METRO is a full service financial institution specializing in savings, checking and investment services. Additionally, METRO is a lender specializing in mortgage, auto and personal loans. If you live or work in San Diego County you are eligible for membership. METRO is not-​for-​profit which means any profit generated is reinvested back into the credit union resulting in higher dividends, lower fees and competitive loan rates.

History

Established in 1934.

Even among credit unions, METRO stands out. For one, we’ve been around much longer than most. Decades before the Coronado Bridge became a landmark, we were already part of the San Diego scene. We were here, too, back when some of Balboa Park’s towering eucalyptus trees were little more than seedlings. We were founded in 1934 by a group of City of San Diego employees looking for financial relief in the throes of an economic depression.
