Ordered take out twice — called the place around 6PM both times, and around 30 minutes before I actually went in to pick up. I had to wait 20 minutes in the restaurant to pick one entrée up. The best part was that there was a total of 6 – 10 people eating in both times, so it wasn’t even slammed. The kid running the place was arrogant about why I had to wait and gave me a whole lot of attitude — I should mention that he was clever enough to ring me out before he made me wait. Food tastes OK — the second star is for that. No more visiting this place again.

BESTNAAN in the Capital Region, and the butter chicken is amazing! My favorite place for Indian Buffet. The stuff on the menu is usually too spicy for me, but the buffet rocks.

Finding anywhere that delivers anything other than pizza is a rare treat, and despite being a little pricy we were excited to discover this little gem! The food is quite tasty, and the service very friendly and quick. I look forward to next time!

We are frequent visitors to the place… And having tried most of the Indian restaurants in the area I feel Kabab Masala serves the best Indian food. Went for Saturday night buffet and were simply delighted by every single dish. Feels like home cooked food. Simply Delicious!

Can’t believe I haven’t been here before! Excellent dinner buffet!!! I enjoyed sampling all the various dishes. This place would be packed if they served alcohol too!(For religious reasons alcohol is not sold.) Have a glass of wine/beer before you go. The food is totally worth it.

I got takeout from Kabab Masala last night. My friend and I ordered the chaat papri — delicious, love the fresh, bright flavors, and the crunch of the fried rice puffs. We got the chicken saag — so good, not too creamy, the flavors all worked together and the chicken was tender. We also got the chicken vindaloo, again, delicious. My only complaint was that I requested level 8 hotness and neither were very spicy. But they were very generous with the rice that came with each dish and we completely enjoyed our meal. For the three dishes as well as two order of naan, it came to about $ 36. Will be back!

OK for a quick week day lunch buffet. Nothing much to shout about, but lunch does keep me going so I only have a light dinner. The wait staff has changed a couple of times in less than one year!

Above average Indian buffet. We were there Sunday afternoon and paid $ 13.99 which got us access to Nihari Beef, a fragrant stew made with tender sirloin tips. This place has a way with carbohydrates: there were three excellent breads on offer as well as fresh and crunchy pakoras. There were salad greens but no dressing; I guess you are supposed to spoon on some of the yogurt raita. Also no soup. But this is offset by two desserts, the usual rice pudding plus a grain(a regular told us it was«wheatina») in a sweet syrup. When we first arrived the rice(a simple biryani as well as basmanti were available) was sparse and dried out which made us concerned, but it was quickly replaced. No other flawed or empty pans during the buffet, and the table service was quick and efficient.

Just not consistent. Sometimes it’s been good, other times less. I guess if you want to try it for the lunch special it’s good value. But personally it’s not for me. They try hard and the staff is friendly.

Sadly I have to lower my star rating. And I probably will not be returning here. I have enjoyed meals here– months ago. But two recent trips have proven very disappointing. Hard to believe you can have all these spices at your disposal and not give flavor to the food. I had to cover most everything on my plate with hot sauce and onion chutney to get some flavor. The lunch buffet is suffering from tea common issue– balancing the amount of food to put out. At 1p many things were ransacked and in the half hour I was eating very little was replenished. With more tasty options in nearly every direction it’s sad this place has resigned itself to this level of quality. No reason to return.

My husband and I came here for the dinner buffet last Friday. The atmosphere is non-existent, but I’m glad I didn’t let that scare me off. The food was amazing! The waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable about the buffet offerings. Just be careful when you leave your plate unattended to go up for more food — she cleared it :( The samosas were delicious, as was the cold chickpea dish in the beginning. It had lots of fresh veggies and cilantro in it. The butter chicken was great. There was a curried potato and cauliflower dish that was SO good. There was chicken sausage in with the tandoori chicken — very good. Chicken meatballs and dal, also delicious! The waitress also gave us a coupon for ordering online, and their takeout menu also has coupons on it. I have been craving their food ever since we went and can’t wait to go back!

Had dinner yesterday at kebab masala using a living social coupon. We ordered daal & malai kofta that came with naan/rice. We were very impatient waiting for food because we got there after we were stuck in a jam on 87 for two hours… so 20 – 25 minutes seemed like forever but the wait was worth it… everything was delicious & authentic. The hostess who was running the entire show was very nice and when she realized we were stuck in traffic, got us a complimentary garlic naan(bcz i asked her about it but never ordered). I will be back!

This review has been updated to reflect their horrible catering service. In May my wife and I decided to have a graduation party to celebrate the hard work both my wife and I put into obtaining our degrees. Every single dish that we had ordered was horrible. It was a shock to us because every time we had visited their onsite buffet, we were pleased. That’s why we chose to give our business to them. We were so disappointed because our get together celebration was ruined because of their subpar dishes. I would definitely not recommend catering from them unless they decide to change things.

Variety is lacking. Food tastes alright. I love the palak paneer they make. But that’s about it. I ts funny that they charge extra during the weekend buffets for no good reason. Most other restaurants have extra variety added to their buffets during the weekend. I also saw the lady bring in rice to the buffet table in a bowl with no gloves in. I wouldn’t come again. Its also ridiculous how they only keep one plate worth of biryaani in the buffet dish. Its as if they know no one is gonna eat it. The owner is nice and very friendly but I didn’t see him the last two times. I hear the manager has changed and so has the standards.

I must update my review which is solely for their catering service. We had a graduation party for myself and my husband as we had both worked so hard over the past 2 years to obtain our second degrees. The food we had ordered to have catered was a Gobhi manchurian dish, a paneer dish and a chicken kadai dish. We were very dissapointed in the quality of the food. I could not believe that this was the same restaurant! The food was terrible! The Manchurian dish had wayyyy too many whole coriander seeds in it(we thought they must’ve accidently spilled an open bag of whole coriander seeds in the dish and it was too tedious for them to fish out). Who puts whole coriander seeds in Manchurian??? And the paneer dish as well as the chicken dish were watered down. It was disgusting. This was a very special occasion for us and we were SOOOO dissapointed and upset with the quality of food we had received. It nearly ruined our special occasion. And ESPECIALLY since my husband and I consider ourselves to be foodies, this was almost an insult to us. All the other times we had visited Kabab Masala for their buffet, we were always pleased. That is why we exclusively chose to give our business to them. I just do not know how they messed up our catering order so terribly. Buffets at Kabab Masala are probably still the best desi food you can get in the Clifton Park area, but please do yourself a favor; do not cater from them(unless they decide to make some major changes). (P.S. I still hate you Shalimar of Clifton Park)

It has taken us about 10 months to get to Kabab Masala to try it out. The interior is relatively simple with dark wood furniture, minimal decorations, and spotless. They do not have a license for alcohol, so since it was cold and windy outside with a forecast for overnight frost warnings at the end of May, we started with hot Masala Tea($ 2.50/cup). I was expecting the tea to be much more spiced than it actually was. I don’t know if we would have received refills, since we were satisfied with just a single cup. For an appetizer we shared the Chaat Papri($ 4.95) which our very pleasant server agreed was large enough for two. Never having had this dish before, we did not know what to expect. The menu describes the ingredients as papri, chickpeas, potatoes, tomato, onion, and puffed rice with two kinds of chutney and fresh cilantro. Searching the web to find out what papri might be, we saw images of round, puffed crackers. While we didn’t find anything like that in this version, it was very flavorful with fresh ingredients. My wife chose the Chicken Tikka Masala($ 11.95), a dish that she has had elsewhere many times before. The dish seemed more spicy than she was expecting, which reminds me to alert you that there is no indication on the menu as to which dishes might be spicy, or if the spicing level can be adjusted to the customer’s preference. Overall, the flavors were good, but lacked that«WOW» experience. I chose the Karahi Lamb($ 11.95) since I don’t get to have lamb at home. It’s a combination of tomatoes, green chilies, crushed chilies, and dry coriander. The blend of flavors was excellent and the lamb was very tender and mild in flavor. Since the entrees came with a choice of rice or naan our server suggested that we try each and share. The rice was nice and fluffy and the naan was light and airy. Our server was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the dishes, even offering suggestions for our next visit.

I rarely dole out 5 stars — especially for an Indian/Pakistani restaurant — as I grew up eating that food. This is by far the most authentic Pakistani/Indian food in the capital district and at very reasonable prices. We especially like the butter chicken(kids fav), karahi chicken, and chicken biryani. With 2 entrees and 3 Nans + 1 biryani — our total was less than 40 $ — which is amazing for the quality of food that we were served. The taste is very authentic and preparation is fresh. Items are not prepared in advance like at most other places — even the Nans were better and more authentic.

After eating here multiple times, I can say that this is probably the best Indian food I’ve had living in the Capital Region. The buffet offers a good balance of vegetarian and non veg options. At buffet, you get your own naan! No community naan. This is naan that is buffet bar and you have to watch like a hawk to get a fresh piece or you are stuck with naan that’s been there for 10 – 15 minutes. Ahem, Shalimar and Jewel of India. Lunch buffet is daily and Dinner buffet is Friday-Sunday. When you order an entrée off the menu, you can choose naan or rice. The portions are similar to other places. It’s big enough that you will probably have leftovers. If the little ones aren’t fans of tandorri chicken, chicken tenders and fries are available. Yay! Save on a babysitter, everyone can go. Cons(but not enough to cry over): –Smaller /limited menu –No mulligatawny soup. –The space isn’t totally inviting. It just opened, so hopefully that changes. Besides, you are there to eat. Focus on the food.

My first visit to Kabab Masala was A-okay. ATMOSPHERE: This restaurant is kinda small and located in a strip mall complex. It’s not the most welcoming or warmest spot, but it’s usable. SERVICE: Our service was acceptable. Granted, we were one of two tables occupied that Saturday evening, so it’s not like our server was under considerable strain. FOOD: I really enjoyed my karahi chicken. That dark meat chicken had to have been the most well-spiced and moist chicken I’ve eaten. It was just spicy enough but not too much to overpower the flavor, and the portion was adequate. VALUE: Not bad but not outstanding. The prices are a little higher than Shalimar across town, but they’re not prohibitive. Overall, Kabab Masala offers delicious food at semi-reasonable prices.

Best Indian food in Clifton Park! We got take out and had the Butter Chicken and Matar Paneer, both were delicious. Apparently they have a lunch and dinner buffet which I will certainly be checking out. The prices are reasonable and the wait staff were very friendly. UPDATE: 9÷4÷14 — Went to the dinner buffet! Fantastic! Go go go!
