Harley Haslem is hands down the most talented and amazing tattoo artist I have been too. He is very detailed with his work and always checks on you to see if you’re okay while he does the tattoo. I asked him to do a piece with a picture of my grandma in it when she was younger and he did a fantastic job recreating her, I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Next time I want another tattoo I will definitely be paying Harley a visit.

The best tattoo parlor I’ve ever been to! They feel like family and are always welcoming. I love this place. Every artist is very skilled and they will recommend another artist in the shop if they feel that the other one is better at a particular style you are looking for. Very great customer service and interaction. They make you feel like friends more than clients.

Harley Haslem inked my first tattoo last month. I LOVE it! I had been looking at tattoos and different artists for over a year. my friends tattoo is gorgeous… looks like it was done yesterday-​its 11 years old. She told me about her tattoo artist Harley at Imperious Rex. Although i wasn’t sure exactly what i wanted… Harley was super low key and patient… he spoke with me for a bit… i showed him pictures of what i liked. the tattoo he designed and drew on my back. everything i wanted and more. After just meeting me. he came up with a piece of artwork that i am so excited to show off. He really got me. He is an extremely talented artist. I liked that he paid close attention to the smallest details of what i liked and included them in my tattoo. Harley was very kind and really cared about my comfort during the 2 hours. The shop was extremely clean and organized… artwork by the different tattoo artists is displayed on the walls. great atmosphere.amazing art… I will definitely be back to see Harley!

Their artist Harley who may also be the owner of this place or definitely acts like it. Gets a zero star. Not for his work but for his (work ethics,) his attitude, customer service and overall business sense. Let me clarify:
I gave my 100 dollar deposit for a job that they quoted me around four hundred fifty bucks. Fair enough. It’s big, detailed, color and you get what you pay for in which I was happy in doing my homework on Harley.
I told him that this is my first tattoo. So as you can see I was a bit nervous and totally new to this whole experience. I noticed him giving me weird a look as to why the heck I came in w a blanket and pillow. Lol I’m an old dude w a bad back and staying put for four hrs straight isn’t something I do everyday.
So I take off my flip flop and put my barefoot on his chair to show where and how big I want the tattoo to be… I didn’t even get a chance to finish my sentence when he snapped at me:
DON’T PUT YOUR FOOT ON MY CHAIR MAN!!!
WHOA!!! I swear those were his EXACT words. I was totally caught off guard moved my foot and apologized. He then gets his windex bottle, sprays his chair and wipes it clean w a paper towel.
Hmmm… Who does that you guys? And who talks like that to a customer??? You mean to tell me this guy never put his butt on the ground? He never ever sat on the grass, dirt, or leaned against a dusty car? I swear I didn’t have mud on my feet. I bit my tongue and didn’t say anything.
Apparently my girlfriend told me most of the things I said annoyed him. Cause he was always giving me dirty looks, rolling his eyes, and looking across the room at his other tattoo buddy. I guess he thought my girlfriend is blind, deaf or retarded and won’t notice it.
I was done in 3 and a half hrs and freaking LOOOOVED the tattoo. I even tipped him 50 bucks. Which came to 500 bucks even. I get home. Show off my first tattoo on my fb page and mention who was the guy that did it. Someone from my friends list knew him and said: Oh ya. That’s Harley Haslem. He’s amazing and tagged me his name.
I requested him. He accepted and I showed my (initial) five star review on Unilocal to which he thanked me for it.
Now, after a few days the itching started. I messaged him on fb and asked what to do or use, and when can I start working out again? Was concerned about my salty sweat making it burn and all.
Harley reads my msge but doesnt say nothing. I waited 3 days and finally said: This is my first tat and almost everyone said to NOT itch it. I was gonna take ur advice but I guess I’ll call the shop. I call the shop and noticed they don’t open til 12 noon. He finally gets back to me and says he rarely goes on fb and to call the shop for future questions.
So I tipped you 50 bucks, I thought five star review was nice and the fact that I’m his friend on fb should be cool w him. Right? WRONG. LOL
After 2 weeks I message him that I want some part of it a re-​touch. Does he wanna do it or should I ask for someome else? As you guessed it. He has time to READ my message but that’s about it.
I am supposed to be an awesome mind reader on TOP of a good tipper. So that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back.
Look, I didn’t expect this guy to become my BFF over one tattoo, 50 bucks or a good review. But I think some of you see where I’m coming from! I already was impressed by his work. Loved my tattoo. But his weird demeanor totally turned me off.
Oh. I almost left out this juicy part: After we were all done, I asked what should I take for pain? With a smirk on his face he says. NOTHING. It’s not as if I broke your leg or anything. Shakin my head. How wussy of me to even ask. At the end he said, ok man. Now you can move back out.
Conclusion: You just don’t diss, insult, or make smart ass remarks like that to someone who was already happy with your work, raved about you, tipped you, and was WILLING to pay you again for a re-​touch job (Found out those are actually FREE).
NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. Harley Haslem is a major prick.

I went and got a tattoo from Aaron before the old shop closed and when Friday the 13^th rolled around I thought I’d pay him a visit and I wasn’t disappointed. He remembered me even though it had been like 3 years ago and I’m sure he’s done thousands of tattoos since. But he’s an amazing artist and a really all around nice guy. He’ll be where I’ll be going to get my sleeve and more.

I love Imperious Rex, Aaron did my tattoo and I love it! He is great at what he does and he actually tattoos a good number of my friends as well!
Jesso that works in there does great work too– I haven’t personally booked her but I’ve seen her work and she does great pinup work so I booked my BF with her ;)
Everyone in the shop is super cool and professional, they are fun as well ;)

This review should have been posted quite a while ago so I apologize. I chose Jesso Lange as a tattoo artist because I love her feminine style. I presented a vague idea to her and entrusted her with the details. I was overjoyed at the end result. She is a beautiful person and it shines through in her art. She is thoughtful and a true pleasure to be tattoo’d by. Although she is often booked a while in advance she is well worth the wait.
I have been to a handful of shops to receive tattoos over the years and this is by far the cleanest and most professional I have ever been to. The lovely ladies who work reception are the most kind and courteous I have ever encountered at a tattoo shop. I highly recommend Jesso and this shop!

I am very happy with my new tattoo!!!

Just got my second tattoo a few days ago from Pat. He did an AMAZING job. He was very nice, very willing to answer questions, and was very skilled when it came to giving me the tattoo. Overall he’s a very sweet guy who I recommend going to. My tattoo is healing well, so far no complications. I’m very pleased!
As for the rest of the shop-​it was very, very clean, everyone was very nice and very willing to help you out if you had any questions. I LOVE that they had a TV playing a movie while you’re in there. It helps distract you from the pain of getting a tattoo-​it also just contributed to the fun, friendly vibe of the whole place.
Definitely recommend! Will go back if I ever have another tattoo idea and remember to tip well.

Interested in a good tattoo? This is the place. Harley is so incredible. I have even purchased some of his paintings and art work along with tattoos. Clean, friendly, upbeat and tons of laughs, along with amazing artists. Everyone here is welcoming and excellent artist.

If you don’t know Jesso Lange, you should. She is an incredible fine artist and my review of her shop is long overdue. I was happy to drive from the OC to the Sacramento Area several times over the period of one year to complete my chest piece — which is an absolute masterpiece. Everyone tattoist in her shop is friendly, accomodating, and art-​first. Check out the portfolios. The work of the artists in this shop speaks for itself. Highly recommended.

Great atmosphere, professional and most importantly it is super clean!
I went in to schedule a consultation and things went beyond perfect. The portfolios of all the artists are amazing, I could’ve went with any one and been happy but they picked Pat based on the artwork.
I met with Pat the next day and put an $ 80 deposit towards my tattoo and waiting for the drawing still. Everything is on track and ready to get done once I stick to a schedule. I’ve had to reschedule two times now to be financially secure since quality isn’t cheap. They were more than friendly enough to assist me during the process so far. Very nice staff, the girl on the phone is super sweet! Keep in mind though I rescheduled with a week in advanced so they had time to work around it. I can’t wait to get this all done. I’ll be back once I get it completed.

Harley is the absolute best artist to ever work with me. He has a laid back personality that really puts the customer at ease. I will keep going back!

My friend and I were looking for a walk in place to get our tattoos on MLK Monday and we stumbled upon Imperious Rex. Phoned in and spoke to Pat, he told us they were booked for the day but we should come in anyway to chat with him about what we wanted. Our consultation took about half an hour where we discussed what we wanted, where we wanted it and he offered produce a few different sketches and versions of what we wanted. He scheduled us to come back on Wednesday night at 7:30 and assured us he would take as long as needed to make sure we were happy. As this was my first tattoo, I was a nervous wreck coming in, after seeing the sketches and finally settling on our design I couldn’t be happier we found this parlor and Pat. He is the most patient, friendly and so easy to work with. We must’ve changed our design 10+ times and he was more than pleasant to accommodate us. The both of us finished a little after 10pm and cannot be happier with the outcome. I definitely plan on coming back and working with Pat.

My artist is Jesso Lange and she is not only the owner but the most bad ass tattoo artist in sacramento! If you want a tattoo where everyone will stop you to talk about how amazing it is the see JESSO! Or anyone else on the shop. this is hands down the best shop in NorCal. The shop is clean everyone is nice and you really become part of the family when you get tattooed. All the artists care about their clients and make sure you walk out with amazing artwork!

This place is amazing and all artists are the best artists around, but this review is specifically for Aaron Odell.
Aaron has a way with ink. He’s insightful and creative which makes him even more amazing. Whether you have a simple request or you’ve dreamt of a unique detailed tattoo, Aaron is your man! I will not go anywhere else. Shop is clean, friendly and welcoming.

The shop is beautiful & unique; the décor is not exactly what you would expect from a tattoo shop. The dining table with the portfolios is a fun addition to the lounge & I love that you can see all of the artists’ artwork displayed around the shop as well as the artwork they’re working on in the front of the shop. It seems like you can’t go wrong with any artist you c check choose but I’ve seen Brandon, Jesso & Pat’s work over the past 10 years or so & they all do amazing work again & again.

This new shop is beautiful!
The ceilings have a very elegant look to them, reminds me of the ceiling at the fox theater in Oakland. The walls are decorated with amazing artwork and the shop has an overall chill vibe.
One if the nicest shops I’ve seen in the area.

They all do fantastic art and you can tell they love what they do.
I had the privilege to be tattoo by jesso. Shes seriously amazing! She was quick, but also didn’t rush anything. Shes friendly and thats exactly what i wanted in an artist. We talked the whole session (only took an hour) and that made me feel at ease.
I will recommend her and this shop to everybody who’s looking to get a new tattoo!

I began seeing Jesso before she opened Imperious Rex and was really excited to see how this new shop was coming together. Had an appointment today and I have to say, this shop looks awesome! From the floor to ceiling, front of the house to the bathroom, there are little details and touches they’ve thought of and beautiful artwork everywhere.
Each of the artists’ is friendly and approachable, the vibe is relaxed and down to earth and the place is brimming with talent. They each take their art seriously, but not in a stuck up way, like some shops can be.
I really love Jesso and her work. Today was a rough day for me, pain-​wise, and she was very patient and accommodating. She doesn’t rush you, but works quickly and is very thoughtful of how her art comes together. If you’re looking for an artist, you have to check her out. She is very busy, but so worth the wait.
