These guys meet my 3 personal criteria for best auto shop:
1) They delivered the thing they advertised for the price they advertised it for.
2) They talk to ME about my car, not the male person I happen to have with me.
3) They are quick and courteous.

B & J is an honest repair shop. When my «check engine» light came on I called and they told me to come down. They replaced 2 oxygen sensors and didn’t take very long to do so. I found B&J Auto Repair Smog & Sales while searching for a place to get a smog check in order to renew my car registration. I came here around 11am on a Saturday. Once I drove in, an employee helped me right away. The smog check only took about 15 minutes and my car passed! Service was very fast and efficient! The price is one of the lowest around at $ 38. I had to get a smog check and literally got it done 15 minutes after I called to see if they could fit me in. I talked to them about another issue my truck has-​from the dealer-​and they quoted me a price and explained the work that would need to be done. They gave me an actual print out for the work and labor prices. I appreciated that more than anything since they provided something in writing and guaranteed the work for a year. I don’t have a regular mechanic I can trust but I don’t mind giving these guys a try.

I came in during lunchtime & thought I was going to be waiting forever.
I used the Unilocal coupon + the certificate cost + the $ 10addition for having an SUV (jeep). Ended at under $ 50 with no retest. Normally I pay $ 70 for a smog w/​retest elsewhere.
I’m assuming the owner was the one who helped me because he said he made the coupon. He made me laugh :) & he asked how long I wanted it to take so I said 10min and passing smog… that’s exactly what he did.

I called this morning to see if these people could replace a seatbelt. The guy that answered was short with me and said we don’t repair them we replace them (as though I were an idiot to ask).
I said OK, great! What’s the replacement cost?
He said they would have to look at it first. I said I could understand that if they were repairing the seatbelts, but if they’re replacing them surely they could give me a range of the cost.
He rudely refused.
I inquired further, in disbelief that he wouldn’t even give me a range of cost for this before I drive all the way there. But I do know the game of get you in the door and then sell you when you’ve come a long way to get there, and they know they’ve got you.
No matter how many times I asked, he would give me no information other than that I should bring my car there and they would look at it and give me a price at that point. Again I could totally understand this if I were asking for repair, but to replace a seatbelt has to be a pretty standard fare, right?
Not only will I not take my car there I wanted to be sure and let people know that they are bait and switch most likely, if they’re not even willing to give me a range of what it would cost to replace a seatbelt in my car.

We came here a few months ago and the total came out to 38 dollars for a smog check + certificate. Awesome! Plus we were literally in & out within 15 minutes. We came back today expecting the same price, but apparently it depends on the year of the vehicle. Year 2000 and under is 10 dollars more, lame! They were pretty busy today and we waited about an hour :/
Good customer service though and convenient so we will be back next time we need smog checks.

Came in today, the 27th of May after needing smog for my 2002 Acura Rsx-​S. It just so happens that the smog shop I used to go to wouldn’t accommodate my lowered vehicle, and I turned to help for help. I came in at about 1300 and left around 1345; it would have been faster, but there were multiple people ahead of me. The whole smog service only took 10 minutes and I was well on my way. Make sure to mention Unilocal and check into the business so you get their special of 29.99 for vehicles 2000+ and up.
I would definitely come back again.
