta was excellent. Salad was good and the entrée was amazing. The pollo porta Bella. Wow. Just wow

Great customer service, but i will not return. I ordered the scallops and for $ 20 i thought i would have gotten more than 3 small scallops. It did come with a small side dish of pasta, which was really good!!! This place is definitely in my opinion, not authentic Italian cuisine.

Came in for an early dinner and the place was pretty sparsely populated, but it allowed me to take in the décor and enjoy the ambiance. This is a quiet, Italian-American restaurant. I enjoyed the bread, with olive oil and spices and had the house salad prior to my entrée. The only complaint I had at this point was that the salad was overly dressed, but still tasted good. Dinner arrived shortly after finishing the salad and it was pretty average. The pasta was cooked well and the chicken was delicious but the sauce was quite runny and a little bland. I ordered the Capaletti Marco Polo. The waiter was wonderful and checked in on me regularly, ensuring that I was happy with my meal.(I didn’t share my disappointment with the sauce) It wasn’t anything to get overly excited about, but a place I would be willing to try again.

The portabella chicken is amazing, the walnuts and cranberries make the dish! Service was great as well, stopped in on a whim. I do not reccommend getting anything with their meat sauce, thats pretty horrible… it has zero flavor, my boyfriend got the veil ravioli and it was OK… again meat sauce is bad. We will be back though.

Kind of a mixed bag. There were 5 in our group and the main courses were all enjoyed. i had the prime rib and it was excellent. One of our group ordered the Carbonara. he ordered it without mushrooms. When it arrived with the evil fungus the waitress took it back and brought out a fresh one sans muschrooms, no problem. The sides were a different story. 2 of us had mashed potatoes mixed with cheese, rolled into a ball, covered in bread crumbs and baked. Sounded good but they didn’t have much taste. The green beans came with a sauce that was way too spicy hot. We tried the double order of Rosemary Skewered Shrimp. Found the shrimp to be over cooked and dry. Their pasta sauce is very good. If you don’t have a pasta dish you get a small side of penne with either meat or tomato sauce. Even though it wasn’t spectacular I will be back to try it again.

We’re back, and this time we brought friends with us. Once again, the service was Flawless, the food was impeccable, and there was even an accordion player! When’s the last time you were serenaded with an accordion? All in all a very memorable evening. My wife had the eggplant parmesan, I had the pasta Pollo mio modo(or something like that), the other couple tried the fettuccine Alfredo and the chicken parmesan. The house salads, as usual, were anything but a typical house salad, and were wonderful. Our entrees arrived promptly and piping hot, and for dessert we split a Tiramisu and cannoli between the four of us. Once again, Penne Lane has hit it out of the park!

Came here to celebrate our son’s birthday, at his request. The signage is terrible, and the visibility is poor. But what a gem. The food was amazing, with generous portions and reasonable prices. Service was also outstanding. Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

I decided to try out this new place recently after reading about it in the newspaper. I did not gather that the theme is «Beatles,» it is a Tuscan Theme. A photo or two of the band does not constitute for a theme. Second, the waiter was snippy from the beginning. Requested oliveoil with bread and he copped an attitude and said«well I WAS going to get to that part.» He did not know what kind of wine«Malbec» was. Education of wines for the staff would be beneficial. This is actually really important to be successful. I have worked at places that make you study the wine menu and learn the different types before being put on the floor to serve customers. One of the dishes we ordered was Eggplant Parmesan. The dinner salad that came with it did not have any of the toppings it should have come with and Veal Parmesan was brought out instead of eggplant. This is a problem if someone who ordered the eggplant cannot eat meat or beef and I do not eat Veal at all. Also, there was a weird after taste from the fried breading of both dishes, which makes me think that maybe the oil they are using should have been replaced and wasn’t. In addition, we asked for a side of vegetable instead of the potatoes when the dish was sent back for being wrong. The potatoes had a red sauce all over it and had no flavor. The second dish we ordered was the Fettuccine Alfredo and the pasta noodles were very mushy. I am unsure how the overall taste was since I did not try a bite. Disappointing experience from the misleading theme of the place, the poorly trained waitstaff, and a less than par meal. Hopefully they are working on fixing these new restaurant kinks.

Ok, so my man and I went here because I had an itch for Italian. I don’t usually want Italian because I always walk in with the intention of ordering something light and I inevitably end face down and muttering in a plate of lasagna. Not this time though. Yeah, the carpet and tablecloths are slightly 1970s cheap hotelish, but OMG the food more than makes up for it. When we got there it was 8:30ish Saturday night. The place was mostly full with a few empty tables and an ancient dude playing Italian tunes on an accordion which would normally make me bolt. However, woven between the carpet, the tablecloths and the deafening accordion music there was the aroma of something heavenly. So we stayed, and of course were seated in the booth RIGHTNEXTTO the accordion dude. He played well and the tunes were nice and for some inexplicable reason I liked it(insert kinda-embarrassed-to-admit-it emoji here). They brought out the menus and bread plate with oil dipping plate. Menu was not loaded with run of the mill stuff, there are some off the beaten path choices in all categories(pleasantly surprised emoji here). We hollared our order to our waitress over the accordion(did he have an invisible Marshall stack behind him, HOW could it reach such decibels?) and waited in amused anticipation for our salads. I ordered pollo porto bella, salad and meat sauce on my pasta side. The salads came. Mind you, these were JUSTTHESALADSTHATCAMEWITHDINNER. Tender spinach leaves, slivered sweet red onions, cherries, walnuts and creamy dreamy feta all coated perfectly with a brilliant vinaigrette dressing. I could eat this salad every day of my freaking life(smiling chick emoji here). Next up was our side pastas, I got the meat sauce, my man got alfredo. His won, creamy light with a hint of garlic, mine was good but my socks were not knocked off. Now comes our mains. Mine was two chicken breasts lightly coated and sautéed the sauce was flavorful without being overpowering the mushrooms were nice the cherries and hazelnuts tasted wonderful with the chicken. This is the first time I’ve had this dish and based on this visit I would not hesitate to order an unknown here. I would have reached across the table to nibble on my man’s carciofi but I was too busy attacking my food like lion eating a gazelle(fierce food hogging emoji here). Since the meal was superlative I wanted to end with some tiramisu and coffee. They were out of tiramisu(insert really disappointed emoji here). We split a cheese cake with some coffee as a consolation dessert. The cheesecake was really good, nice size piece and came with fresh fruit. I can not stand cloyingly sweet sugary canned fruit topping on cheesecake and theirs was blissfully devoid of same. The fresh strawberries were particularly delicious with the cheesecake. The coffee was epic. They HAD to be americanos and they came with candied sugar sticks. Oh my holy gershkins, I am in love with this place. So in short, I want the booth right next to the accordion dude every Saturday night, forever. Satisfied emoji.

Although I am giving 4 stars, my review is a mixed bag. We met some friends here Saturday night. I’m very leery of any place that has no wait at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Penne Lane has only been open for roughly two months, and there is practically no signage on Hall Road, so they are still trying to increase their customer base. I’ll probably be complaining about the long wait two months from now. We were seated immediately at a booth. My initial reaction to the décor was«UGH!» The carpet is a loud, dark pattern, the plastic table cloths are a different loud pattern, and the booths are a tacky red/white/green Italian flag design. Absolutely nothing matches and my eyes were practically bleeding from the clash of colors/designs. However, our friends didn’t seem to mind whatsoever so maybe I’m just being dramatic. The bread with olive oil and herbs was good and the cocktails had a generous pour, so I ignored the décor and settled in for some good food. I was afraid that the lobster bruschetta would have a skimpy portion of lobster. Boy was I wrong. It was downright amazing with a very generous portion of lobster claw. It was absolutely delicious and I would not hesitate to order it again. The house salad was also delicious and came with sliced almonds, feta, spinach(or spring mix) and a very good house balsamic. Our friend had the wedding soup and really enjoyed that. For our entrees, I had the double play pasta(I think that’s what it’s called). You pick two pastas and two sauces. That’s perfect for me because I can never decide. I enjoyed both pastas. My husband had their carbonara and loved every bite. My friend had the salmon. Although I normally dislike salmon, she made me take a bite and I loved the sauce! The service had a couple of glitches but that is to be expected while they are still getting their legs. Bottom line: Ignore the horrible décor and stay for the food.

So excited this place is here now! The food is amazing the homemade sauces were the best I’ve ever had! They also have a great lunch specials every day. The first time we ate here for lunch we wanted to come back for dinner. The Palomino sauce is very delicious. The service makes you feel like you’re one of the family. I can’t wait to try everything on the menu.

I love the concept, and for a new restaurant the service foibles were few: a forgotten drink special for v-day, forgetting the type of wine 1 person ordered. For appetizer we had the calamari. Main course was the Seafood Alfredo that was one of the specials for Valentine’s Day weekend, along with the Italian wedding soup. I loved the fresh sea food in the Alfredo! and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Areas for improvement are I think they may have added the pasta to my Alfredo sauce before letting them drain completely because the Alfredo sauce was quite watery. And the Calamari was lacking in seasoning, it needed just a pinch of salt as it came out of the fryer. 3 of the 4 people in our group felt their dishes were under seasoned.

Was there for a luncheon after a funeral. VERY disappointing. Service and staff VERY slow. I had the Chicken Parmesan, It was so salty I couldn’t even eat it. The meat sauce that was on the penne that came with it was mediocre at best. This is NOT a place I would reccomend if you want a delicious Italian meal.

Opening weekend, and while the wait was long and they were short staffed(I expected both — there always a bit of high turnover at the start of any business) the food made it worth it! We each ordered something different so we could try each other’s and everything was beyond delicious. They had an accordion player, who was kind enough to come over and play/sing a song for our toddler. I’m so happy I have leftovers for tomorrow — I just have to hide them from my husband! Haha. Oh — this is NOT a Beatles themes restaurant like some articles might suggest. This shouldn’t deter you from going though! All other Italian restaurants on Hall Rd will be shut down in a year!

For being«pre grand opening,» our meal went off without a hitch. The pastas are all made in house. My girlfriend had spaghetti and meatballs, which she said was the best she’s ever had. The pasta had just the right amount of chew, and the meatballs were perfectly tender. I had a tortellini in a garlic cream sauce. Although it was a little more buttery than I would have liked, it was still quite good. The scenery was excellent, and the tiramisu was great. Would go back again for sure! We loved that the owner came by and checked in several times too.

The food here is some of the best food I have ever had. I had the Salmon and it truly was the best I have had anywhere. Service was a little slow but they are a new restaurant and it was the pre grand opening. Dan was our server and he was super!!! We are already planning on going back next week with many friends.
