Stokes Tree Solutions

This has been by far the worst experience I’ve ever dealt with when it comes to a business. This company Stokes Tree Solutions had agreed on taking down large limbs off a few trees that were over hanging on my property line from my neighbor’s trees.
The owner– (Tom Stokes) gave me a contract that states the scope of work he was suppose to do. Having a written contract is absolutely necessary when working with any company. What happen was Tom came to my door and asked for payment after he supposedly finished. So I came out of my home to take a look at the work he and his crew did, and I’m not exaggerating he wasn’t even half way done with the scope of work that was on the contract. I couldn’t believe Tom tried to strong arm me by having me pay him for his unfinished work. He literally argued with me, and tried to reiterate the wording that was on his contract. His scheduling is ridiculous also… Tom would say he’ll be onsite in the afternoon to do the work, but shows up @ 6pm in the evening to do a 4 hour job… Knowing that the sun would set around 8pm that’s when Tom came to my door and said he was done. Clearly he wasn’t done… One of the trees he was working on had still two large limbs that were suppose to be removed, and another tree for him to say he was finished with was a disgrace. When Tom came to my doorstep demanding payment. He argued with me and then threatened to take me to court. I said, please finish the job per the written contract. Tom then demanded several more times payment from me or otherwise he’ll take me to court. I said, if you want to handle this in court then take me to court. Tom then storms off gets into his dump truck that had all the debris from the work he and his crew did. He then drives down the street makes a U-​turn, and then pulls up to the front of my house. He then backs up his dump truck nearly hitting my wife’s car and drives over the street curb, and then continues to back up his truck to the middle of my front yard, which then he dumps all of the grinds and large cut limbs onto my property lawn… After he dumps all of debris onto my lawn, he then slams on the gas which caused his dump truck tires to spin aggressively trying to gain traction which left massive skid marks from the middle of my lawn to the street curb, and then drives away.
I then had to call Fairfax County Police to let them know that Tom Stokes (again this is the «Owner») caused property damage to my lawn, and had dumped all of the debris that were on his truck onto my lawn. I’m now seeking to press charges for destruction of property, and hiring another company to remove all of the debris that Tom left in my yard, and also throughout the neighborhood. In the morning I discovered that Tom & his crew damaged my neighbor’s telephone lines as well. The telephone lines were literally hanging about 3 or 4 inches above the grass. The damage was caused from the limbs that were cut from above the tree that they were working on, and then dropped from above hitting the power lines and telephone lines on the way down. The debris that Tom littered throughout the neighborhood were large limbs at the front of my neighbor’s home, and all the way down to the top of the street @ the stop sign/​intersection.
This all could have been avoided if Tom was a professional by getting the job done correctly, or just take me to court as he threatened me several times that’s what he would do. I’m taking the time to write this review so that Tom does not try to continue to strong arm any other customers for his lack of work, and goes on a rampage like he did at my residence/​neighborhood.

Review is only for their ‘kiln-​dried firewood’, not their tree or landscaping services.
Owner advertises bug free, seasoned «kiln-​dried» oak firewood on craigslist. Our experience was not so good, the wood was very wet. Even with a very hot starter fire the logs would not catch fire, with water boiling out of the edges.

I had nothing but great service for tree trimming and great advice as to how to maintain the huge tree in my front yard. I just put in a request for additional work. My neighbor also used them and was very impressed.

I hired this service to prune the trees around my house. They did a good job, didn’t cut any power wire or anything. They give you a discount if you have a kid in Robinson high school. I recommend them.

They took down a tree from the neighbors yard which then fell into our backyard (a business) and then had the nerve to say we had to pay for tree removal!
Unreal.
Why would anyone ever take on a job that would have trees fall into someones elses property without their permission.
I would never recommend this place to anyone!
