History

Established in 1985.

Previously located in National City, Southbay Motorsports was a facility built specifically for the motorsports industry. After more than twenty years, we outgrew the small business location and searched for a larger facility. From the ground up, a new facility was built in San Diego’s latest automotive shopping center: Auto Park Place in Chula Vista. The new facility was designed to be state of the art for the motorsports industry. Now, with over ten manufacturers, Southbay Motorsports is one of the largest motorsports facilities in southern California.

Jason has been the representative of Southbay Motorsports in online presence since 2007. He has been the immediate contact in all social media websites and via our website, as well as various contests held in store. Possibly considered the online «face» of the store, his experience in social media management, advertising, and customer service has benefited the company in keeping a positive and caring presentation to its name.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was planning to go to soutbay motorsport because i heard nothing but good things about them. I called the parts department to see if they had some parts in stock that I needed, got put on hold and then they finally picked up again and said «he was busy and if I can take your name and number I’ll give you a call back and let you know if we have the parts in stock.» We’ll it’s been over 2 HOURS now and I still didn’t get a call back and ended up buying my parts somewhere else.

Great place and friendly people. I always get greeted on a first name basis. They have just about every make of motorcycle in one large location. I deal with Ted all the time and he’s great to work with. I have bought bikes from them and had them sell two of my bikes as well. Having them sell my bikes were much easier than Craigslist. Even after trying myself for months they have sold both of my bikes within a month and got me exactly what i wanted for them. If you are looking for a deal go down and ask for Ted. He will take care of you. They have tons of gear as well in stock. They carry the brands i love like Dainese and Sidi.

Got a GREAT deal on my quad and my sales guy was super cool!!! The follow up experience was a little rough in the beginning with their staff as I got transferred around a bunch but Mike the manager went above and beyond to make it right. Mike was the BEST!

Excellent service excellent communication one of our jetski was having problems starting spoke to a service person named Ronnie brought it there got me in right away fixed the problem wished I would of bought the jet skis from them instead of the one up north they are so friendly and professional gave me advice on a couple of things the other store never told me

I have been buying bikes here since I was 8. Back before this new incredible building of theirs. Nothing has changed, they are without doubt the best shop in San Diego. All the employees are extremely helpful and the sales men are not at all pushy like at other dealerships (cough cough FBC). Buy from South Bay you won’t regret it!

Never say never! This would be the second review that I write. Im my first review I gave them one star and said I would never bring my bike back to south bay. Without getting into too much detail let’s Just say that you cant blame the whole establishment for the actions of one employee. After getting a full-​service done on my Kawasaki zx10 I took it back because the bike was running rough. I was greeted by an employee that wasn’t willing to help me and turned me away. A few days later to my surprise I get a call from Mike proo from the service department and said he had read my review and wanted to help. He also said that the employee that turned me away that day was no longer working there. I took my bike back and Mike proo did exactly what he said he would do.

SALES
Rudy went above and beyond to satisfy me during the sale and has also helped tremendously after the sale. He is very knowledgable of the Jet Skis as well as very hospitable. There are not any words that can describe my experience buying from him.
SERVICE
Mike Proo the Service Manager took care of a repair of my Triton trailer which was barely 2 months old and for some reason both of the rear lights wiring had corroded. I spoke with Mike whom asked me to bring it by so SB could fix it free of charge. I was in and out in less then 30 minutes with brand new lights and wiring. I also want to thank Mike for the 30 minutes of his time spent telling me how to maintain my Yamaha WaveRunner VXS. It has been 10 years since I owned a Ski and I really appreciated him taking the time.
Customer Service after the purchase!!! Can’t beat that!!!

Bought my first motorcycle here about a year ago. Mike from sales helped me out and he was great. 4 days after I bought it, it was stolen. That same day I went and bought a brand new motorcycle and mike helped me out again and hooked me up big time. He was great and I will recommend this place to anyone who lives in San Diego. I also go get my service done here and those guys are great. I went two weeks ago to get my service done. I had no appointment and told them I needed it done by the afternoon and sure enough it was done when I needed it!

Been coming here for over 15 years. Sales service and parts, you have it all here. With so many makes now you have so much to choose from! It’s a big store with a small shop feel. Everyone here has knowledge and experience. I think that goes a long way these days.

The employees are quite friendly at Southbay Motorsports. I really admire how everyone is usally seen with a smile on their face, even after a long day of work. Their customer service is excellent and they are always eager to ask you if you need any assistance finding anything in their store. Check out their awesome ATV’s upstairs. Southbay Motorsports usually are great at having awesome events that are open to the public that involve motorcross or motorcycle persona. I still remember that day when I was fortunate to have witnessed Jason Britton performing his stunts on his motorcycle in October 2011.

Why oh why did I come back here after being consistently snubbed by these a holes? Because theyre the only ducati dealers south of LA that are open on a monday. Came in looking to spend about a grand on a summerweight ducati jacket, new lid and gauntlet gloves. Got snibbed from the second I arrived. Counted six employees jawjacking, nobody said shit. Grabbed a coupla jackets to try on, walked to the back, set off the theft sensors. Nobody had said where or even if there were changing rooms and apparently i went the wrong way. Got followed around the rest of the time like a common thief, but still zero help. Garbage selection of jackets. Got fed up yet again and left without spending a dime yet again. You guys’ service game is the worst in town… and I’ve been to moto forza. Pathetic.

From the first call in to the store, until I took the keys for delivery of my bike; this company really stands out above the rest.
I’ve traveled from coast to coast, hold CCS, WERA, and CMRA racing licenses, worked in Finance at a Powersports dealer, and have purchased over 9 bikes. I say that to say this… Southbay Motorsports has an operation and a staff that are phenomenal!
I spent a few days in the store getting to know a lot of people and it REALLY makes me reconsider my career path simply because everyone there seems so pleased and motivated to work and the comradery between the associates is amazing.
Raeanna and Angelica are two amazing ladies that really go above and beyond in the Finance office while maintaining a friendly demeanor regardless of the stresses that being a Business Manager can bring.
Ted, one of the owners, is just an amazing guy. Very genuine and you can really tell he cares about his customers as if they were his own family. Amazing guy.
Mark P was my salesman and as I said from the beginning, from my first call until delivery he was genuine, friendly, and simply there to help me with anything I needed.
These guys will give you a deal! They will make you feel like family if you give them the same respect. If you want a bike and if it is actually possible to be done, they WILL do it.

Came here after having a bad experience at FBC, and I now have a store to go to for all my future purchases I came in looking to buy my first dirtbike, ended up getting a Yamaha 125 and I love it, They even lowered my price because my interest was kind of high since I’m a first time buyer. I will be going back for more purchases in the future!

Oh, I don’t know. I wasn’t exactly impressed with the overall selection of accessories nor with the service, but I ended up walking out with a helmet at a pretty great price.
I went in looking for a specific brand of helmet, based on a friend’s recommendation. After doing some Googling, I *thought* Southbay Motorsports sold them, but when I was asked I was told they don’t. But am I the only one who thinks it’s weird that they didn’t then try to ask questions about why I wanted that particular brand or to see if they had something else that might be just as suitable for me? Everyone just kind of seemed too busy to help, but it was the middle of the afternoon on a random Tuesday and I didn’t see an overabundance of customers in the store. Also, the gals working the cash registers were nice, but they weren’t particularly helpful, meaning they didn’t know anything other than ringing up orders and had to call for one of the two sales guys working to answer a fairly basic question…
