Walt’s Auto Service

My parents have been going to Walt’s since they moved to the Sacramento area in 1976. And in the almost 20 years that I have been driving, I’ve never taken my cars anywhere else. The guys at Walt’s are good and honest people. There is a very friendly feeling to the place, they are not the slimy, scamming type of mechanics that people dread dealing with. They always go the extra mile to make their customers comfortable, including giving you a lift home from the shop if you need one. Through many car repairs throughout the years, we have always felt that Rich, Rob, Mike, and Larry are all wonderful, trustworthy people. A few weeks ago, my 2005 Cavalier stalled out and died on me. Her problems ended up being severe, but Walt’s was beyond wonderful throughout the process. They were patient while we were deciding what to do and they were extremely generous with their time. They went above and beyond what I would have ever expected. I doubt I would ever receive such care and compassion anywhere else. I HIGHLY recommend Walt’s Auto Service to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, trustworthy mechanic who will treat them like a human being and not just a number in a queue or a cash cow!

Very happy with the overal service! Was well explained what needed to be done over the phone before I even got there. Had the car towed over and was done later that day… Price seemed very fair and work was quality. Very nice people to deal with unlike most shops that try to rip you off. Honest people and will be back again. (Hopefully not to soon)

I took my 2000 Dodge Ram into Walts because I had something wrong with my AC. They have taken care of me and my truck and didn’t just come after me for money. They truly looked out for me, we won’t go anywhere else!

Thorough, well explained service. They have TWICE fixed a problem other shops couldn’t diagnose. It is like going to a doctor for my car. It’s a drive from Northwest Antelope, but I will bring my cars nowhere else.

Had issues with my truck that, based on the symptoms, I thought would cost an arm and a leg. They fixed everything, and came in less than the estimate they provided! The employees and the owner were very pleasant to deal with, I will definitely be back!

Sorry i don’t trust them … Took my car in they fix the problem somewhat but messed up some belts and cooling system and do not want to take responsibility … Took my care to someone else to fix those problems this people had created for me at an additional cost of about 500

My wife and I have been going here for years and have always had good service. This has included everything from fixing brakes up to a transmission replacement (only 43K miles — never buy a Ford Taurus!). These guys do a great job keeping my cars running. I may not like the expense (who does?), but can’t complain about their knowledge and willingness to keep the price down.
I took my car in recently for a squeeky noise from the engine when it was cold. I thought it might be the idler pully for the belt. Turns out the pully was fine but the belt was cracked. However, the noise was actually coming from another part of the engine and by catching the worn part now, I saved myself from an expensive engine overhaul (again, never buy a Taurus!).
And I think the following is an indication of their ethics. No one is perfect and one time they messed up and didn’t do something. I forget exactly what the problem was, but when I noticed it and called them, they immediatly resolved it. That I remember! No whinning that it wasn’t their fault or failing to take responsibility. Nope, they admitted their error and fixed it without charging me. I wish more businesses had that attitude.
About the only work I have performed elsewhere are oil changes. It just doesn’t make sense to pay the going rate for a quality mechanic to do something as simple as this.
Seriously, I don’t know what the guy with the freon issue is talking about. In California, an auto repair shop has to provide an estimate before they start. Heck, it is even right there on the form one signs when you drop off the car. Do you really think a place in business for as long as these guys have been is going to risk a fine for $ 300? Use some common sense here folks.

I’ve taken my car into Walt’s auto a number of times. I trust in their ability to give me a good deal and find the parts I need. I went to them when I was getting ripped off at a number of other car places in the area (one off Swetzer in Loomis, one called Monroe Transmission in Loomis, and John’s Auto Care in Roseville too.
There have been times where my car’s parts had been discontinued and the auto shop would find the part for me.
I recently had a fuel line that broke in an area of the line where they couldn’t find the part, but were able to make a basic part work for the tubing so the car is now drivable again. Everyone knows how much it sucks to be without a car and needing to go to work or being stuck at home with kids.
