Embarrassing confession: before meeting Dr. Cavan, I hadn’t seen the dentist for literally years. Some of it was insurance, other was my general fears spawned from not having the nicest dentists while growing up, but a friend of mine recommended Dr. Cavan and I decided (a year after the recommendation) that it was time to make the visit. I am so glad to have found the entire team. The receptionist and master scheduler Amy is warm and understanding, as well as flexible. The Dental Assistant Joey is great and expertly takes care of my dental questions and preparations. Dr. Cavan? AMAZING. One of the nicest people I have met and hands down, the most gentle dentist whose ever treated me. She gets the job done, and refuses to let a job be sloppy. For example, I had to get a tooth crowned from a botched job that I had from my younger days from a horrible dentist. When the permanent tooth that came in, it did not satisfy Dr. Cavan’s expectations. She sent it back and scheduled me for another visit. Her reasoning (verified by my dental friends from back home) was that the permanent that came in left a very tiny gap which I saw myself in the xrays. This could have potentially caused damage in the future, so instead of letting me go with something that was okay, she insisted on taking two new moldings and sent them both in to her company to get them made 100% right. The level is expertise and professionalism is beyond words, and today, I got my new permanent tooth placed. It feels wonderful to have more confidence in my smile, and I have Dr. Cavan and her team to thank for it. If you have been afraid of going to the dentist in the past, then take some time to speak with the team at Otay Lakes Dental. They helped me get to a better place and I’m sure they will help you too.

I found Dr. Cavan quite by accident because she takes my insurance. I will stay with her for the rest of my life because she is amazing! I could immediately tell that she is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Her receptionist, Amy, and her dental assistant, Joey, are also experts at their respective jobs! I know I am in good hands when I am in Dr. Cavan’s office. I trust her explicitly and always follow her advice. Every room is well-​equiped, extremely clean, and beautifully decorated. Her equipment, including the x-​ray machine, is state of the art, keeping radiation to a minimum. Even after two hours in her chair, my husband did not feel pain after his anesthetic dissipated. The only time she was not able to solve my pain problem was when my pain was in my right knee! I hope she never moves her office to a different location because it is within walking distance from my house, and that short walk actually does help my knee pain! Thank you very much, Dr. Cavan, Joey, and Amy for the excellent care you give to my husband and me!

After going through 3 dentists in the last couple of years, I finally found Dr Vivian Cavan and her team at Otay Lakes Dental Care. From their receptionist Amy, to dental assistant Joey, they are all so caring and knowledgable in their field.
For the first time, my dental care did not hurt. Furthermore, I felt welcomed and safe in their care.
Their facility to kept clean, equipment is top notch, and customer service unbelievable.
After my first visit, Amy (receptionist), knew who I was and what I did for a living. She explained everything from scheduling to payments very clearly.
Joey (dental assistant), was well versed in his field and explained and pointed out everything I needed to know about my dental care.
Lastly, Dr Vivian was working do precisely, I even fell asleep (with no medical aid) during a root canal. On top of that, she personally called me the next day to check up on me.
I have referred my parents and sister to Otay lakes dental care. They have impressed me enough to post my first Unilocal review.
Give them a try if the dentist is rough, over chargers or tries to push procedures or upgrades on you, or if you’re ready for some change.

A good friend recommended that I pay a visit to Dr. Cavan for some dental work, I have to say I had a great experience. She is a highly knowledgeable dentist with an awesome personality. She really took the time to thoroughly explain the procedures that needed to be done and why. Ive never felt such comfort from a dentist before, which is odd because I’m not a big fan of the dentists office. Long story short, I 100% recommend Dr. Cavan. The entire staff was really professional.

I went there in pain because she has not been available since Friday when it first started. She claimed to be open on Saturdays but don’t believe it, she’s not. She gave me this treatment plan which includes a lot of extras, the insurance pay only for what matters which is the scaling. I don’t have $ 430 with me but I have a job and I can pay it off in four months. Just not right now. And she just bluntly told me she will not change her office procedure.
Do you want a dentist w/​compassion? Who will treat you when you’re in pain and work out a payment plan for you? Then DON“T GO to this cruel, merciless dentist who ignored how much pain I am in. MONEY matters to her more, forget the hippocratic oath, or does she think DENTISTS are not required to not cause harm.
AVOID AT ALL COST! The only positive point to that office is AMY the office manager, she would try to help you out but within the limits of that evil dentist’s office rules.
