Scotts Bicycle Centre was opened by Scott and Doreen Coulter the day after Thanksgiving (on November 24th) in 1978. Since immigrating to America in 1963, the hard-working couple had built up a number of bicycle shops in Connecticut before moving to the Promised Land (Cleveland, Tennessee). Fleeing the oppressive winters, and seeking a wholesome community in which to raise their family, Scott and Doreen always believed that God had led them to this tiny Tennessee town. Their oldest son, current shop owner Doug Coulter has over 34 years of experience and is the third generation bicycle shop owner in the family. Doug was just 13 years old in 1978, when he spent Thanksgiving Day with the family building bicycles so that the family business could open the next day. Though he is older now, he continues to deftly lead the family business through the many changes in the bicycle industry. Our shop was built on the principle of providing high quality products and service. We continue the fine tradition that Dad taught us and look forward to serving you.
