Beautiful day in CLE. Sunny &71 degrees. The day started with a friend who suggested we grab a burger and eat outside at Dynamite Burger, toured the soon to be legendary downtown Heinen’s and sunned ourselves on-top the swank rooftop deck at The Metropolitan Hotel Azure Sun Lounge. Upon walking back to my Apt., we stumbled upon VIP. I’ve seen this new barber shop a couple of times and it reminded my of a cool NYC no frills old school Barber Shop in which resides the Owner/Barber/Stylist who knows he has talent. He does. 18 years of it. The outside and inside of the shop were adorned with old school Red, White and Blue Barber Poll Lights and retro barber chairs that are truly functional. Ask for the proprietor of this new Jem located on Euclid Ave. He uses a combo of electronic hair clippers and razor sharp scissors to create the most spot on men’s cut’s in the state of Ohio. When I lived in Los Angeles and NYC I would pay top dollar for a stylist with the confidence and talent he displayed. I showed him a picture of the cut I wanted and he knew exactly what do do, how to do it and when to stop. It was a pic of a classic, modern twist on the undercut. Trimmer on the sides, longer on the top, organic fading on the sides with an intentional side part. I did not want my sides trimmed high as I wanted to leave some length. No problem. When I suggested that we needed some music playing, he handed me his smartphone and I got to chose the station to listen to on his YouTube App. Good music, good vibes, great hair cut and a fair price. I’ve found a new barber. And he’s in my neighborhood. Great ending to a beautiful Day.
