TJ’s Southern Gourmet

History

Established in 1990.

TJ’s Southern Gourmet has served southern food for over 30 years. TJ’s began as an outward expression of a mother’s love, for cooking and serving others.

With roots in Raleigh and Duram NC, TJ started with small beginnings in Brooklyn, NY after a few years Livingston street quickly became too small and TJ’s in the early 90’s crossed the bridge into Manhattan and made Chambers Street home for over fourteen years until the tragedy of 911. TJ’s found themselves right on the edge of what is now called «GROUND ZERO» a tragedy that shook the hearts and homes of our staff, customers, our community.

It wasn’t until 2013 after several persuasive conversations Theresa (mom) and, Tia (daughter) decided to cross the water once again to offer delicious home-​style favorites at their Cliffside Park, NJ location. Due to unfavorable lease negotiations we lost our lease. However, our passion for hosting customers is still strong and we look forward to inviting everyone to our new location soon
