4⁄5 stars because I love dark chocolate, I know dark chocolate and I appreciate the darkest, purest dark chocolate when blended with exotic flavors like fruits, liqueur, oils and truffle assortments. I usually wouldn’t name drop in a review but locally Bissinger’s is still my #1. Kakao is a cute boutique space located in the heart of Clayton; don’t walk too fast or you’ll miss it. The décor was super inviting; as was the employee behind the beautiful glass counter. She was knowledgeable and extended an offering of the milk chocolate samples ontop of the display case… I passed; dark only for me but I appreciated the gesture. I took a short tour of the store; 4 sharp turns completed the journey. I grabbed a few dark chocolate barks and truffles, all of which were very tasty. There was a long dining table for groups in the center of the store and coffee on deck for the chocolate chaser.

Another overpriced location with the same lack of quality service. I suppose for those prices I want a rich, elegant experience. Major creep factor with a manager or owner too.

Words could not describe my excitement when I entered this store. I have a long standing love affair with chocolate from this place. The pates de fruits are delish! Tiny place, but insane amounts of flavors. Much smaller store than the one in Maplewood. Parking is a bit of a pain, but well worth it. On the same side as Pastaria.
