Burros and Fries

I had a veggie burrito and the rice tasted like it was either under or over cooked. It was very hard. I’ve had it here before but today it wasn’t good.

Love this place. Great food! That comes out quickly & is served w/​friendly service. This is my go-​to Mexican spot in Chula Vista.

Wow, so went to get a burrito/​roll taco combo and they went ahead and raised the price to $ 3+. Not worth it. Price is higher when u walk in.

Omg I have to say the surf and turf burrito is the best I have had in the south Bay it’s a must have … their habanero salsa has just the right kick with flavor

Actually came here on Cinco de Mayo. I had the Shrimp Echiladas with my ever so famous jamaica. They were delicious! !!! Anna was at the register and with how busy it was there, she still had a smile on her face. Great customer service and a definite Multi-​tasker. Thank you Anna for everything and hope you enjoyed the rest of your Cinco de Mayo.

This place isn’t too bad, but there is better. I would have given it 3 stars, maybe 3.5, but the attitude I received after asking about my order knocks off a star.
They don’t, or weren’t, calling by number, but rather by what you ordered. When people who came in after me we’re getting their orders and sitting down and eating I asked about mine. I showed my ticket and said I heard them call my same order earlier, I was quickly dismissed and told that was to go. She didn’t even bother to look at the ticket.
I’m sure my order was taken by someone who came in after me, but the way they responded wasn’t okay. They are busy, I don’t think any of this was done purposely, but use the order number system that’s in place and don’t get rude when someone inquires about their food.

It always hard grading Mexican food since there is one in every corner and they all don’t taste far apart from each other until you hit that one spot that’s really good or really bad. I thought this place was average nothing spectacular. Decent food if your just trying to crash and find a quick spot to eat.

Last night I was with my boyfriend and we were in the mood for some really good Mexican. It was actually my first time using Unilocal to find a place to eat ! I think I’ll stick to doing it now ! There was quite the selection and to be completely honest the «get a free fish taco-​check in «was what made us decide. We wanted a surf and turf fries and enchiladas. All the places we looked at had them and hey we’re all 4 star plus. Anywho we decided on this place. When we walked in there were two tables and one female working the counter I wish I would have remembered her name because she was really friendly and very nice. So we order our s&t fries and enchiladas and are about to pay but the friendly employee informs us that our card was declined instead of making it really awkward she kind of helped us (in case we would have needed it) and informed us there was an atm at the end of the mall to ale cash out. Pretty awesome escape route (again in case we would have needed it) fortunately it was because my better half forgot to activate his debit card. We went to the nearest Wells Fargo atm and activated it. I called in advance to let the wonderful female cashier and she laughed it off with us. Gave her my order and when we got back it was hot and ready: D .
I loved my surf and turf fries ! Highly recommended ! He also loved them. I took one bite of his enchiladas, it’s not that j didn’t like them from his place, I just don’t like them in general. He is a huge fan though !

Checked this place out during Lent, because no-​meat Fridays. Excellent rolled fish tacos & the veggie fries are the bomba! Fish tacos were so tasty! Will definitely be going back! Great family take out option on a weekend (or weekday). Basically, any day!

So many unique menu options to choose from! Their carne asada fries (not so unique) were to die for. Very small place, I would personally get your food to-​go. The prices are great, foot choices are endless, and pretty fast service.

Stopped in for a late night dinner with my girlfriend.
One word: Lime. Everything had lime juice in mass quantity. If you have scurvy, this is your go to place.
The lime with guacamole needed more avocado.
The lime with green salsa needed more spices.
I’m sorry, but this is not authentic Mexican food.
Just down the road west you’ll find Los Hermanos, they have lime optional.

Stopped in for lunch after a beer tasting and boy did it hit the spot. I had the carne Asada fries…½ order and that was HUGE! Loved the thin, crispy fries.
Everyone enjoyed their meals which included another order of carne Asada fries, chicken chipotle fries, machaca burrito, and Surf & Turf burrito. Prices were decent.
Restaurant is fairly clean.
Only reason I took a star off was there is NO bathroom for customers… and I had just drank a ton of beer. I snuck into the ghetto ass bathroom at McDonalds across the parking lot. No Bueno!

Last night my husband brought home the carne esada fries and a burrito for dinner. He only at a couple chips from it and just put the container in a bag for me to take to work today for lunch. I reheated them and was eating them when I pulled out what appeared to be a broken off wooden corn dog sticks that was in the nachos. It had to be about 3 inches long, had it been any smaller, I imagine it could have gotten mixed with a chip and I could have choked to death. I am repulsed right now after having found this and there is no way I am going back into their establishment. That’s careless, unsanitary and disgusting.

The name says a lot about the business. Burros and fries! And that is exactly what i got. I ordered a California burrito and since I checked in using my Unilocal app I got a free fish taco. The taco was delicious and next time I might just get a order of fish tacos. I have to admit that it was one of the best California burritos that I have ever tried. The steak was tender and delicious with great flavor. The French fries were crunchy! It had the perfect amount of pico de gallo. I requested no sour cream on mine. They also have a delicious salsa bar. I loved their habanero and the green guacamole salsa. I will definitely come back again. Maybe to try their Buffalo California Burrito!!!

Just wanting to reiterate, I really like this place!!!
I usually get pollo dishes… Their chicken is lightly seasoned (just enough! It doesn’t need more)… And cooked tender. It tastes FRESH. Meat from other spots sometimes have that after-​taste, you know what I mean? Not this place. And not just the meat. The veggies are also very fresh. It has a nice clean taste. The tortilla chips are made to order and addicting. The rolled tacos are super crunchy and soft inside. Yum. On our latest trip here, we ordered to go and it was ready in a few minutes.

Buffalo chicken fries!!! These fries. are BOMB!!! Open for grabs salsa bar i grabbed habanero and another red sauce. good flavor and customer service is nice. Dont fogert to check into Unilocal and get a free fish taco! I was so full from sharing a plate with the hubs i forgot to eat it lol. Next time.

Very easy to find place off the 805. I pulled it up by searching fish tacos on Unilocal,but ended up ordering the surf and turf fries while getting the Unilocal check-​in for a free fish taco.
The surf and turf fries are loaded with cheese, carne and shrimp and to be honest were freaking delicious. There were also I believe green peppers and a teasing dollop of what I think was sour cream but not fully certain. My only issue with the order was I felt there weren’t enough shrimp to really make this great. I counted five which sounds reasonable enough when compared with the carne and fries at the price point, but seven or eight would do better. I had to ration my eating to make sure I didn’t accidentally eat and run out of shrimp which isn’t an ideal way to enjoy a meal.
The fish taco to be honest I don’t fully remember. I should have gotten something from the salsa bar to go with it, but alas I took the order to go.
Décor is nice with frames for the Chargers, Padres, SDSU and the Xolos. Not a long wait for the order.

Good: the salsas are good the green guac, when you check in you get a free fish taco and it was all cooked to order and hot.
Bad: if you call yourself «burros and fries» you would think the California burrito would be amazing well it’s not .the size of the burrito is disappointing, I ate the free taco and the Cali burrito and I was ok, the fries were cooked in old grease all I could taste were soggy fries and grease, I like sour cream but wow too much sour cream, the meat is nothing to be amazed. The free fish taco was actually better than the burrito.
Overall: there’s better taco shops in Chula Vista area like Lolita’s which give bigger portions and cheaper. I won’t return

Burros and Fries on Canyon Plaza in Telegraph Canyon road, is a small authentic mexican cuisine. I always order the menudo and either the fajitas or the rancheros whenever I come and eat here. The menudo is really good with lime, fresh onions, grilled pepper and cilantro. I love their zanahorias (pickled carrots) and green pepper which is available for free at the condiments station. The price is very affordable. About half of the people order their food to go since there is no restroom in this place. In spite of that, I still like this place.
I was given 1 free fish taco with any purchase for checking in.
I strongly recommend this place because the food is great and in large portion. I give them 4 stars because they have no restroom.

I had a meeting in the area and was looking for something to eat nearby in the afternoon. The place is clean and a few customers were dining in. Because of the Unilocal highlights, I tried out their Surf & Turf Burrito. The burrito itself was standard in size. I do admit, the rice threw me off but it tasted good. The ingredients weren’t completely balanced out within the tortilla so by the time I got to the bottom fourth where the shrimp was, I was full. They do have really crispy fries, though, as they stayed crisp inside throughout my dine. The Horchata was good. Burros & Fries wouldn’t be my go-​to spot for a Surf & Turf, but I’d try out their California Burrito or Carne Asada Fries.
