Ok Here I go again. I have scaled back my purchases with Salvation Army due to over pricing but most of all the Manager Jauna. I really enjoy the smiles and sincerity of Darnell and Wendy. But when Jauna is on site she is a real buzz kill. I went on Monday because they have 75% off some items. Well guess what! There is an antique dresser she had marked for $ 599.00. I ask if was half off on that day. I was told no. You can wait until it is 10 days old and get 75% off. When I went back to check on that same dresser, there was a new price and a new date? I thought ok be cool about it. I will still look around. I did find some dish towels etc. As I was trying to complete my purchase with a new worker I do not know her name, a young man kept asking another male worker near the register to show him watches behind the case. The girl would stop working with me to «give a price» on the items. The customer said he would take the watch. He handed the half price cost of the watch ($ 7.50) IN CASH to the female saying” here you go I do not have time to stand in this line” and he left. This is wrong on so many levels. It said to the rest of us customers that our time is worth nothing. AND will that money go in the register? This is against any other retail establishment’s policy right? I was buying a picture that was $ 40.00 I ask her if she could lower the price as there was a crack in the glass. She said: Sorry I can not in charge of pricing. Helloooo! She just pulled a price out of the air on that watch that she took cash for. Now it did not stop there. You are not permitted to take carts out. I get that part. But I was struggling with my large picture so I had to leave my other stuff in the cart near the door. I put the picture in my car near by and I can see shoppers going through my purchases and laying them on a nearby sofa. I was hot. I took the item out of the woman’s hand and said: Do you people mind? This is my cart and all of this stuff was in bags! There was a man there who started scolding me for how I was talking to his wife. And there stands the two workers at the register giggling. I said to them thanks. You stood there and let people take my stuff. She said: (we did not see anything.) They are very poor at their job. Their attitude sucks. If Darnell was there, he would have offered to help you out to your car. Not allowed customer to interrupt them while trying to complete transactions or accept cash with no receipt! Try dealing with this and all you hear in the background is Jauna screaming at staff hurry up! Hurry Hurry.
Ughhh.

This used to be a great place to find good used items at good prices. Under the new manager though it has all changed. $ 300.00 firm for a donated dresser? $ 699.00 for a cabinet with a missing handle? No offers on overpriced items! These are not new! Did Haggens purchase this also? The manager is not a nice, friendly person, but the employees are very nice and friendly.

Really beat up second hand items at unbelievably ridiculously high prices. Skip this place.

This Salvation Army location is split into two stores — one that sells clothing, and the other across the parking lot that sells furniture, household items, and trinkets. Definitely worth a look, especially since there seems to be great sales on already awesome prices. Everything was 50% on the Saturday that I went! Lots of clothing to choose from and I found some great stuff for work. As for the household section (called the Family store), I found a few items for sprucing up my home. Not the greatest selection, but again, 50% off. So, really, no complaints here!

Just found awesome vests for burning man!!! Wahoo!
They had a great selection and mix of vintage and modern. I found rocky shorts with all of the tags on them for $ 6. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I shop here daily! I find the best stuff to resell. I love the workers here. Super friendly. Wendi, Sara, Joel, Aaron, Gonzalo just to name a few. Darnell has moved to the sports arena location but he was my favorite and i visit him there. I shop all your SD stores. Great employee and very kind. I love this place. I do have a complaint though. Please stop using magic markers to write in the prices on items. You ruin the items. There are other ways to keep the prices on. I am always baffled at this so called solution you have come up with for pricing. I spend hundreds of dollars in here and would spend lots more if I knew I wasn’t gonna be buying a item that was ruined with black magic markers that does NOT come out of wood, plastic, porcelain, fabric. Horrible practice and just down right lazy.

I checked out both AMVETS and the Salvation Army to pick up my donated items. 1−800-SA-TRUCK won as they would actually come inside to pick up a treadmill and other items that I could not manage. Not to mention that the HOA rules would not allow me to have things outside waiting that long. They took everything I asked except for a metal filing cabinet, for some reason. But I am so grateful to be less cluttered and someone else can benefit from what I can no longer use. Blessings to the Salvation Army team who do so much good for our community!

I visit this place at least once a week ! I always find all kinds of things ! Some of the workers are rude but others are nice. I love shopping here because I can spend $ 20 on multiple things instead of going to the mall and spend $ 20 on one item !

I am commenting on behalf of their delivery/​pick-​up service on April 7^th, 2014. I wrote an email telling them not to come during the mornings because I wouldn’t be home and will be available after noon. They came around 2 PM and complained to me why I wasn’t here at 9:40 AM and 11 AM. I had donated them a bedroom set which included a dresser, headboard, armoire, lamp stand, and 2 night stands.
One mover was friendly and hardworking, the other mover asked me if he could have a drink preferably a beer. I offered him a glass of water with ice, and he said, «nah bro, I need a beer. I’m tired, I came here twice this morning and you weren’t here. It’s hot outside and I just want to go home». I even showed him a copy of a receipt that the other guy gave to me specifying the hours. The guy said, «I am tired. Both of my back and feet hurt». Once he was done, he lit a cigarette outside of my home. I had to ask him to leave and threatened to call the police.

It’s expensive. Walmart has it cheaper and new.
I went there trying to save some $$$ but ended up shopping at walmart.
They were asking $ 9.99 for a cake dome, I got it for $ 6 at walmart.
I think they need a reality check.

This is by far my favorite thrift store. I’ve found great things there. The books are 5 for $ 1 and they have a great selection of them. I got a wooden cat statue that is gorgeous, in perfect condition and it matches my bedroom décor. And it was only $ 5! I also purchased a solid wood desk (hard to find in furniture stores these days!) and it had an $ 80 price tag. Well after I asked if I could have it for less, the employee gave it to me for $ 40! They even helped me load it into my car. After a sanding, new paint, and new knobs, it looks like new!

I go thrifting about once maybe twice a week. I frequent this Salvation Army more than any other thrift store in San Diego. Mainly because it’s 10 minutes from where I live and access to it super convenient.
Pros:
— Parking is not usually a problem, they have additional parking past the two buildings.
— It’s a pretty big thrift store, they have the furniture, knick knacks, and books in one building. The clothes, shoes, and accessories are in the other.
— They cycle pretty frequently through their clothes, however, the good things go quick, so that’s why I visit once a week. :)
— Layout is good enough to maneuver around and get to what you’re looking for.
— Pricing is pretty steep sometimes, HOWEVER, they have the best discounts ever! 50% and 75% maybe once or twice a week, sometimes the discounts will only be on items that have been on the racks for ten days or more, so you have to pay attention to the dates, but I discount is a discount. Last November they had a calendar so you could know what days to come in. I’ve gotten dresses as low as $ 3.50. :)
Cons:
— First things first! Customer Service is soooo rough on the clothing side. I don’t know why, but the ladies on that side aren’t friendly to me at all. And I’m not a rude thrifter! I’ve worked retail and I’ve been conditioned to be a cordial shopper, however, I have to say that my experience with them hasn’t been good in this area. Maybe they don’t like me, which is fine, but when I’m inquiring about making purchases, regardless of being a thrift store and not a regular retail store, there should still be some guidelines to good customer service. (Minus one star)
— Only sometimes is there a mothy smell, but not too unbearable.
— Shoe selection in the clothing building is bare minimum, but they have a wider selection over in the furniture side (I don’t know why they did this?)
So yes, I still love this thrift store, and I almost ALWAYS get compliments on the clothes/​treasures that I find here.

Came in the other day and the smell was just horrendous. (Sorry but it was). There was a sale for a % off of stuff but you had to count from the date marked on the tag. I realize that this is a thrift store but I just do not want to think that much to purchase something. I doubt that I will return here.

I always find awesome clothes here and sunglasses. The prices are fairly cheap and if you look hard enough you can stumble upon amazing designer items. I found a pair of ray bans for $ 5. What a steal!
Typically, every day they have additional saving by having all the items in the store for 50% off.

I have been here to donate 2 times and each time it was quick and easy. Just pull up to the trailer and give them your donations and receive a receipt.

Amazing! Went thrifting today and they were having 50% off the whole store! I also found a lot of cute things to buy for once including jeans (so hard to find myself pairs that fit).

Just happened to come here when they were having a 50% sale on everything in the store! Stores are nicely organized (yes stores — plural). They have two buildings with mostly clothing in the one store and furniture and bric a brac in the other store. Staff were friendly and welcomed us when we walked in. Wow, that was unexpected. Cashier made a mistake by not charging me for an item and I gave him every opportunity to charge me for it, but he said it was his mistake and not to worry about it. Wow I was kind of surprised! Would want to go back here with this type of service.

There are a couple of thrift stores on Broadway in Chula Vista, if you start on the north side this is where you would start.
The store is pretty organized, but its also pretty small. Also there is a large clothing selection and a nice little side area with the better stuff.
Its definitely not the best but you never know what you will find

Was doing a massive spring cleaning in the apartment and had some items that needed to be discarded. Instead of throwing those things away I thought I would do a good deed and make a donation to the nearest Salvation Army Thrift Store.
After dropping off my wares in the back, I took a stroll inside the store to see if I could spot anything of interest. They had a so-​so inventory of clothes, cookware, and books. Some furniture was also avalible for sale but most of these items were overpriced for the condition they were in. My wife, however scored on a black leather loveseat that was in near perfect condition for only a mere $ 69!
We do not own a pick up truck and I was wondering out loud on how I was going to get my wife’s purchase home when the cashier suggested that she knew someone with a pick up truck who would be willing to transport the item for a reasonable fee. She put us in touch with a gentleman who not only picked up our purchased and dropped it off at our home, but then took the time to help me carry the loveseat inside into the living room! To top it all off he only charged me $ 25 for the move! Sweet! Cheaper than a U-​Haul rental! Not only did he save me money but also my back!
The verdict: Not the largest selection or inventory at this location but the customer service I recieved here was outstanding and they helped me solve a problem! For that reason they get 4 stars.
