I was hesitant to come here at first because of the negative Unilocal reviews, but it’s close to my house and I just needed to smog one of my work trucks so I figured they couldn’t mess that up. Unfortunately my truck didn’t pass. They charge a diagnostic fee to find out what’s wrong, but if you fix it here they waive the charge, also they will retest it for free and guarantee it passes. So I decided to have them go ahead and diagnose the problem. When they told me what the problem was, I called the dealership and priced out the parts needed and how many hours of labor it would take and I found that the price they were giving me was fair. I could of probably taken it somewhere else and had it done a little cheaper, but would of had to pay them the diagnosis fee and for a new smog, so I decided that is wasn’t going to save me enough $ for the hassle of picking up the truck and taking it somewhere else. So, I had the truck fixed, it passed smog and I’m back on the road. I came back today with another truck to get smogged, so hopefully this one passes the first time!

. I went to the location listed below on April to get my Smog Certificate for the DMV, it was a quick and inexpensive trip, and in fact I never heard my car start up. It was recommended that I replace the transmission fluid because my car has high mileage and the fluid was dark and the valve gasket. I returned on May 2^nd 2015 to get the transmission fluid changed, I also got an oil change and a new air filter. The next day my car ran great, the next day the transmission was slipping and on the next day it wouldn’t shift at all. I called them to let them know of the problem, they asked me to bring my car back so they could look at it. I should mention that my car was running great BEFORE they «worked» on my transmission. I took my car back and was told I needed a new transmission, I asked them to explain, and it was working great before they worked on it. They told me my transmission was broken because I had a high mileage car and the fluid they changed was dark. This is the same reason they gave me when they suggested I have them work on it. They took no responsibility at all. They told me they would try to find a used transmission and would put it in for $ 1800.00. I would never have the same people that ruined my transmission put in a used one. I had my car towed to a reputable shop. They told me my transmission had been flushed and that is what ruined it, if they had drained the fluid and replaced it, my car would have been fine. I ended up having to pay $ 3054.00 to get a new transmission. I’m not a wealthy person; I work hard for my money. This is disgusting they are doing business like this. I wouldn’t suggest this shop even to my worst enemy. i wish i could leave a zero star or negative star rating.

I have 3 cars in my possession & they all have been «worked» on by this shop. My last visit was, to say the least, not so good.
I have this stuff building on my battery that I wanted cleared out. I first went to Pep Boys who said $ 20 but it would have been an 2hr wait. And for all I went thru, that 2hrs wouldnt have been so bad. So I head down the street to this Not-​So-​Purrfect place. I go inside & the older gentleman comes out & looks at the stuff on my battery. As plain as day he said its going to be $ 45. What!!! I figured since there wasnt a wait I regretably allowed him to perform the service. When I return to the lobby (or lack thereof), the man behind the counter wants my info. come to find out my name was mispelled so he couldnt find my info. He almost started to question the accuracy of the info I was giving him when it was his stupidity in misspelling my name as to why he couldnt find me in his system!
Anyways, the old guy comes in from the garage & says my battery is bad & now its $ 150.00 to fix it, FIX WHAT? I began to go off on this guy because EVERY single time I come here, he always the one to try to fadangle me into spending more, instead of doing the simple task of my request he feels its necessary to add all kinds of extra un needed crap. I said to him he has 5 secs to get my car out of that garage or Im not paying a dam thing, when I couldve spent $ 20 at Peps. After 10mins of me & my raised voice (I mean, LOUD, my voice echoed all the way across the street), the old guy just stands there & doesnt move an inch. That is until I screamed WTF are you standing there for, GET MY CAR!!!
So the other guy comes in like he cares, I know he doesnt because when the old guy goes in the garage he slams my car door shut. Rather than really «pay» him what I thought he deserves, Im looking for cash in my purse. Then the guy, not the old one, he starts to justify the $ 150…so I went in on him too. Look, should you feel I need extra work done, in the past mechanics would WRITE it on the invoice, not take the initiative to tell the customer how much it will be & make them feel like thats their only option.
Needless to say, they will never ever see another penny of mine, even though judging on their shop they definitely need it. Everyone I know knows not to bring they car here & I press this issue because my story is so similar w/​other Unilocalers story, in that they try to increase the cost after being quoted a price. They are modern day swindlers who to no avail, get by by either switching parts or switching the price. Either way, dont go here if you can help it.

My friend got a quote and was charged $ 39.99 for Smog Check. When we went back to ask what they charged her for, Jim, the repair man with no teeth said, «You are stupid and we will not give you free service.» I informed him that she paid for it already but didn’t receive the service. Jim and a bald man laughed at us while treating us like we aren’t women. If you want to waste your money and receive TERRIBLE Service then please go ahead.

I went in for a DMV smog inspection. Called ahead and they said come in now, no wait, it only takes likes 20 min.
Side note: I know NOTHING about cars. Nothing. I usually take my husband with me. You hear those stories about mechanics getting pushy with women and all that jazz, but today I decided. it’s a smog check. I got this!

I got there and the guy at the front counter was super pushy and just generally unfriendly. Bad sign. Should of left.
He said they would get my car on the machine in a couple minutes and that nobody was ahead of me. 20 min later they took my car back.
In the meantime, while in the waiting room, a customer came in to complain (loudly) about pricing being different than what he was quoted. Another red flag? Yes.
They take my car back and 5 min later come out and tell me that I need a new gas cap. My gas cap isn’t «sealing tightly» and it won’t pass smog unless I pay them $ 25 for a new one.
I tell them I’m going to call my husband (the whole thing seemed fishy to me) and he says, «you have like 5 minutes to decide. The smog machine has a time limit and if you don’t hit a certain key on the machine within the time frame it will just fail your car».
Now I’m just irritated. I asked him to just take my car off the machine and I’ll go somewhere else. Then he tells me if he takes my car off the machine once it’s started that’s an automatic smog fail. Wtf!
I don’t know how accurate any of this information is, but at this point I’m feeling bullied. He was talking to me like I was a 5 year old, like I’m an idiot because I don’t have a vast array of smog machine knowledge. Just being rude.
End result = I pay the jerk $ 25 for a gas cap I could of bought at Pep Boys for $ 10, they finish the smog, it passes and I will NEVER go back.

When I walked in, I had a glimmer of hope that this particular Purrfect Auto wouldn’t be as bad as the others in Sacramento. The mechanic helping me seemed professional. I was just getting an oil change, so I walked to the 99-​cent store to pass the time.
When I got back a half hour later, I was informed that (contrary to what the mechanic’s computer said) they did not have the necessary oil filter and had to run to the store to pick it up. He told me that it would only be ten more minutes. However, it actually took an extra half hour, because he also lost the clipboard with my information on it and had to get it again. I am not likely to be back.

I have been going to this repair shop for about 3 years now. I have only had one major repair there, but felt that their service was excellent. I have never had anyone push repairs on me. I have never waited over an hour for an oil change.

I have to give them 1 because I cannot give them blank. They advertise for very good price, but when you get there the service you receive is the worst ever.
I waited for 3 hours the first time. They kept telling me they will be done in 20 minutes. After three hours, they changed my oil. It was not big job, just a freaking oil change.
So I gave them second chance. I had to work, so I someone else took my car. I didn’t tell him my first experience. He came back furious. He told me they kept telling him «it will take only 45 minutes» it took them 2 hours to do the job. I complained on their website for the second time, but those fools don’t even respond. May be they are still logging in to their email.
I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go to this place. I will make sure everyone else hears my experience before they go.

I guess I’m really going against the grain here! Either way it’s important to note that this is a review based on my oil changes. My friend used to come here and get the $ 14 special and I currently bring on my own Synthetic Oil and filter. They charge me $ 12 for this type, which is a good deal these days.
Just be warned that this place can get busy, but they never make a promise they can’t keep. If they tell you it will be ready in two hours, it will probably finish at that time but sooner. This has only happened once though, usually my oil changes take around 30 minutes. The staff is always friendly, and contrary to what other people say, they don’t aggressively sell me other stuff.

Do not take your car to this chain of repair shops! They are professional con artists. They charged my boyfriend for a $ 1000 worth of work that they didn’t do. Once my boyfriend challenged them on the work the guy in charge of servicing the automobile was suddenly «fired» and no one would return calls or take accountability.
He has since filled a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair only to discover that they have a long history of complaints against Purrfect Auto. Apparently they specialize in working on a cash basis with minimal documentation and receipts to avoid getting shut down altogether.
Do yourself a favor and avoid them at all costs.

I had a good experience last Saturday there. I wanted to give them a 2 ½ star but you can’t do that yet ;0) anyhow, they did my timing belt but the one they had their was $ 89.99 for the part, they guy at the counter said to go to Napa they have one for $ 29.99 & they’ll put it in. they did the service for $ 60 bucks an quick. Their was a guy in their with a bucket complaining that they didn’t find out every thing that was wrong. he also complained about the mechanic telling him to sell the car to pick n pull. he said they guy should just fix it not talk bad about his car lmao.

Know about this place for years. use to take my Jetta here for oil changes back in ’03. Several months back, after using up my prepaid service at Toyota, I decided to get my 90k tuneup service done here. For the same list of things that needed to be done compared to the dealership, it saved me almost $ 200 getting the service done here. I’m not dissing Toyota but the truth is, I’ve been ripped off going to Toyota. Anyways, look out for the coupon in the mail, every Wed in the Pennysaver! I just got my oil change done two days ago, with the coupon I paid a little over $ 16. I had to wait for 2 hrs for the oil change, but it didn’t bother me much since I wasn’t in a rush. Small waiting area but they always have a movie on to watch. Or you can bring a good book to enjoy like I did. Guys behind the counter are usually very helpful too with your concerns.

i had came in to have my oil changed and a tune up. i asked questions about why the spark plugs were so expensive and they told me it was for the platnum ones. i said ok cuz i dont know anything about it. they told me it would take an hour. meanwhile i go over next door to kill time at napa auto parts. i asked them about why i needed platnum spark plugs and they told me my car would run hot with those. so i came back an hour later and my car had been untouched. i asked for my keys after i asked them how much longer and left.
so not only are they dishonest, but they are very slow and rude
